“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” I pulled the ripcord as hard as I could. Across me was my opponent, Kaden. He grinned as his Beyblade Khione took the center and glowed. Meanwhile, my Beyblade spun around the stadium with very little control.
“Huh?” I cried out. “Vulcan, what’s happening?”
Kaden grinned. “This’ll be easy.”
Vulcan began to wobble. “No! Vulcan!”
Vulcan rolled to a halt.
“One point to Kaden with a survivor finish! That makes the score 1-nothing!”
I quickly put my Bey on the launcher. “You won’t beat us this time.”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Vulcan quickly circled the center and attempted to knock Khione away. Khione glowed as it shot back into the center. Vulcan began rapidly attacking it. “Full power! Haaaaaaah!”
“Khione! Iceberg Wall!”
Khione deflected Vulcans attack and sent it flying out of the stadium. “One point to Kaden with a ring out finish! Kaden wins 2-nothing!”
I picked up my Beyblade and began walking away sadly. “Ah poop! The tournament starts in 4 minutes!” Kaden cried out. I realized he was battling first!
“Let’s go!” I called and we both began running to the tournament.
We barely made it in time. Kaden quickly ran up stage and called out, panting, “I’m here! You can start now!”
I sighed as I sped into the waiting room chair. “Safe!”
“You’re 3 minutes late!” An official angrily said.
“Sorry, I had to stop for water.”
I sat down. “Late again, Vince! When will you be on time!”
“Ah, be quiet, Oliver.” Another voice came from the seats, which I recognized as Alexander.
“Look!” I interrupted, pointing at the screen. “Kaden’s battle is starting!”
Kaden launches and Khione took the center. “Iceberg Wall!” The opponent’s bey burst as soon as they collided. “2 points to Kaden with a burst finish! Kaden wins 2-0!”
I kept watching as the room emptied and people battled on screen. Finally, it was my turn to battle against Theodore, a powerful attack-type blader.
I grinned as I walked up to the stage. Theodore held up his beyblade, Bolt Thor. “Meet Bolt Thor, the strongest bey on the planet.”
I looked at him and responded, “Doesn’t matter how strong Thor is, Vulcan and I will beat it.”
We both prepared. “Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!”
Thor and Vulcan both circled the stadium and then struck each other in the center. They clashed.
“Thor! Mjolnir Attack!” Vulcan was flung from the stadium.
“One point to Theodore with a Ring Out Finish! Theodore is winning 1-0.”
“Huh? What just happened?” Theodore grinned. “I told you you couldn’t beat us.”
I looked at Vulcan. “How did he beat us so easily?”
Vulcan gleamed. I didn’t notice but a bronze flame aura formed around me and Vulcan’s beast appeared around me, flames glowing from within its furnace-like torso.
I grinned. “I get it now!” I looked up and put my Beyblade on my launcher. “Theodore! We got a new move that you won’t beat!”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!”
Vulcan quickly leaned down and blasted around the stadium. “Let’s go! White-Hot Sabers!”
A long white-hot trail extended from the tip, replacing the original dark red trail. Vulcan blazed above me and together we slashed down against Theodore’s aura, which had just blazed into existence.
“No! Mjolnir Attack!” Thor’s hammer struck against Vulcan’s sword.
My sword and Thor’s hammer clashed, and then Thor burst and it’s beast disintegrated.
“No! How? We went full power!” Theodore sagged to the ground.
I ran around the stadium and helped him up. “Do you want to join me? I’m starting a new team called the Super Bladers!”
He grinned. “If you can beat me you must be good! Of course I’ll join!”
“Huh?” I cried out. “Vulcan, what’s happening?”

“Hello, Bladers! Welcome to the tournament! If you missed it, we just finished the first round! Starting off the day is Kaden Frost!” The announcer cried out.
I quickly looked up at the tv and watched as Kaden Frost launched.
