Summer's End

London, UK - 24th September 2016

Well, most of us have returned from the holidays and school is starting up for most people. What a great time to host a tournament (since nothing happened while I was away lel) and once again I can guarantee prizes! Woohoo!
Since summer has ended and we are going into Autumn, please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. I can imagine it will be a bit chilly...

Summer's End
Prepare for the chilly winds...

2016
LONDON
I'M BACK!
Please check the weather forecast...

Time:
The tournament itself will start at 12:00pm, so as a guide, aim to arrive for 11:30am. The Tube and public transport services are not very reliable, so plan your journey well in advance.

Location:
Regent's Park. We shall be at the Bandstand as always, but in case of congestion, we may relocate to the smaller shelter on the way to the Ready Money Drinking Fountain. Please check this thread on the day for updates or like us on Facebook for any quick location updates.

Directions:
Here is a map of Regent's Park. Click on the tab labelled "Monuments, Fountains and Statues". Head to the area marked Bandstand or in some cases, head to the Ready Money Drinking Fountain. We suggest taking the London Underground or Bus to Baker Street.

Tournament Format:
Burst Format. We will be doing Round Robin, seeing as we have a small participant pool. But hey, more battles, more fun! Block Round Robin if we get over 12 participants, so be ready for either! And remember, no Hasbro Burst layers or drivers are allowed, not that anyone would have them yet. Grin
Please remember to read the rules!

Price:
Now, all participants must pay a £3 fee for the tournament. We accept cash only!
If you have a valid Blader Passport, entry is free! Blader Passports can be purchased on the day for £10 and last a whole year! Absolute bargain!

Prizes:
Prizes will be put on order and the usual Faces/Credits and even MBG special edition swag will be available to winners!

Hosts and Judges:
This tournament is being hosted by Manicben, WBO mentor and tournament host. I have chosen philo1114 and ~Mana~ (depending on numbers) to be judges this time round, due to their support and experience. If you have any queries, either here or on the day, feel free to PM Manicben or talk to one of us on the day, we would be happy to help!

Important Advice:
Despite being around friends and rivals, please remember we are in a public park. Bad behaviour and swearing will not be tolerated and will result in a ban from future events. Please keep your personal belongings with you or in a safe place while at the bandstand. If you see any personal items left around with no apparent owner, please hand it in to a judge, so we can return it to its rightful owner. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

Remember to turn up on time. If you arrive later than 12:10pm, your place will be forfeit and you will not be able to participate.

Message from the Hosts:
Stay tuned on the Revival Thread or the new WBO UK Facebook Page for more info and tournament dates!

Sorry for the double post guys, but since Basedsamuraij cancelled, we may have a hard time holding the tournament. If @[Jonnyyara] shows up, then we are all good! If not, then here's a plea.
Could anyone fill in please? Confirmed attendees, maybe bring a family member or friend? Of course not against their will!

It would be a real shame if we had to cancel the tournament when some bladers have already bought tickets to come to London from far away. So please, just in case, we need one more participant!

Thanks!

EDIT:

We now only have 6 participants! Crying I will try to convince a friend to join us, but please try and convince someone to come along! Grin
Please PM me or post here before 8am to confirm. If we don't get anyone after that, I'll post the announcement here for cancellation. So please be prompt!
And a triple post! Omg... Well I'm sorry mods...

But more importantly, we have managed to find someone to fill in! Bit pricey to get him here, but that means that the tournament will go ahead as planned!

See you all there!
You had me worrying there my dude! Looking forward to seeing you all Grin

Just to confirm, is this a standard or experimental?

Standard Burst. I wouldn't suddenly change format without telling everyone.

Next month will be Experimental Format
Use of Challonge made this tournament exceedingly quicker for some reason. Anywho, results!

1st: @[philo1114]
2nd: @[Manicben]
3rd: ~Mana~

Notable shoutout to @[Balance Blader] who managed to place at the bottom of the leaderboard, despite placing in each of the last four (?) tournaments. A huge upset, and he's currently in tears regarding it Wink

A fun day throughout, and we even got some young kids in the park involved with playing after we finished the tournament. They enjoyed it and were asking where they could get the tops, and even took some WBO business cards! Great to see some excitement from younger fans already!

