Haven't posted up something new for a while. I wrote this earlier today. It's based on a Socratic philosophy of spirituality.

"Sojourn"

These bodies we posses are but merely husks,
The vessels with which we traverse the Earth;
And at the end of time, on the edge of dusk
We must shed our skins in spiritual rebirth.

Our souls will dance in the shining aurora;
Our bodies are caught in the balance,
As our deeds are weighed in the scales of Libra;
Measured not in substance, but in essence.

We will pass into the open stream of life
By whose clear water we are all renewed;
Free at last of all our physical strife,
Liberated by spiritual vicissitude.

In the end we alone are in control
Of the path and destinations of our souls.
Yay! Another of Roans awesome poems! Nice!
It is very "spiritful" !
(Get it?)
Erm... I think it would be better if you used an actual word. ^^'

I like how you mention Libra in this, it reminds me of Beyblade. But otherwise, the idea is very true and rings to my religious beliefs. I am Hindu, and do believe in reincarnation, but I also believe in moksha, meaning that if you do enough good deeds, your soul can be freed from reincarnation and become one with Brahma, and karma, meaning that the amount of good and bad deeds you do in your life decide what will happen to you after you die.

So, yes, we alone are very much in control of the path and destinations of our souls.

And another A B A B rhyme scheme, I see.
you know, I kinda relate with this :

Quote:These bodies we posses are but merely husks,
The vessels with which we traverse the Earth;

We Control our bodies, yet we don't control others. One's self is special in it's own, and we use this bodies to Feel, Look, hear, taste, and see the world.

Quote:And at the end of time, on the edge of dusk
We must shed our skins in spiritual rebirth.

At the end of our lives, We die physically, but not Spiritually, as we are united with the creator of mankind: God Himself.

Quote:Our souls will dance in the shining aurora;
Our bodies are caught in the balance,
As our deeds are weighed in the scales of Libra;
Measured not in substance, but in essence.

We humans have balanced potentials. good and bad. This we control, not others.

Quote:We will pass into the open stream of life
By whose clear water we are all renewed;

We have a long journey ahead of us, But this journey's have obstacles. Obstacles of temptation. But even with this, The "water" will clean our bodies, washing away sin and refreshes one's mind and body.

Quote: Free at last of all our physical strife,
Liberated by spiritual vicissitude.

We cleanse our physical appearance with water, and also our soul.

Quote:In the end we alone are in control
Of the path and destinations of our souls.

We are in control of our life. that's our destiny.

This is just my understandings. there are a lot of it. roan', I like this very much Smile
You should really get these published. I would buy it.
Yeah. Force your daily paper and tell them to put this on paper. Who knows? You must be a star already!
I've undergone somewhat of a spiritual awakening in my personal life as of late, and as a result my writing has started to fixate on that aspect of life.

I would love to have my work published, I just don't know where to go or who to talk to to make it happen. I've browsed around online but everything I've found seems like a scam. My local newspaper doesn't have a section for that sort of thing, and I doubt they'd publish me there even if they did.

My college newspaper might though, and I have a lot of connections with people who work on the paper, so that might be an avenue... I don't know, I'd have to think about it.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement though guys, I really appreciate it.
