Chapter 1:
Spoiler (Click to View)
It started off as a normal day for them. They had been friends since they met in the orphanage. Nothing could separate them, they would do anything for each other. They were the definition of friendship.
Sid had just woken up and taken a shower. He combed his wavy blonde hair and put on his usual jeans, thermal black shirt with a red sword on it, and black sneakers, before going downstairs. Almost everyone else had already gone outside to enjoy their Summer break, but a boy with short, straight, black hair was waiting for him. The boy wore his usual jeans, gray t-shirt, and black sneakers.
"What took you so long?" he asked. "We're going to be late for class." At that moment, Sid realized that it was 1:00 PM, he had overslept. The two of them ran outside, hopped on their bikes, and raced to their Tae Kwon Do school. They walked inside, not making any noise, hoping that their master wouldn't notice that they were late.
"And that point gives Kiernan the win," the master stated. The boy standing next to him, Kiernan, raised his two black sticks with gold dragons twisted around them into the air. The masters smile suddenly faded away. "Richard, Sid, you two are late," he said without even turning around. "Sid, get out your sword, we're sparing."
Sid rushed across the room and picked up his wooden longsword, and went back to join the rest of the class.
"Ok, next match," the master started. "Hmm, why don't we mix it up a bit. Sid, Richard, you two are going to fight Kiernan."
Sid and Richard walked to the center of the floor and faced Kiernan.
"Hey, I'll go easy on you guys," he said jokingly.Â
The master started the fight, Sid ran at Kiernan, slicing down with his sword, but Kiernan sidestepped and used a sidekick to send him across the room. Richard attacked next, he got a good punch to Kiernan's chest, and followed up with a roundhouse kick at his face. Kiernan ducked, and swept at Richard's ankle with his sticks, knocking him to the ground. Before even getting up, Kiernan spun around to hit Sid in the side, and jumped up holding one stick across his neck, and the other at the side of his head.
"Well, I guess that ends it," the master interrupted. "Good job Kiernan, you really are getting good with those."
Kiernan bowed before exiting the ring and going back to the rest of the class. A few sparring matches happened before they went back to practicing their forms. Before they knew it, class was over, and everyone started pouring out.
"Don't wait for me," Kiernan said to Richard and Sid. "I think I going to practice some more, I'll meet you back at the orphanage."
The two of them went outside, hopped on their bikes, and had their usual race back to the orphanage. When they arrived, the place was empty, nobody was inside, or even around it. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew the doors open, and a man appeared in front of them. He wore a black hoodie, a pair of sweatpants, and black sneakers. His head had a little bit of puffy, black hair, like a mini mini-afro, and he had dark brown skin.Â
"Good, I made it here before them," he mumbled. "You guys have to get out of here now."
"Hey," Sid replied. "You can't just barge in here like that and expect us to follow you."
The building was shaken as a flood of darkness arrived, slowly morphing into different creatures. Sid and Richard had no idea what was going on, while the stranger acted as if he'd seen them everyday.
"Darn it, too late," he said. "Look, I can explain everything later, but right now, we have to leave. These things could destroy the whole town!"
Sid and Richard looked at each other, and decided to follow the stranger outside. These dark creatures shattered the windows, and stampeded after them, as they ran into the street.
"Get ready you guys," the stranger warned as he put out his to hands. He took a deep breath, and clapped, creating a huge gust of wind. Sid, Richard, and all of the dark creatures were carried off into the woods, about a half a mile from the orphanage. "Now, it's time to fight." Sid took out his wooden sword from his bag as Richard prepared for some hand to hand combat. The monsters closed in, and the group attacked. The stranger jumped into the air, creating a gust of wind underneath himself, and hovering above them. He slammed into the ground, creating a huge force of wind, which sent most of them flying, and they disappeared in mid air. Richard was punching at the creatures, taking put some of them, while Sid kept whacking them with his sword. It seemed like the stranger was the only one with success, he kept crating wind gusts and ripping the monsters apart. This went on for about three minutes, until the monsters were all gone.
"Alright," Sid started. "Now, we want some answers."

Chapter 2:
Spoiler (Click to View)
"Well," the man started. "I guess I'll start from the beginning. First off, my name's Chris. I've been watching you two for a while now." His voice was calming, it soothed the boys, relaxing the after an exciting battle. He went on to talk about his power, control over wind, and explained the little that he knew about the creatures. "Anyway, I had come to the conclusion that you two were two of the three chosen souls. That's why I came to find you, but the creatures must have noticed you guys too."
"Whoa," Sid interrupted. "Back up a minute. What do you mean about these 'three chosen souls'?"
"I knew that this would just lead to more questions," Chris said. "I guess I'll just have to show you what I'm talking about." With that, the three of them were swallowed into a gust of wind. Moments later, they appeared outside of a tent that was on the side of a canyon, right by the edge of the woods. Chris led Sid and Richard inside, and it turned out to be a lot more than just a tent.
The whole inside was like a building, a very large building. Inside were tables, chairs, a tv, and a trap door leading to a floor underneath.
"How is this even possible?" Richard questioned.
"Technology is a great gift," Chris replied. "You would get used to this stuff after a few visits to the future." He then opened the trapdoor, leading them down. It was like the inside of a cave. The walls around them were made of jagged rocks, and white paint drawings were around the room. An eternal fire was in the middle, one that would never go out. "Look closely at these drawings, they tell the story better than I can. A picture is worth a thousand words."
Sid and Richard walked around the room, studying the pictures for a few minutes. Pictures of a man covered in darkness, casting monsters onto the world. Pictures of three boys with different weapons, killing the monsters. All of their questions were being answered, without them even being asked.
"So," Sid broke the silence. "I take it that your the third chosen soul."
"Thanks, I'm flattered," he chuckled. "But, no. I am not the third chosen soul, I don't even know who it is. All that I can do is train you for your destiny."
"But the people in the pictures had weapons!" Richard stated. "We don't have anything, just a wooden sword." Chris lead them back upstairs. He walked over to a drawer.
"I told you that I was watching you for a while, didn't I?" He spoke to them without even looking up, his head was buried in the drawer, looking for something. He finally found them and pulled them out. "I made these for you a while back."
The items were placed on the ground. One of them was a metal longsword, sharper than any of the ones at the Tae Kwon Do school. To the left of it was a group of four items, two gloves and a pair of sneakers. These were different then normal ones, they had strange markings and line on them, with a weird energy surging through them. Chris liked to call them "Power Gear."
"And this is just for us?" Sid asked. Chris nodded and the two boys picked up their new weapons, Sid got the sword and Richard got the Power Gear. Just holding the objects made them feel stronger.
"Even though it's early, you two should get some sleep. Your in for a big day tomorrow." They didn't argue. That battle had drained a lot out of them, and based on movies they watched, chosen people went through a lot of hard training. Chris walked over to a wall, pressed a button, and a set of bunk beds moved out. Richard raced toward them, claiming the top bunk as his own, and Sid took the bottom. Right after laying down, they fell asleep.