Khione took the center and easily began deflecting the opponent’s attacks. “Iceberg Wall!”
The opponents beyblade struck it and burst. Kaden grinned as he scooped up his beyblade. The opponent sadly trudged away. I grinned.
“Next up is...” The room began emptying as more and more people went to battle. Again, I was called last, to battle Alexander.
I walked up to the stadium. Alexander was waiting, having cartwheeled up the stairs to the stadium. “Face the power of Massacre Ares! It’s the strongest attack type ever!”
I grinned. “You may have another contender for that.”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Ares and Vulcan began circling super fast, forming a dark maroon circle from the two trails, Ares zooming faster. “Let’s go! War Burst!” Ares suddenly clicked and blasted forwards, sending Vulcan flying from the stadium.
“One point to Alexander with a ring out finish. Alexander is currently winning 1-0.”
“Nice attack, but this time, it’ll fail.”
Alexander grinned after hearing that. “If you say so.”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Both circled the stadium quickly. “Again! War Burst!” There was a click and Ares sped up, zooming towards Vulcan. “Vulcan! Dodge it!” Vulcan suddenly looped around in a circle and began following Ares, before eventually slamming it into it and pushing it into the wall, causing it to grind against the wall. “Ares! War Crash!” Ares’ extra blades extended outwards and knocked Vulcan back. Vulcan, knocked off balance, began speeding up and its trail turned white-hot. “Vulcan! White-Hot Sabers!”
Vulcan quickly clashed against Ares and they began to grind against each other, both losing stamina. They both separated, wobbling, each about to fall. As soon as Ares’ disc touched the stadium, it burst. We both fell backwards, exhausted.
I grinned. “Good match.” I got up and walked over to help him up. Alexander smiled. “I heard you are starting a new team. Can I join?”
“The more the merrier!”
“Well, those were some exciting matches for round 2, but let’s get on to the semifinals! First up, we have an exciting match between Kaden Frost and Oliver Delia! And then we have Vincent Blaze versus Matthew Cyrus!”

“Tomorrow are the semi-finals, so get rest tonight and be ready for tomorrow!” The announcer called.
I began walking from the stage looking down at Vulcan, when I suddenly crashed into someone and fell down. I looked up and gasped when I saw...
Xhaka! “Are you really Xhaka? THE Xhaka?” I asked.
“That’s me,” He said, grinning.
“Wait. That means that you’re one of the Super Six!”
“Yep! I saw your battles and I think you’re going to need some training if you’re going to battle Matthew! Come train at my dojo!”
I grinned. “That sounds like a great idea!”
He showed me the path to the dojo and pointed up a mountain. “There it is.”
I gaped as I looked up the stairs. “532 stairs. You gotta go up all of them to begin your training.”
He began jogging up the stairs and I followed. I suddenly began to feel as if the stairs seemed to lengthen. Halfway there I was clearly slowing down, but Xhaka was way ahead. He made it up about 20 min before me and hardly sweating. I collapsed.
“How am I supposed to do a battle after that?” I panted, exhausted.
Xhaka grinned. “Yep, that was Valt’s first reaction too.”
“Wait, Valt’s been here too? Valt Aoi? Woah!”
Xhaka grinned. “We train the best of the best!”
I hopped up and entered the dojo with Xhaka. Inside was a stadium with four spinning circles and a flat center with a small indent in the center.
“This is the Ultra Crash Stadium, a very challenging stadium to battle in.”
“Can I battle you?”
Suddenly a Blader dropped from the ceiling. “You must face me first. My name is Felix Thompson and I use Terror Phobos.”
“Seems simple enough.”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Vulcan began circling the stadium before hitting a spinning circle and being launched into the wall. Phobos quickly locked itself into the indent. Vulcan began bouncing off the walls and hitting the spinning circles and gaining more and more speed.
Finally, Vulcan hit a wall and was launched at a super high speed towards Phobos, who burst from the force of the attack.
