No, Carman Melville is a guy. I found a voicebank website and he is under the "Commercial English Men" Category among other Canadian male VAs.

See here.

I Think he was being sarcastic about him anyway it's the problem with all english dubs Narutos english voice sounds a bit screechy << sorry for being a bit off topic but , they really need to do some work on ryugas voice , it wont be the first time if some voice actors are changed

Yeah he tended to do that Canadian "ou" sound quite a bit, Max also. It was very prevalent in the first season especially.

Dude said that Melville was a she on a few threads so I wasn't sure if it was sarcasm. Maybe Melville will get better as the seasons progress and he settles in with Ryuga.

The goal of female seiyuu's is to bring the "innocence" from children's voices when they voice act for children and possibly teenage boys too. Like Kenta and Yuu they sound quite sweet. (I tried not to relate it to other animes/mangos)

That might be their cover story, but that's not the truth. They don't want to have to bother with child actors, and if the series becomes long (like say, Dragon Ball or Naruto) they don't want someone who's voice may mature and develop as time goes on. The reason they don't want men is often times due to their inability to reach higher vocal registers.
I know, like Ash's (Pokemon) voice actor's voice deepened once, and a character's voice actor was changed in Full Metal Alchemist because it was a boy going through puberty, and his voice became deeper. They had no choice but to replace him. Chief 2002 - Sigh ...

Well, I'm really looking forward to the guy with the wierd rabbit/squirrel/cat's voice actor.

WHAT?! Everyone has to go to puberty, I would like to see Ginga have his voice deepened, even if it sounds weird.

I'd be glad to learn that Carman is a man, although Ryuuga's voice would still suck and that would make him a terrible voice actor in my eyes, but I fail to...prove, if you will, anything from that link you posted. It's just a bunch of adresses...Am I supposed to see something, here?

Furthermore, he wouldn't even have an IMdb page, which indicates a large lack of experience, since basically anyone has a page in there. It's kinda risky to cast an inexperienced voice actor as the main vilain of a series with which you wish to make money.

It is more the fact that Carman is registered under "Men" among other male Canadian VAs I wanted to show you, the writing is pretty small I know but he is there. Want me to screen cap it for you? And the page has voice samples too. EDIT seems it only shows when cached I have screen capped this though

He has voiced an anime before, he was Grasshop in Spider Riders and was in Bakugan like most of the other MFB dub VAs. Also VAing is 1/2 acting 1/2 direction so it could be that the direction sucks we never know.

Nah, I do appreciate you offering to take time to do something like that, just to convince the regular freaky-otaku-low-life that I am.

Even if he is a dude, it doesn't erase the fact that Ryuuga's voice sucks. But it is true that the direction can sometime influence negatively a performance and since we're talking about Nelvana, it's probably the case.

Also, if he did voice Grasshop, that means he does have an IMdb, but he's registered as an actress...I'd change that if I were him...
(Dec. 16, 2010  8:56 PM)Night Wrote: I know, like Ash's (Pokemon) voice actor's voice deepened once
This is not true. In all of the time of Pokemon, Ash has only had two English VA's and they were both women. When Ash's voice deepened it was because they changed the VA. (Also on rare occasions, the original VA would give Ash a very slightly deeper voice from the strain on her throat.)

Also, Ash's original voice actor played:
-Ash
-Ash's Mom
-May

Here is Ash's original VA. (The video is kinda funny, imo.)

I thought Carman Melville was a girl. O_O I guess not.

Awww and I had done the screen cap too Grin it only takes me about a minute and ouch you really think that of yourself?

For me it is more that Ryuga's voice is like nails on a chalkboard and the first impression we got on the episode 13 preview way back wasn't good either...he used a similar tone for Grasshop too. Another thing is maybe they wanted to record ASAP to save studio time and money and in the process rushed it.

Yeah an IMDB stuffup, I am not sure they check their own IMDBs though...
Carman Melville is a man ? Ahahah. I have respect towards Nelvana for their dub of Metal Fight Beyblade, but this is absolutely idiotic. Something or everything went wrong when it came to Ryuuga ...
I didn't know that either, but did Carman sound like a person with a strep throat on purpose?

ahhh, so THATS what strep throat sounds like.

i feel sorry
Ginga-annoying and wont stop blabbering on and o and on about friendship and spirit. screw you Ginga. if you are going to constantly use irritating cliches, use different ones each time. and lest face it-the hamburgers Madoka gives him are probobly laced with Coke...alot of coke

Kenta-such a little prick. if i see him cry one more time over losing a battle or friendship, i will personally go down to Beyblade writers and force them to kill off this annoying $#*+

Benkei-you are either very angry, have terrets, or both. whatever the case, he should nveer be allowed to speak agian. ever

Kyoya-Every time he growls like a moron, part of me DIES inside. no joke. how does a person grwol for a full 5 mins of screen time without saying actual words? ugh.

