LONDON RISING
WIP

London, UK - 25 April 2015

The sun rises over London after a cold winter. As things get warmer, the beyspirit of London beybladers begin to rise from hibernation. It has been a while since London last heard clashing metal and it is time for it to return once more.

It's time to rise from the ashes once again.

2015
LONDON
BEYBLADE IS BACK
For good this time

Time:
The tournament itself will start at 2:00pm, so as a guide, aim to arrive for 1:30am. The Tube and public transport services are not very reliable, so plan your journey well in advance.

Location:
Regent's Park. We shall be at the Bandstand like ye olden days.

Directions:
Here is a map of Regent's Park. Head to the area marked Bandstand. We suggest taking the London Underground or Bus to Baker Street.

Tournament Format:
Standard MFB Format. We will be doing Round Robin, seeing as we have a small participant pool. But hey, more battles, more fun! Block Round Robin once we get over 12 participants, so be ready for either!

Price:
As usual, all participants must pay a £3 fee. We accept cash only!
If you have a valid Blader Passport, entry is free. Blader Passports can be purchased on the day for £6 and last a whole year! Absolute bargain!

Prizes:
Sorry, no physical prizes this time, but credits and Face Boosters will be awarded!

Hosts and Judges:
This tournament is being hosted by Manicben, somewhat of a veteran and tournament host. I have chosen Ultra and UNKNOWN (depending on numbers) to be judges this time round, due to their support and experience. If you have any queries, either here or on the day, feel free to PM Manicben or talk to one of us on the day, we would be happy to help!

Important Advice:
Despite being around friends and rivals, please remember we are in a public park. Bad behaviour and swearing will not be tolerated and will result in a ban from future events. Please keep your personal belongings with you or in a safe place while at the bandstand. If you see any personal items left around with no apparent owner, please hand it in to a judge, so we can return it to its rightful owner. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

Remember to turn up on time. If you arrive later than 2:10pm, your place will be forfeit and you will not be able to participate.

Message from the Hosts:
It's been a while since the last tournament and activity sure is dying down, but with the announcement of Beyblade Burst I can see a potential surge in interest once it makes its way over to the west. Stay tuned, Beydays is still a possibility!

Good luck to everyone
this is gonna be fun
Good luck to everybody tomorrow! I am happy to see London have another tournament!
I now have my stadium on me, but no floor mat this time... I May not make it at 1:30pm like I stated due to lunch with a friend, but I guarantee I will be there before the 2pm start time. As for the admin side, I didn't have a printer available so no fancy paperwork for judges and stuff. Classic pen and paper it is!
Guys Quick Announcement!

I will be Selling my Gold Dranzer S and Gold Driger S Today, both these beyblades are in mint condition I haven't used them once, but they are out of the packaging. If you would be interested let me know today at Regents Park Thank you
Guy's I'm having trouble with my car but I'm doing my best. I'm not too far from the park so as long as all goes well in the next 45 mins I'll be there.
I'm about to leave home, should be there in 30 mins.
Brought BB-10, filming stuff and a bunch of beyblade wares to sell Grin

Edit:

I'll be late. Got caught up with phone calls and the tube isn't being nice to me today.
Where is everyone? No one is here!
Good luck everyone xD
Hope it turns out okay... doesn't sound too great right now...
WOW! Today was Awesome!
Well, a disappointing turnout, but ThePokeblader came to save the day and went on to win the tournament!
Without any Zero-G parts!!!

1st - ThePokeBlader
2nd - LeeDraciel
3rd - Ultra

Indeed a decent day, despite personally arriving late, then LeeDraciel turns up an hour late (with valid reason) and I went ahead and secured a single win with 6 losses. The feels...

Anyway, for those wanting footage, I'll put up a dropbox folder and just request the link (I'll send Lee, Avenger and ThePokeBlader the links for now). I'll create a video in beychannel format later this week or so.

Of course we continued the tradition of launching a fake beyblade into the lake (Guardian L-Drago S130 WB (WB was metallic painted to deceive people into thinking it was an MB), which we have footage of. Woohoo!

I'm working on submitting the results as of this post. Shouldn't take too long.

Thanks everyone who joined us today to play spinning tops at the bandstand before we got kicked out... I'll ensure that doesn't happen again and we should have better equipment in future, i.e. floor mat, foam knee cushions and I plan to create a wall partition to help with the beyblade selection process, all of which will make things run smoothly and comfortably.

As for the next tournament, we plan to celebrate BeyDays if possible either on the weekend of the 16th or 30th of May. This is mainly due to MCM Comic-Con being on the weekend of the 23rd of May.
Things will be confirmed later, but for now, try to make space for a tournament during those times.

Recap: May Tournament on either Sat 16, Sun 17, Sat 30 or Sun 31.
ManicBen is there any other way I can gain the footage because I do not have dropbox sadly...

Mwahahaha! This is why you share the link and you can see the folder from your browser! Simples!

Uh sadly all the files I record in are in MTS format. I'd suggest converting to AVI, but I didn't have time for that. MTS is the raw HD format. After that its all up to editors to compress and do stuff.

The last video in the folder is the fake beyblade ritual. I'm gonna try and include that in beychannel (Kei will probably not endorse it), but if not, the uncut video should be on my channel.
I can see it now:

Manicben: Kei can everyone try and hold their tournaments near water to through a fake beyblade in it?
Kei: No.

Anyway this was great fun. I always enjoy it whether it's few people or many. Hopefully the new series will mean we get a new burst (pun intended) of players and the community can be great again.
Why were you expulsed from your location though ? Is it possible someone saw you/reported you for polluting the lake, in fact, hah ?

Some singing troupe had scheduled use of the Bandstand, so we had to leave and move to the grass for the last two matches of the finals.

We completed the ritual afterwards. Anyway, in terms of pollution, a few small beyblades will not make a difference, especially when there are a lot of paddleboats paddling around. As long as we don't accidentally hit a swan with a Cygnus beyblade, the ritual should not affect the lake in a bad way.

In future, I will see if I can get the Bandstand "officially" booked for us, but I think that means we have to organise events a week or so in advance. This can be difficult due to people dropping out at the last minute, risking the tournament not taking place. But we shall see.

I have just confirmed that small events held in any Royal Park has a minimum £100 fee, plus additional charges for non-for profit ticketed events.
So, I guess we will just have to keep an eye out for potential clashes and do as we have done before.

We could potentially find alternative places, since we all hate the concrete floor shredding our beyblade bottoms, hehe. Eee
I could in future years be able to rent out a room in my university which would be great, since we could tables, chairs to sit on, proper smooth floors that don't wreck our beys and so on. But that remains to be seen... Would be great if we could hold events indoors.
Manicben, what beyblade items are you selling and could list them and their prices?

What I'll do is create another London Selling thread in the marketplace. Blitz made the old one, but I plan to make another updated version which has all seller info and stuff in the OP, just to make life easier. So wait till then please.
@[Manicben] In the future announcing the event further in advance would also help allow us to advertise it through the BeyMap by sending out invites to everyone who has signed up, and post about it on our Facebook page.

Yeah don't worry. Kai-V has told me exactly the same. She managed to send out invites for us just in time, but in future events will be planned much further in advance. The only problem is trying to get more members to turn up, rather than not show at the last minute. But we know for sure that most of us will be able to make it and Blitz can make it if we let him know in advance, so we should be all good for future events.

Off topic, but I had no idea you could "tag" people in posts. Awesome, time for me to make use of it in future... Grin
Very nice to see people still playing. Smile
