And Ichida, in your rebuttal, you did not touch upon why you got those replies.
Basically the consensus was that items aren't a "mostly luck" factor in this game. They are very much a part of the game, and dismissing them as a non-competitive element is rather short-sighted and foolish. You might as well say that certain stages (e.g. Mario Bros.) cause luck to prevail. Hell, if we all thought this way, people would only ever fight on Battlefield or Final Destination. What a boring competition that would be.
Items add a varied sense of depth to the game. It wasn't because of luck that you "suffered too many humiliating losses", it was because your skill did not adjust well enough to the different play style - simple as that.
This brings me to the second point of why you got these responses. You are taking this (like many other things in the past) way too seriously. You are so adamant in your viewpoints, that it makes you appear rigid, and disagreeable. It's just a game! Honestly, your wording makes you sound like your actions have caused 20 American soldiers in Iraq to lose their lives.
There are far more important things in this life to devote your time to, and I really do hope you see that as you grow up. In all seriousness, SSBB is one of the last things on my mind when compared to items like: the four audit files waiting on my desk in the morning, the price of furniture and how it will affect my budget for when I move out in May, and the complications I am having with Wendy.
Anyway, this was supposed to be a simple quip about SSBB, but apparently I got into a kind of thing there. Take from what I said what you wish.