Felix gasped. “One hit! I’m impressed. I guess I must practice more.”
Xhaka grinned and pulled out his Beyblade. “I think you’re ready to face me and Saber Xcalibur!”

I gasped when I saw the Beyblade. “Is that Buster Xcalibur’s evolution?”
Xhaka grinned. “You know so much about me, you should know this.”
I realized that he didn’t own Buster Xcalibur, that was Xhan’s. “Oh, it was Xhan’s Beyblade, so this is the evolution of Sieg Xcalibur?”
Xhaka, who had been watching me closely, grinned as I realized. “Yep. Xhan is still using his Buster Xcalibur, and I’m using mine. Now, are you ready to battle?”
I grinned, gaining a sparkle in my eyes. “Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” There was a rip! as my string tore off and went flying. I ignored it. Xcalibur began circling the stadium fast, while Vulcan was bouncing from a spinning circle off the wall to another spinning circle repeatedly, gaining speed but missing Xcalibur, but getting slightly closer every time.
Vulcan bounced off the wall and hit Xcalibur. It clicked and was sent flying upwards. “Yes!” I cried aloud. Xhaka grinned. “Did you think it would be that easy?” Xcalibur clicked again in midair and the swords from the layer, disc, frame, and driver lined up. “Let’s go! Final Impact!” Xcalibur crashed down on Vulcan and burst it.
Xhaka grinned. “Looks like you need some practice!”
I sat down. “I guess.” I frowned. “How did you beat me?!”
Xhaka’s grin left his face. “Whoa, you can’t win every battle. Besides, did you think you could beat a member of the Super Six?”
I sighed. “Wait, its first to three!” I realized and hopped up. “Let’s end this, Xhaka!”
“Hold on one second, Vince.” He left. A few minutes later he returned, carrying a red launcher. “This is the Digital Sword Launcher that I used when I had Sieg Xcalibur. I want you to use it.” I grinned. “Yes!”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” There was an extra burst of power from the launcher as Vulcan was shot like a rocket into the stadium. “Vulcan! White-Hot Sabers!” Vulcan blasted like a rocket towards Xcalibur, sending it into a wall. It clicked from both collisions.
Xcalibur took the center of one of the spinning circles and began to speed up. Vulcan slashed towards it and knocked it away with a click. “Xcalibur! Maximum Impact!” The swords all lined up, and two blades protrudes from the driver, boosting the attack further. Xcalibur struck Vulcan and it was sent flying out the door. “Vulcan!” I quickly ran down the stairs, adrenaline causing me to speed up. I leapt into the air at the bottom and caught the Beyblade.
It had a long scrape over the top. Xhaka, who quickly scaled the stairs behind me, frowned. “Ooh, sorry. I can fix it.”
I grinned. “No thanks! This is like a trophy of our battle!” He grinned. “Only you or Valt would look at it that way!”
Xhaka grinned. “You know so much about me, you should know this.”

“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Kaden Frost and Oliver Powers clashed at the stadium in the semi-finals. I watched as Freezing Khione took the center. “Freeze! Iceberg Wall!”
Khione’s driver formed a small tornado that held it in place against Black Ouroboros’ attacks. “Hahaha! You think weak defense like that can block us? Not much longer! Sorcerers Slash!” Ouroboros’ beast formed around him, a sleek snake-like dragon with silver wings and a black head. Ouroboros glowed and formed a black tornado of obsidian crystals. It blasted into Khione. Khione was sent flying from the stadium.
Kaden easily caught it. “One point to Oliver Powers and Black Ouroboros with a ring out finish! That makes the score 1-nil!” Kaden slopped it back onto the launcher and grinned, pushing a small tab on the launcher quietly.
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Khione took the center, gliding effortlessly. Ouroboros struck it, pushing it forward. With a blast of wind, it blew away Ouroboros and began spinning faster, Ouroboros spinning slower. “Ouroboros! Dark Crush!”
