THE REVOLUTION BEGINS! Maryland Bladers, this is your chance to earn paid travel expenses to Toronto to play in the WBO North American Championship, BEYBLADE REVOLUTION!!

Mandatory $5 Entry Fee = More Qualifiers + Extra Credits + Free Face Booster!
To help subsidize the high cost of flying/busing the qualifiers to Toronto, a mandatory $5 entry fee will be imposed on this WBO North American Championship Qualifier Series tournament, regardless of whether or not participants have a Blader Passport (if you do not have one, you are welcome to purchase one in the place of the $5 fee, though), and there will be no prize reimbursement apart from the travel expenses for the winner. We hope that everyone can understand this! The more funds we have, the bigger this championship will be! However, to show our appreciation for your cooperation and support in helping to fund the championship, all participants in Qualifier Series tournaments will receive the following:

What can I win?
The winner of this qualifier will receive the following:
  • Paid travel expenses, by plane or bus (whichever is cheapest) to ANIME NORTH 2013 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for BEYBLADE REVOLUTION.
  • An ANIME NORTH 2013 Pass
Qualifiers will be responsible for finding/paying for accommodations in Toronto, but the WBO Committee will work closely with the winner to make sure that they find somewhere suitable. Additionally, the winner will be required to consult with the Committee before booking their flight/bus, and then after approval, provide a booking confirmation to the WBO Committee before they can provide reimbursement for the traveling costs.

actually we missed it by 2 people but still a great turn out
Probably a sub. Aru finished 4th
Good to see the Maryland crew is coming up for BR. Congrats to Stars on coming also.
My legs is dead for real gonna need wheelchair. Thanks Dark weak sause mousy.
Yes, my legs are incredibly sore after this, haha.

Anyways, we really shouldn't of started that late. We could've been ready by 1:15 without that Park Police guy and 1:30 with him. Adding 30 wasted minutes was not necessary. In fact, if we had started around 1:30 we could probably do HMS and I could've gotten 1 more round in before I had to go. And no offense to Stars but for the most part Arupaeo was hosting.

Besides this, I had a great time judging and playing!

On a serious note, everyone stop with the weak sauce. Its rather annoying.
The scoring was a big part i wanted Arupaeo to do it. Since Arupaeo was inactive that's why i made the thread so i can keep things updated while he had things to get done. I took my role as money collecting and registration. So no i was never offended it was as planned.
OK, that is fine then, sorry.

Anyways, so what was the deal with the park guy?
Apparently we need a permit to host events there.
Here comes the permit fee ;-; 5 dollars....
So, are we going to have to pay extra then to help pay for the permit?

We really shouldn't need a permit, it is like saying you need a permit for a big 4 hour birthday party ...
Exactly! So we have a birthday party we getting money feom people party last 5 hours but this? Permit? Are you serious? This is a non profit organization why do we need to pay more to play.....

Just checked out the fee it isn't too shabby we have 20 people or more for each tournament it would be enough to cover thw fee.
Hey when is my blader passport and my facebolts going to be posted?
We have a bunch of tournament left to process, so in a few weeks most likely.
this may be extreme but i think we should find a new place or something imo i dont think alot of people who would like paying 10 dollars for non passport holders or 15 dollars for people buying a passport idk maybe im being stupid...
I assume you are talking about the permit? Yeah, I can understand the fees during the winter, but $5 every tournament is excessive ...
I'm speaking with the Montgomery Park Permits Office about future possible permits. They are very reasonable, and they were kind enough to let the event go on yesterday despite the fact that given the nature of the Qualifying event (For the North American Championships) a permit should have been required according to the rules.

Because we were collecting money for the Championships but did not have a permit, it was entirely within the Park Manager's purview to call the Park Police and have us evicted. He didn't do that, and we should all be very grateful for that!

My next step is to reach out to the Director of Parks, explain who we are (non-profit that organizes area residents (primarily minors) to play with spinning tops) and ask for a waiver of the special event permit application fee. My understanding is that there is an honest chance that our request for waiver will be granted given the volunteer nature of the organization.

Regardless, all future events in MLK Park will have to have a permit based on what I heard today. If we are unable to obtain a waiver, we may be forced to move our events outside of Montgomery County or assess a permit fee to cover the cost ($50). I really hope it doesn't come to that, but I will keep you up to date on what I find out.

Oh, and it was 48 people!
A $5 fee for 5 hours of park use doesn't sound too bad and I'm sure we could find 20 people to chip in 25 cents each for each event or is the understanding to be $5 per person?
This is Geetster's mom...

If the park fee is only $5 a day for us to be there and we can't get a waiver I will pay the $5 for the next tournament. (Well the June one... since we won't be there for May) $5 is nothing if you think about the fun that everyone has once a month for 5 hours! I'm sure that a lot of the parents would think of it that way as well. I personally love seeing everyone for the tournaments and catching up!

Jeannie
Hah, sorry about the typo. The permit application fee is $50, not $5.

If we have 20-30 bladers per tourney minimum (which is typical) then a fee of around $2-3/person would cover the cost...
Seems reasonable, I guess $50 is a fine price, if we were going to pay $5 and we have about 50 people again because "Beyday" that would cover 5 permits for the next 5 months. however we don't want to pay every time tho otherwise we lose bladers in this community.
I think trying to get the fee waived is a great idea.
Where can I find the combos everyone used? If they are recorded somewhere, please post them in the winning combo thread if not posted already. I know lots of other bladers are curious about the winning combos too.
We'll say it as soon BeyDay is completed hehe. Winners agreed that we should not discuss about it or leak the winning combos until beyday is over Tongue_out
