Yeah my neo cross horn didn't even survive assembly no matter how careful I was.
[Plastics] :: Competitive Custom List and Public Discussion
Just made a pretty big update to the list. Some interesting additions and removals:
Wing Attack Ring has been added for Zombies and Weight Defense with Wide Defense. This is a shock, but try it. It actually has rather low recoil when a wide WD covers its contact points and the wings actually seem to give it some grinding ability without hurting survival. It's quite good, if a little fragile.
War Monkey has been added in Left Spin and its SAR in Left and Right Spin to relevant Core ARs. It actually has very low recoil in Left Spin and great synergy with its own SAR, but also works well with War Lion. It's really very good.
Great Dragon has been listed with War Lion SAR in right spin. It's also pretty good in left but not quite good enough. In Right though, it's a powerhouse with the ability to hit over Circle Survivor.
Neo Cross Horn has been removed - this is a contentious one but it is my opinion that if a part can't make it through a tournament reliably it isn't competitive. Perhaps Capricon Strike G's is better, there is some evidence in the lack of broken bit chip prongs, but on the whole I'm not confident in listing it when there are alternatives with similar or greater power that don't have crippling fragility issues. I have left SG Grip Change Base Up as it is unique in the metagame - this is something I will have a lot more to say on in future.

Here are the test results, as requested by th!nk, for Grip Change Base (Sharp Tip Mode) in a pure Defense set up vs Customize Grip Base (with Tip) based attackers, and an additional set of results with a Dark Wing AR + War Lion SAR attack custom to observe the KO resistance of Grip Change Base (Sharp Tip Mode) when placed in a suitable set up.
I've recorded videos for each test as this saves me writing things out and you can see for yourselves how everything behaves, and also to put my testing under scrutiny. Start of rounds timestamped in the video description.

th!nk has also tested Defense Grip Base (Sharp Tip Mode) and observed similar behaviour with regards to KO resistance, and I will do some 20 rounds testing for it with videos unless this is not needed, let me know. I have briefly tested DGB (Sharp Tip Mode) however only for 10 rounds; it does show similar behaviour/KO resistance to GCB (Sharp Tip Mode) and also the same weakness in being able to be out spun by CGB based attackers, with similar win rates as above. The results for these brief tests are below (no videos).
Test 4
Combo 1: Dark Wing AR + Dark Wing SAR + Wide Defense + Right SG + Bearing Version 2 Shaft casing w/ Grip Change Base Tip SG + Customize Bearing Base BB + Survivor Ring SP (alignment under the Dark Wing AR contact points)
Combo 2: War Lion AR + Dragon Saucer SAR + Wide Defense WD + Neo Right (HMC) SG + Defense Grip Base (Sharp Tip) BB

Thanks for that. So, here's the context:
Pure Grip Defense
So, Seaborg's base in defense mode is a wall, and with the prevalence of really powerful, higher recoil attack types, and because SGMF2 is a bit less relevant, it can't be ignored any more as its stamina is enough to do the job against the two most powerful attack tips (and grip base, generally)
It takes hits better than anything else in the game - though Uriel 2's SG Grip Change Base would quite possibly be a superior alternative it is basically not feasible due to fragility - an interesting case where the meta would be more accurate with a 3d printed copy than in its current state (that's for a future thinkpiece and I have some coming to hopefully do testing with to confirm how good it is and how accurate it might br) - the current method of reusing the tip does not allow for an HMC and as a result performs poorly. rxmnrng's testing showd the capability.
There are some risks and weaknesses. Because the base barely moves when hit, the AR has to take the full force of the hit itself. I've already broken a Roller Defense Ring and a Tiger Defenser trying to yeet this thing with Square Edge. The base is possibly more likely to lose a battle through breakage of itself or its AR than by KO. rxmnrng also ran into this. As such getting testing numbers has been difficult for me. rxmnrng has shown extreme bravery in many aspects of his testing.
Some build notes: Low recoil ARs only. Smash turtle does not provide any benefit like it does to weight defense.
Wide Defense gets hit a little further than 10h but not enough to really be significantly easier to KO and then has the stamina to reliably outspin DGB(ATK), SG GCB and Grip Base opponents even if they hit and then Tornado Stall - I would consider it the optimal choice especially as it shields the AR a bit. Spark Attack Ring is viable here too, funnily enough, but only with wide defense, otherwise with 10H its stamina issues are woeful.
Like RS in MFB, it is more effective against same spin, and while still capable against opposite spin, it's not going to stop the big boys. Interesting dynamic.
One really interesting thing for the meta though is that it does usually lose to Customise Grip Base Tip setups, and the LAD of SG GCB tip in CGB in opposite spin makes that a bad match up. The former really lets cgb carve out a niche among the top Attack BBs, between that and advantages vs Circle Survivor.
So, predictably specialised but nonetheless competitive due to changes in the meta - and an example of the impact that fragile parts are having on the meta's accuracy...