Ouroboros’ layer fit over Khione’s and began to push it into the stadium. “Khione! Freezing Spin!” Khione pushed Ouroboros away and began to drain its spin. Ouroboros continued to attack, but with each strike it weakened and Khione grew stronger.
Eventually, Ouroboros began to wobble. “No! Ouroboros!” Ouroboros rolled to a stop. “1 point to Kaden with a survivor finish! The score is tied, 1-1!”
“Go Kaden!” I called out. Kaden looked at me in the audience and called back, “I’ll see you in the finals! Let me to my battle and you to yours!”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Kaden launched and Khione took the center. This time, Ouroboros was spinning left. “Ouroboros! Darkness Crush!” This time Khione was spinning right. “Block that! Iceberg Wall!” Khione easily deflected it. Oliver realized his mistake. “Ouroboros! Sorcerers Slash!” Ouroboros was surrounded in a black tornado with black crystals drifting through it. It smashed into Khione, flinging it straight up.
“Khione! Glacier Crush!” Khione was surrounded in an orb of ice and it smashed down on Ouroboros. It was sent flying from the stadium. “One point to Kaden Frost with a ring out finish! That makes the score 2-1!”
Oliver’s beast glowed into existence around him. “Haaahh!” He roared. He looked at Kaden, eyes glowing solid purple. “Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” In a blaze of violet light, the launcher disintegrated. Ouroboros was spinning left again. So was Khione. “Hold down the fort! Iceberg Wall!” Khione took the center.
Ouroboros quickly formed a black tornado and glowed. “Full power! Ultra Sorcerer Slash!” Ouroboros struck Khione with all of its power. There was a crack and suddenly Khione burst, the layer splitting in half. “Khione!” Kaden cried out. “Two points to Oliver Powers with a burst finish! Oliver Powers wins 3-2!”
I gasped, realizing that if I beat Matthew, I would have to face Oliver Powers.
Khione’s driver formed a small tornado that held it in place against Black Ouroboros’ attacks. “Hahaha! You think weak defense like that can block us? Not much longer! “Go home and get a good night’s rest so you can watch Vincent battle Matthew tomorrow! I know that they will!” The announcer called out. I began to leave until I ran into Kaden. “Follow me.”
I followed him outside. He lead me to an outside stadium. “This is where I practice. Launch.”
“What? Why?”
“Just launch.”
I launched and Vulcan began zooming around the stadium. “Launch stronger. You’ll need to improve your launch if you want to win.” I launched again. And again. And again. And I kept launching as the number on my launcher began to go higher and higher.
Suddenly, I began noticing something odd. Late in battle, it was losing all power. “See that? That is what I wanted to show you. Your Beyblade is trying to do something.” Kaden said.
“What is it?”
“I don’t know, it’s your Beyblade.”
I picked up Vulcan and studied it. What are you trying to do, Vulcan?
I flashed back to when Kaden first got Khione. We had both watched in awe as the Beyblade spun and stayed upright against the pull of gravity. I remembered being excited to turn 10 so that I could get my Beyblade too.
I thought back to my first launch. Vulcan had been bouncing off the walls and I had gasped at its power. But then it changed. It started taking the center and spinning faster.
I shook the memories out of my head. “Kaden, battle me.” He looked at me, confused. “I must figure this out.” He nodded when he realized what I wanted to do. “Three! Two! One! Let it...
Rip!” Vulcan began quickly attacking Khione, who easily deflected the attacks. “Khione! Iceberg Wall!” Suddenly, Vulcan seemed to get taller and rounder. I gasped. “Vulcan, defense mode!” Vulcan began to roll into the center, pushing Khione away. It took the center.
“Wow!” I cried as it easily blocked Khione’s attacks. Soon, Vulcan began to wobble though, and it rolled to a halt before Khione did. We launched one more time, but this time I launched faster. When Vulcan began to spin weaker it began round and defensive.