Looking forward to Experimental Format next month! Grin
It was a very fun time indeed, and though I only won 2 games this time round I won a game with Ragnaruk Gravity Xtreme so in my mind it was successful.

Congrats to those who placed! Can't wait to see you all next month Joyful_3
Hopefully i did some good judging Tongue_out

Thanks for letting me win on my second WBO tournament, and I'll definitely aim on a grand slam next time (?)

Anyway, I know I shouldn't be asking this but should we seriously consider to ban Deathscyther on WBO tournaments just as how Takara Tomy does? It's obviously overpowered (or the placed players are overpowered to use it) , more and more deathscyther combos will show up in the upcoming tournaments. So i guess it's about time to discuss about it Tongue_out
That's not really our decision. We have to do what the community as a whole decides. The UK can't just decide it's banned in the UK tourneys. Also these discussions have already happened and I think it was concluded that just because everything else kinda pales in comparison doesn't mean it's overpowered. If we couldn't use it I don't know what else we could use for stamina (is Odin still banned?).

@[Thunder Dome] posted a good thread about it here: https://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-The-Cas...ament-Play

I just haven't really decided what I want to say about it yet, haha.

Well, we had to go easy on you and make you feel good about yourself. Totally not that we literally couldn't get over anything you threw at us... DJ 2002 - Disappointed ...

Why shouldn't you be asking about that ban? I think it's a solid point to make if I'm perfectly honest. I'd suggest giving your opinions in this thread, which already has some solid groundwork on the topic. Today's tournament only adds to this, as I don't think there was a single participant who didn't use Deathscyther or Dark Deathscyther at some point.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Brad. Damn it.

Actually just saying this because I won the tournament today with three Deathscyther combos, and think it might sounds a bit more like 'i know it's good but i think it's too good' rather than 'i lose to this crazy thing and we should ban it'.

I know there are threads out there but i'd love to encourage those who faced me and my Deathscyther today as I've only lose once against Ben, but the combo he used against me was Deathscyther as well. Which makes me think my words on suggesting to ban Deathscyther are the most convincing among the participants of today's tournament Smile
Well, I think pretty much anyone who is placing in a tournament knows how versatile and powerful Deathscyther is. But it's worth considering if the game would really look better without it, or if the issue is not really related to Deathscyther at all.

But that's for another thread ...

Thanks for going easy on me and gave me a warm welcome with my first gold face, hope you're enjoying your gold Valkyrie layer, and entertained me with a lovely 2-0 ahead to 2-3 lost against Ben XDD

I'll try and post my opinions on that thread when I have a clear mind, which i am too tired and lazy for that atm Tongue_out
Using my secret work... Here is the results sheet! Took only 5 mins to fill in the missing data @[Bey Brad]

Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing

@[Kai-V] @[Kei] @[~Mana~]
The results all look clean, thank you for being so prompt with them.

All thanks to the program, most of the sheet was filled in automatically. Takes 2 seconds to generate, then took me <5 mins to fill in random stuff like Winning Combos and tiebreakers, etc.

Well, that's everything done. Results, Winning Combos, Fees and even Reimbursement request.

Thanks to everyone for coming! Great seeing you all. Seems like our resident master blader has met his demise and been replaced by the HK Beast. Our UK committee member (London represent! xD ) also placed, in just his second ever tournament!

Now for those who realised... We defo did NOT rig the tournament or finals... I mean what were the odds that the finalists happened to be the judges... lel

Until next time gang! October will be the month for Experimental Format (potentially with a BST Format as well)

Actually I've no idea why the shortest guy is regarded as the Beast XDD
Actually this tournament has been processed for a while, with the most that we could do considering the cheating that occurred in this event. The finals were not processed, but the placers were moved up so that a Gold Face could be distributed, and the Credits remained as if the tournament had eight participants, since it was in that mentality that it was played.