Dgb for defense is interesting. A defense option that I like to use is:
Smash turtle
10 heavy
Bearing version 2
Fortress base (4 balls, but also works well with 2 balls if 4 isn't legal, I can't recall.)
I haven't done any standard testing with it yet, as I'm waiting for other parts to arrive so I can produce benchmarks. From the tests that I have done, It has ko resistance rivaling circle survivor due to its heavy weight and grip, and doesn't lose much stamina due to the bearing. The weaknesses with this combo are its lack of any useful LAD, along with its vulnerability to upper attack. I'll update y'all when I can get proper testing done.

I've looked at this before but it doesn't work well. It's still not *that* hard to KO and the stamina is awful - mine is outspun by Grip Base for example. It can only have two balls in it legally (it isn't designed for 4) and cannot use wide WDs to help with stamina due to the fact that even with 2 they can fly out if not using the stock SG. The weight is also not great. CGB+Defense Ring is about 7.9g while fortress base with 2 metal balls is only 7.6g.
It's a neat and interesting idea but fortress base is unfortunately a very crippled part.
Grip Defense has been added to the CC List. Please note that SG Grip Change Base is only included as it is theoretically the best option for the type - in practice, it isn't really usable due to fragility.
I highly recommend you guys test this combo out yourselves. This combo is overpowered. smash turtle seriously overpowered as hell. With a left spin sg bearing 2 version is really good at life after death. SG (bearing version 2) is as good as bearing driver from burst. I think this might be a zombie combo.
ATTACK RING: smash turtle (Hasbro/Takara)
WEIGHT DISK: wide defense (Takara)
SPIN GEAR: Left SG (bearing version 2)

It's basically a defensive zombie using Smash Turtle. I've tested it before and it's okay, but Smash Turtle falls slightly short for spin stealing vs more conventional options. It may help in certain same spin match ups, mind. So, it's a solid combo, but it does tend to perform just a bit worse than most of the options here - super close tho.
I need to update the OP to match the more up to date version on my site still, but leaving a few notes.
First, I have proposed an updated rule book HERE
Couple things to add
Hasbro's Neo Cross Horn does not appear to have breakage issues (thanks Sheev Palpatine for testing this), while it is somewhat soft it doesn't break, so it is to go back up for both directions of Smash Attack.
Mirage Goddess is also viable for Left Spin SSA (actually a number of ARs are missing here at the moment - I am sure I updated this thread but it must not have saved).
Lastly, I am hopeful that staff will make the decision to legalise inverting the tip of Storm Grip Base to give traditional upper attack a chance to come back. Here is the entry for the type in that case, sans formatting, plus a note.
Storm Grip Base (Inverted) to be added to Smash Attack
Traditional Upper Attack
Attack Rings:
Right Spin:
Corona Saber
Cross Attacker
Gigantic Claw
Square Edge
Triangle Wing
Triple Tiger
Triple Wing
Upper Claw
Upper Claw (RC Version)
Upper Dragoon
War Lion + Screw Zeus (May be fragile)
War Monkey + Screw Zeus
Whale Crusher
Left Spin:
Corona Saber
G Upper
Penta Wing
Square Edge
Triangle Wing
Upper Claw (RC Version)
Upper Dragoon
Whale Attacker (Can be fragile in this direction due to UV damage, some colours such as Navy are fragile).
Weight Disks:
Wide Defense
Ten Heavy
Heavy Attack
Ten Balance
Ten Wide
Star Attack (with Penta Wing only)
Spin Gears
Neo Right/Left HMC/Magnecores (write out in full)
Blade Base:
Storm Grip Base (Inverted Tip)
(Tier 2 options include SG Metal Flat Base (Gaia Dragoon V Version, Storm Grip Base (Regular Tip), and Metal Change Base)
Note that this gives a number of previously non-competitive parts use as well. Very nice.

Okay so recently got in to plastics and have a question.
I see in the rule book it is legal to flip Seaborg’s tip, can I also do this with Cyber Dragoon Battle Specs tip?
Edit: I checked the proposed rule book and it says it is fine. I may not be able to use it like that in tournaments yet, but it won’t break!

