Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts

Yeah, it's been floating around for a few days now, but I thought I'd wait until we had confirmation for it. Confirmed by multiple sources now.

Brad's reaction is actually the same as a lot of Japanese comments I've seen as well, haha.

WE'RE TRANSLATING THIS!!

Why is it using the cover image from volume 5? I really wish they drew something new, lol.

is that in a fangirl squeal? lol

What's the reason for this one shot? Anniversary? Retro?

Zero words lol.

I'm guessing all the nostalgic manchildren and long time fans will want them back so badly, at least it's better than those stupid tribute characters from Zero G.

No reason that I can see. Might be to celebrate Beyblade Burst becoming exceedingly popular now, which makes it perfect timing for a throwback manga.

Kind of wished it was like a certain years anniversary thing.

I doubt Takara Tomy would bother with long time fans that much.
Well, the manga started in January 1999 and ended in December 2003. The anime started in January 2000 and also ended in December 2003. We're really not looking at any anniversaries of any kind.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was a publicity stunt to attract older fans, and perhaps push them to Burst (though, this one-shot is in a different comic to Burst).
It seems to be the era of nostalgic childhood revivals. Pokémon Gen 1 re-release and Sun/Moon that are obvious throwbacks, Digimon Adventure tri, and Yu-Gi-Oh is getting a new movie too. Nostalgia is a lucrative business.

That said, I am here for this and so is my salary.
I'm just afraid that with all the nostalgia revivals, these companies might mess up or muck people childhoods interests by overextending their boundaries and instead lost the concept originality and quality of making high quality new products

It's sorta of like Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. They weren't exactly needed to successors to their predecessors and they kinda ruin the idea of each Final Fantasy being a stand alone title and they kinda made things overcomplicated.

Not really the same thing IMO ... that said, it's not like the existence of these things changes anything about the originals.

I don't agree. Final Fantasy X-2 ruined the bittersweet ending of FFX. Serious Answer.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 and lightning returns weren't bad but the fact that they put it as part of the XIII series and literally mucked up the point of the ending of XIII by adding extend plotlines while leaving previous plot holes open and then more plotholes by extending plotholes.

I think if they had made XIII-2 and Lightning Returns separate parts of fabula nova crystallis not an extension of FFXIII, the games would have held more value in the gaming community then it did. It's a shame too. FFXIII-2 was really good minus plot holes and ending. Noel and Caius were both groundbreaking characters and Lightning Returns gameplay was amazing.
This is getting a bit off-topic. I would just say that the original story exists as it was originally formed, and anything else is just supplementary material. You don't have to include it in your consideration of the original work.

I can't deny the nostalgia point, but your examples are all related to anniversaries actually:
  • Yu-Gi-Oh is 20: Movie release, endless spam of older products and rehashes of old cards.
  • Pokemon is 20: Virtual Console releases of RBY and Mystery Dungeon, Sun/Moon, bank support for Gen 1, Pokken Tournament, Pokemon Go.
  • Digimon is 15: New game release, Digimon tri, merchandise push.
All of them are anniversary nostalgia throw-ins because "HURR DURR NOSTALGIA COME BACK TO US FANS". This just seems to be a small scale one-time nostalgia throw-in because "Hey, Burst is popular, let's capitalise on the older fans just once". It's a more respectable nostalgia, haha.

Nonetheless, I'm pretty excited for this one-shot anyway. Should be a great throwback!
I will put all my efforts towards helping with the translation and release for this as much as I can. I can't wait for this!!

The only old fans we'll get at this point are respectable old gen fans or nostalgic blind manchildren who refuses to accept any other series that isn't theirs "CUZ ITZ MA CHULDHOOD WAHH WAHH!".
can anyone tell me where i can read raw beyblade burst manga chapter 9-10?
If a chapter is available, you'll be able to read it on it's Beyblade Wiki article. In regards o the specific chapters you're asking for, check the download thread. I've given a guideline on when I'll have 9 available.

What other kinds of old fans are there, though? That seems to cover all of the bases.

Apart from those two, I'm not sure, there could be those casual players who remember it as their childhood but don't get all nostalgia blind over it.

You forgot the people who does fanworks.

There was some time when fans believed Kai married a girl called Misao. It was hilarious, because the girl was an original character from a doujinshi.

LOL I never knew about that, probably because people like to pair their OCs with Kai or Ryuga so darn much. But it's nothing compared to the over glorification of episode 30 and it's weird space background, but they take it in such a wrong way that I start to see it, even if I'm sure it's definitely not true.

But not all the plastics fanbase are like that.

Actually, I knew a plastic fanboy, so stupid, so ignorant... making one stupid reason to hate Zero G, reason: "Because they acknowledge Ginga and Legend Bladers as... Legend Bladers... Instead of Kai and Takao...", ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?! Does that guy not realise that these series are in separate universes, he would have to explain why Takao didn't smack Nemesis around with MSUV, and the legend Bladers are legend Bladers so of course they'll be known as such.
i remember when i found out madhouse animated the first season of beyblade, i was shocked, and then i imagined how godlike the quality of the anime series could have been if it was done by madhouse.

does anyone know why madhouse only animated the first season of beyblade.

also beyblade is probably one of the only anime series which i have to watch twice, simply because waiting for the dub to come out is frustrating, soi just watch raw, and then dubbed.

also i decided to rewatch brooklyn vs tyson for fun, then i realized could brooklyn have actually destroyed the world. also did he basically become a god, shaping the world in his own image.
Bakuten Shoot is kinda the worst looking of the three seasons, isn't it? Minus a few extremely well-done episodes. I like the unusualness of the art style, but Bakuten definitely predates Madhouse's ascent into greatness.
Yeah it's animation was cheaper looking, and it's art style was ridiculous but I loved it nonetheless! It was charming and I like the hand drawn blades.

i know the art wasn't that great in the first season compared to later seasons. but great series like trigun were created during 1998, and that had great art and animation.
especially seeing the greatness that was one punch man last year, i really do wonder what beyblade could have looked like if it was still done by madhouse.
