I think some of the X mega evo are more enhanced or a bit more powerful which is good for strategic use. Also Xerneas has two different forms, Neutral Mode and Active Mode. AKA Arcues the II. I haven't tried Y yet though, but I will try it once I get my 5th badge from X then take a break from it.
