Haven't posted up something new for a while. I wrote this earlier today. It's based on a Socratic philosophy of spirituality.
"Sojourn"
These bodies we posses are but merely husks,
The vessels with which we traverse the Earth;
And at the end of time, on the edge of dusk
We must shed our skins in spiritual rebirth.
Our souls will dance in the shining aurora;
Our bodies are caught in the balance,
As our deeds are weighed in the scales of Libra;
Measured not in substance, but in essence.
We will pass into the open stream of life
By whose clear water we are all renewed;
Free at last of all our physical strife,
Liberated by spiritual vicissitude.
In the end we alone are in control
Of the path and destinations of our souls.