Hey man, welcome to plastics!
IMO it should be legalised, but plastic tipped attack in plastics is kinda meh. If you don't want to go all in on rubber, you should defs try to get a Gaia Dragoon V for the metal flat. It'll achieve more in terms of OS. Or if you want something similar to the attack+lad combos of burst, you could look at a spin stealing attack combo too, though they're kinda part intensive.
Ha! That’s funny as I already ordered Gaia Dragoon V! Some others I have ordered/own are Driger V2, Wolborg 4/1, Wyborg, Gaia Dragoon V, Cyper Dragoon Battle Specs, and Dranzer V.

Good purchases - try to pick up a Takara or Sonokong metal driger for a heavy metal core and 10 Heavy, plus a Wide Defense weight disk, they will round you out nicely. After that maybe a Driger S and a Dragoon V2 just for some more versatile parts, but what you have is quite workable.
I want a dragoon V2 and Dranzer V2 along with driger f , Seaborg (for the bb and spin gear), burning cerberous, rock bison, trygle, Wolborg 2, Flash Leopard 2, griffolyon, master dragoon, driger g and dragoon g. I won’t be able to get any more for a while. Maybe for my Birthday.

You're in MD right? I recall there being a good seller there too who might get you fairer prices on stuff, if you aren't already dealing with them. Always super exciting to see people getting into plastics nowadays, so if you need any help hit me up - the discord channel is full of helpful peeps too if you venture there

I'll shoot you a PM as I don't know if they like stuff posted publicly haha :)
Okay, big change - I am now mostly copy-pasting from the DB... Line by line after realising a straight copy-paste does nasty things but hey, it's there now so I'm just gonna roll with it. I don't mean to do this for self promotion (I don't make money from PlasticsDB - it's straight loss because I pay for hosting and don't run ads etc), just because it's easier for me and hopefully easier for people to find part info to interpret the list. If anyone has issues, let me know and I can look at changing that :)
Has anyone had a suck spin gear. I have one and i m not sure how to get it unstuck.
Thanks!
Thanks!
The list has been updated with Traditional Upper Attack in light of the legalisation of Storm Grip Tip Flip. Thank you to the staff who made this decision.
I'm looking for Spin Gear (SG): Right SG (Bearing Version ) Blade Base (BB): Defense Grip Base 2 combos it doesn't have to have Blade Base (BB): Defense Grip Base 2. I do have dranzer s and driger f since I've read that Spin Gear (SG): Right SG (Bearing Version ) can be used with them. I do want to test Spin Gear (SG): Right SG (Bearing Version ) vs Spin Gear (SG): Right SG (Bearing Version ) battle.
I'm looking for some good zombie combos or smash combos. Here's a link to my Instagram with all the parts I have. If you guys actually want to join this tournament I'm doing for my channel let me know.

Gyro EG Survival has T-Posed its way onto the CC List.
Gyro EG Survival
A relatively recent discovery, Gyro EG Survival combinations rely on the eponymous Gyro Engine Gear's bizarre Gyro gimmicks to outspin opponents. These are thus: firstly, Gyro Engine Gear is the only Dual-Spin-In-Match part in the original series of Beyblade - in a sense, this bizarre thing is not only a precursor to Magical Ape MS, but also the entirety of HMS. More importantly, in Gyro Mode, the entire body of the Beyblade aside from the Engine Gear's pseudo Weight Disk part and CEW are free spinning on a pair of bearings. This means that unlike most Beyblades which lose spin by grinding against opponents, it largely ignores this. In addition, due to this outer part having so little momentum that it can actually be stopped or reversed on contact, it is practically impossible to steal spin from a Gyro EG combination... However all of this is contingent on just how freely the bearings used spin, and the combination is only viable with two good Shielded Metal Ball Bearings. Nonetheless, when it works it is nearly impossible to outspin, being able to switch spin directions at will and creating a bizarre visual almost akin to T-Posing over its opponents as they keel over and die. However, limited defensive ability does make it a sitting duck versus aggressive opponents, meaning it is slightly more risky than Zombies in this sense. As a spinning mess of ruling nightmares, it also must be remembered that the combinations "spinning vs stopped" determination is based on the metal piece and CEW still being spinning rather than the AR and BB.

I'm getting back into plastic generation combos. I'll be testing more combos. I'll need to do testing on it but I think it'll be good.