“Vulcan! Furnace Lockdown!” Kaden grinned as I discovered a new move and tapped into Vulcans true potential.
I followed him outside. He lead me to an outside stadium. “This is where I practice. Launch.”

Kaden frowned has his Beyblade clicked back apart. “I forgot Khione was broken.” I said sadly as the pieces fell apart. Vulcan kept spinning.
“Nah, we were due for a little upgrade. Now go home, get a nice rest, and defeat Matthew!”
I returned home. The next day, I returned. "Welcome back, Bladers! Today we have an exciting match between Matthew Cyrus and Vincent Blaze!” I walked up to the stadium.
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!”
“End this! White-Hot Sabers!” Vulcan quickly struck Mars and flung it into the air. Matthew jumped up and caught Mars, grinning. He looked at Mars. “Interesting...” he muttered.
“One point to Vincent with a ring out finish! That makes the score 1-0!”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!”
“Let’s hit ‘em with a White-Hot Saber!” Vulcan struck Mars.
“Hah! Bloody Eruption!” A sword shot out of Mars and sent Vulcan flying.
“1 point to Matthew and Mars with a Ring Out Finish! That tied the score, 1-1!”
I picked up Vulcan. “Vulcan and I are going to beat you this time.
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!”
“White-Hot Sabers!” Vulcan’s trail glowed white-hot and it blasted into Mars, who took the center.
“Counter it! Bloody Eruption!” Vulcan was sent flying again, but not as high. It hit the wall and bounced off, wobbling. With a click it became slightly taller and rounded. It also regained its balance. Meanwhile, Mars suddenly sped up.
“Mars, use Warfare Burst!” Mars clicked and began to zoom around the stadium. “Now! Attack!”
“Vulcan, block it! Furnace Lockdown!” Vulcan’s outer rim glowed dark red.
Mars struck and a beast formed around Matthew: a tall golden armored warrior holding a golden sword. The sword had a red trim and there was a glowing maroon M in the center. Mars and Matthew swung their sword down, while we swung our bronze sword up. We clashed before Mars’ beast disintegrated and Catapult Mars burst.
“No, Mars!” Matthew cries out as Mars’ pieces flew into the air. I picked up Vulcan and grinned.
“Matthew, you’re pretty skilled. Do you want to join my team?”
Matthew shook my hand. “You’re not so bad yourself! Of course I’ll join!”

“Let it... Rip!” Naito launched Dark Deathscyther Heavy Revolve into the stadium. Lui launched Lost Longinus into the stadium at the same time. “Let’s go! Scythe Shield!” Naito wanted that Zillion Zeus prize badly. Longinus struck and easily flung it out. Naito gasped and picked it back up. “Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” This time, Deathscyther began spinning in a circle that allowed it to dodge Longinus’ attacks.
“Tear it to bits! Lost Spiral!” Longinus formed a black tornado and instantly changed directions and hit Deathscyther, tearing the clear part off and bursting it. “No! Deathscyther!” Naito picked it up. Lui grabbed the Zillion Zeus and threw it at Naito. It missed.
“Shut your whining, I didn’t want this Beyblade anyways.” Lui left, laughing maniacally. Naito took the Beyblade and went home. He stayed up late at night, when his parents were sleeping, and began to fuse the black pieces of Deathscyther together, having an idea. His little brother Zac came downstairs, yawning. “Naito, what are you doing this late?” Naito looked at him, quickly hiding the parts. “Nothing, go to sleep.” He said hastily.
Zac yawned and walked upstairs in his sun pajamas. Naito finished and slid the jagged black mask on. “Perfect.” He muttered. He returned to bed, sliding the mask under the bed. He fell asleep holding Zeus.
In the morning, he walked to a near tournament. The moment he saw the prize, he knew it had to be his.
Naito entered the building wearing his mask and joined the long line of people waiting to register and have their picture taken. As soon as he made it to the front, he punched in Naito. Naito stopped to think for a moment and then hit backspace.