Douji-"Do you know why i don"t like cactuses?" F*** YOU! Cacti is the word! And why is it that the only atempt at a theme throughout all of MFB doesnt make any sense?

Ryuuga-Apparently, the amount of drugs he is on is not enough for him...he gets "higher" eveery freakin episode. i would not be surprised if there was a whole episode on Ryuuga having an OD or something...

I could go on but, i have questions.

what bey parts do the orso brothers use (other than orso clear wheels)?
^ I agree but heres what I think

Ginga: to much Words

Kenta: has to much trust in Ginga, he isn't perfect, I hate the way everyone cheers Ginga on, STOP SPOILLING THE BATTLES!!!! XD

Benkei: Smithicide

Kyoya: one of the better dub voices, however isn't that good, Kyoya sounds to old in the anima, but somehow suits him, the screeming part, seriously, episode 10 is in the past Serious

Doji: I always thought the way he dressed cool, however the dub is terrible, and I always wondered, why serve Ryuga? an adult under a the command of a lameas teenager, and I always wondered where he got the money? Greedy

Ryuga: I actually found his voice not THAT bad myself XD maybe the higher voice is from the power he keeps gaining? if you watched the whole thing u know what I mean

BTW all the brothers have the same parts just different colors Wink

That would be a pretty stupid and pointless addition from Nelvana, considering Ryuuga's Japanese voice is always deep and cool. Who the hell thought "Hey, you know what would make this antagonist who was already pretty scary better? If his voice was super annoying the more he gained power, even though it's not really clear when he does. Right?"
@ LeonTempestXIII >>>

Finally someone speaking against Gingka , you don't know the happiness i feel right now

MFB is like digimon series 2 , MFB needs some drastic changes to go on top , this maybe a bit off topic but i don't get how MFB scored more on imdb than BSB , especially since BSB G-Revolution was way cooler , don't hate me for saying this but Beyblade should have the same consistency that naruto & pokemon have , pokemon can still produce deep plots even if you know team rocket is gonna be in every damn episode , i watched MFB 87 a few days ago & already the american teams criminal mastermind is revealed , same happened with the Russian team in MFB , no secrecy whatsoever , American tournament episodes started by 83 -84 & already we know who the villain or at least the minion is , call me old school but i seriously miss the real villains in beyblade like , Boris & voltair & also the deep plots
but i like kyoya's growl D; hes a lion he doesnt talk XD and benkies voice does annoy me. But yeah somebody else who hates gingka Grin
we should start a group called "Why to hate Gingka" haha.

the growls of not just Kyoya but Gingka and others as well would not be so freakin stupod if a) they didnt take up 5 mins of screen time b) they were actualy real growls. the voice actors who make the growling noises just make a fake growl noise that is over emphesised and just annoying.

Benkei's voice actor is half the problem...the other half is the character itself.

agreed. the older series was not as cliche (not to say they werent both cliche) and the plt design was much better in virtualy every aspect. and while boice acting in the dub is not the best, there are a few exceptions and atleast for the ones that are bad, there voices are tolerable.
but i like benkies madness, hes just like a bull :3 and i believe the Bull is my zodiac
but yes the growls do get annoying sometimes but if they put more feeling into them it would be better. But i will always prefer the older series over the new one :V and yes we should make a group named that XD
Instead of the growling it should have been errrrr sound that would have been natural & what about Ba ba ba ba bull it is the most idiotic thing i ever seen in a anime , anyway we can't do anything about MFB it is done & i hope would be over with it's share of 153 episodes before 2011 or maybe early 2012 , so we could expect a actually good beyblade series like the BSB Series , with animal spirits & beyblades of MFB Gen. or maybe Beys made of another heavy metal or something like titanium beys lol JK
Why are you guys so surprised to see someone who hates Ginga? There are plenty. Even I can admit he's about as generic as protagonists get, nothing very interesting character-wise (Although I do prefer him to Tyson)
idk cause most of the beyblade fans love gingka or kyoya ;V but personally i prefer Brooklyn Grin
