Hello everyone.
Before we discuss anything, let's get this straight. (Click to View)

After surviving the apocalypse (caused by Lavos haha), all that is left of the world is a destroyed future with little hope for humanity. Warriors roaming the land find themselves drawn into clashes over food, water and any usable resources. Survival of the fittest reigns supreme. However, while those samurais are clashing with swords, NYC bladers will be clashing with with Samurai Changers, Ifraids and Pegasi at Samurai Showdown!

I will be cohosting with Cyber Blader, who is also a well-established member in the NYC Beyblade community and is equally dependable.

Name: Samurai Showdown
Date: December 22nd, 2012

Venue: Hecksher Playground, Central Park, NY, NY

It is assuredly a very safe location to play in, and plus we have safety in numbers after all.

WARNING: There will be cold weather during this time. Temperatures are expected to be in the 40s, so dress warm! There are snack carts nearby, but the prices might be slightly expensive, so it's best to bring food from home.
Some Additional Info courtesy of one of our members: (Click to View)

Format: MFB, then Zero-G
I wish for a HMS or plastic tournament, but I know it's not going to happen and I don't have nearly enough older beys to lend out. This is subject to change however, if other circumstances arise.
Registration/Starting Time: 1 PM, Registration will occur in the half hour or more before that (aka at noon). If neither of the hosts are there immediately, sit tight and we'll definitely get there in time.

On another note, STEALING OF ANY KIND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. NYC has has a history of stolen parts and even unrelated objects like a 3DS, which is incredibly shameful. You and any family members present are responsible for your belongings due to being in a public place, but if either Cyber Blader or I find any note of stealing and can confirm that it was stolen, there will be consequences for the culprit.

Prize Pool: (1st place = 1st pick, etc.)
Red Galeon + Plastic Right-Spin Launcher
2 Tiger Defenser (green) + Smash Turtle (red)
Thunder Dragon (HMS) Light Blue Hasbro (no spark paper)
The prizes are old generation Beyblades, however they are sadly used. They are still in very manageable condition though, and are fully legal for play. They are also all competitive!

All sellers who have posted in this thread stating their merchandise will be listed under this spoiler.

I think I've covered all the bases here, now we just need you! Don't forget to sign up for this so that we can become an official event! The fees are waived during this week, but you can still purchase a Blader Passport for 10 USD and receive a year-long, unrestricted access to special giveaways and other tournaments hosted by the WBO!
Note: I'll also have a 'Happy Anniversary WBO!' sign so we can take some pictures with it during the tournament.

So let's stop failing, and let's get NYC blading again!

We're playing on synthetic surfaces, not grass. We should be fine in terms of dampness, synthetic surfaces lose water easily.

My only concern is if the weather persists until tomorrow. Strong winds are predicted, but only a 20% chance of rain. We should be okay, but I'll move to the bandshell if necessary, so check tonight and tomorrow morning.
we should just bring a blanket or something and move to the play ground. that synthetic play area retains a lot of water
Cyber or I can bring one sure, but usually one of the main draws of synthetic playground surfaces is that they don't absorb or hold much water.

I find your statement rather difficult to believe...
the fake grass usually gets a little moist but its really no problem, the problem is have to keep cleaning the stadiums from the little pebbles.
That's fine, I can handle that easily.

But yeah, I thought it would be odd that synthetic surfaces would be holding water. That would only be an issue if you sat on the ground with your legs spread in front of you, so that you would get your bottom completely soaked...
Ga can I bring a table to play on cause it's easier to play on for me and the other people
Sure, go ahead.
Sorry for the double post.

Alright everyone, see you tomorrow! We'll be bringing BB-10s, Zero-G Attack Stadiums, towels, cardboard, etc. JE, if you could bring your Zero-G stadium that would be an enormous help.

The weather looks good as of right now, if something changes by morning I'll notify a move to the bandshell.
No, sorry i cant make it. I hope everyone has a good time.
Take me off the list
I wish can come but I can but I can due to the holidays and the up coming weather
I will come to another New York Tourney but not this one I wanted to come because the get a beypassport and the WBO anniversary point =(
Can't wait to see you guys tommorow. I'm trying to get in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. Oh and i'll be buying something from you Go'hooleone
hey ga how long do you think this tourny would be or until what time?
I don't know, it depends on the turnout. We have a Zero-G and a MFB tournament, so that might take longer.

It looks like a Block Round Robin at this point, but if more people show we will have a Double Elimination. I might have to restrict the tournament size for Zero-G simply because we have less stadiums and the tournament will be going on far too long.
Sorry can't come take me of the list hope you guys have fun
Ga' I can't bring my zero g stadium anymore because I didn't got my package in time but I still can bring my bb-10
Hm, alright then. We'll need to decrease the roster for Zero-G, sign ups begin when Cyber and I are both there. We only have one Zero-G Stadium then, so if anyone does have one bringing one would still be very helpful.
Alright, so as of right now there's a 40% chance of showers during the tournament time.

We'll try for the playground, but if by 10:30 the precipitation chance goes above 50 then we'll move to the bandshell.

If you have directions to the Playground already and I do announce a change in location, just simply follow Center Drive north, continue onto East Drive and then another left onto Terrace Drive. You should be able to turn there and hop over to the Bandshell
can someone record?
Cyber Blader is recording.
I thought you weren't coming though?...

EDIT: The chance of precipitation has dropped to 30 and below, so we are now most likely staying in the playground.

i'm not coming
Can wait to battle everyone I also need to make a new combo also I remember it is going to be cold so I dressing really warmly.
Good for you, gmanbolt5. This is exactly what everyone should be doing. Dress warmly, it's cold and there's wind.

Also, let's get our beyspirit up! I don't want another dull tournament like the last two I've been two. Let's see some excitement!

EDIT: Alright everyone, I'm heading out now. The stage is set AT THE PLAYGROUND!

See you all there!
Hey Go'Hooleone, i'm leaving my house in Jersey City at 11:00 (Jersey City is like 10 minutes away from New York, New York). I'll be there early, just in time to battle a little earlier. And plus if it rains, I hope were not playing on concrete. That'll mess up everyone's beys. And also I have a BB-10 at my house, so if you need it, I can bring it. So i'll see you at the Tourney!
Is heckscher park on the west or east side
