The game is in no way impossible. Once you get used to the "Claw Grip" for your PSP, it's just a matter of learning to read a monster's movements (Like for some enemies, the speed in which they turn is a good indicator of what their next move will be). Every single person I know who gave up on this game did so because they said it was too difficult. That's my only dislike of this game, the drastic difficulty curve. Once you beat your first large monster (Yian Kut-Ku), you soon learn the flow of the game (I soloed up untill black gravios also). The whole control scheme thing isn't exactly capcom's fault, I don't see any good control scheme being possible due to the PSP's lack of second analogue stick.
Also, just got my first 2 pieces of yama tsukami armor.

You're missing the point. If you want a plot, do not buy any of the games in this series.
Most people play the game for the sense of achievement after defeating a difficult foe solo or the sense of comradery gained by hunting with friends.