He typed in Count Night. Then he hit enter and entered the waiting room which was half empty and waited as the room filled up around him. Finally it was time. “Welcome, bladers! Our tournament starts off with the, um, Count Night? The Count Night will be going up against Corey Black.”
“Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Zillion Zeus took the center as Corey’s Beyblade began attacking. “Go! Electro Shield!” Zeus’ outer rim glowed golden as it easily burst Corey’s Beyblade. Naito picked up Zeus. He grinned as he returned to the waiting room.
The rest of the tournament was easy up until the finals. He looked at the audience and saw Zac. Naito quickly adjusted the mask to make sure that Zac couldn’t see his face. He looked at his opponent, Kai. Kai held up his blue Beyblade.

Dranzer and Zeus both quickly zoomed towards the center. “Zeus! Electro Shield!” Zeus glowed golden and knocked Dranzer away. A part of the driver hit the stadium. Kai grinned as Dranzer bounced upright and began zooming around the stadium. “Let’s go! Flame Rapid Fire!” Dranzer began quickly changing directions and surrounded itself in fire.
Dranzer attacked a final time. The Beyblades clashed. Dranzer finally bounced away. Zeus swung up the stadium. “Electro Strike!” Zeus glowed golden again and swung down the stadium, bursting Dranzer. “Count Night wins 2-0!” Naito grabbed Baldur. He grinned as he left, leaving Kai surprised. He ran as fast as possible. He barely beat Zac and his parents. When Zac came home Naito grinned at him. “Guess what, little bro. I’ve got a new Beyblade for you.”
Zac gasped as he took the Beyblade and looked over it. Naito grinned. “Was that you at that tournament?”
Their parents walked up. “Of course it wasn’t. That kid had a mask and how would Naito have gotten there?”
Naito let out a long breath as quietly as possible, relieved his parents hadn’t figured it out. Now that he had Baldur, he was ready to begin his career as ‘The Phantom Thief’. The next day, he saw a poster for a new tournament in a week. The prize bey was amaterios aero assault, a legendary attack type Beyblade. It was also the counterpart to his Baldur.
He decided he must have that Beyblade. But the tournament had a very tough entry system. He decided he would battle the winning Blader. If he won, he would take the Beyblade. The days passed by slowly. The next few days he went through waiting for the weekend.
Finally, the weekend came. He joined the audience without his mask, knowing nobody would know him without it, and watched the battles. The winner was named Fubuki Sumie. Naito quickly slipped his mask on and decided to be daring. He climbed up to the roof and watched Fubuki leave. Then he tossed a paper airplane at Fubuki that nailed him in the head.
Naito hid quickly and watched Fubuki read the note. It was telling him to return at 9:00 PM with amaterios. Naito returned home and waited until 8:30 and then, donning his mask and perched himself in the highest branches of a tree. Then he waited for Fubuki to appear.
Fubuki appeared at 9:03. He looked around for the mysterious person calling themselves the Count Night. “Come out, Count Night! It’s almost my bedtime!” Naito quickly (yet silently) climbed down the tree and jumped out. “Fubuki! I challenge you to a battle!”
Fubuki looked towards him. “Finally! Three! Two! One! Let it... Rip!” Baldur took the center as amaterios began to move aggressively. “Baldur! Moonlight Veil!” Baldur glowed and then suddenly vanished. Amaterios zoomed into the center, trying to attack, but Baldur wasn’t there. “What’s going on? Are you cheating?” Fubuki asked.
Naito grinned. “If I were cheating, I would’ve won by now. Baldur! Midnight Slash!” Baldur reappeared in a flash of light and quickly struck amaterios, flinging it out of the stadium. Naito jumped up and caught amaterios. “I won, so thanks for the Beyblade!” He left quickly. As soon as he got home he returned to his room. He set the Beyblade down on his desk and went to bed.
