Hi, folks. This will be my first thread in a long while, so bear with me if there's any potential hiccups. That aside, I aim to incite some discussions with this thread, by proposing several combinations that could theoretically have a place in the competitive scene; SharkScale combos won't be mentioned here, because I feel we can collectively agree that SharkScale as a Blade will be meta (likely an A or S-Tier) when it drops. Now with introductions(?) out of the way, here's a list of hypothetical meta picks for Beyblade X. Starting with:
. ValkyrieBlastW 4-50UF - Attack-Type
For those who have seen the reveals regarding the weights of the Valkyrie Lock Chip, Blast Main Blade and Wheel Assist Blade, this combination's a no-brainer; ValkyrieBlastW 4-50UF's goal as an Attack Type is to specialize in "weight bullying," whilst using the reduced height from 4-50 and Under Flat to mitigate the innate height disadvantage that all CX Blades struggle with. Since SharkScale isn't released as of writing, 4-50 and Under Flat can be replaced with 7-60 and Low Rush to further increase ValkyrieBlast's overall weight.
From the footage I've seen of PegasusBlast so far, the Blast Main Blade has some significant sweet spots that can generate awe-inspiring recoil, so I'm confident this combo will decimate a lot of other Beys in the near future.
. WizardRod M-85UN - Defense-Type
Personally, I enjoy using WizardRod as a Defense-Type; this combo would aim to improve upon the Blade's innate defensive capabilities by utilizing the centralized weight distribution of M-85, while simultaneously using Under Needle to mitigate the Ratchet's height disadvantage against the average competitive combo. Not much else to say about it, although there's a good chance a stock SharkScale will counter it with ease.
. AeroPegasus Tr
This combo's a lot more experimental, mainly because I love gimmicky parts like Turbo. The goal for AeroPegasus Tr is to optimize Turbo's capabilities between its "Stamina Mode" and "Attack Mode"; effectively acting as a heavyweight, gimmicky Balance-Type. Only real weaknesses it'd have would be its poor overall stability and lack of Stamina during the endgame.
. PerseusVoltT 4-50H
Knowing how heavy Blast is, I'm confident that Volt will weigh more or less the same as it. However, Volt's shape makes it come across like a Balance Type akin to Inferno Ifrit, hence why I've decided upon this configuration. PerseusVoltT 4-50H would aim to be a pseudo Defense-Type with a hint of counterattacking capabilities. I chose Turn as the Assist Blade of choice after noticing that its Attack Mode could align with Volt's primary contact points. The 4-50 Ratchet is there to make PerseusVolt less top-heavy, and Hexa's... well, Hexa.
Depending on how good Merge is as a Bit, Hexa could be replaced with the former. And speaking of Merge...
. TyrannoBeat 7-80M
Having used Unite a lot back during the Burst generation, Merge's a strong candidate for a meta Defense-Type combination. I chose TyrannoBeat for this combo, as I personally view it as one of several ideal Blades for Defense combos; its heavy, and has strong counterattack potential. The 7-80 Ratchet is used to synergize with TyrannoBeat's ability to work with taller Ratchets, as well as increasing the Blade's overall weight. Furthermore, with 80-height Ratchets having more Burst Resistance than 60-height Ratchets, this works in tandem with the high Burst Resistance of Merge to create a Bey that's difficult to defeat via a Burst Finish.
. GhostCircle 4-50E
This last one won't realistically come off as a meta pick at first glance, and that's because GhostCircle 4-50E is specially built to theoretically counter CobaltDragoon Elevate combos. With the height decrease from 4-50 and Elevate, GhostCircle would have its somewhat smooth metal perimeter make contact with CobaltDragoon more often, and thus better resist the inevitable Spin Equalization that comes with dueling with such an infamous left-spinning Blade.
Alternatively, I could see this combo being a surprise pick for a Mobile Defense Bey in a deck; it'd use Elevate's movement patterns to dodge the opponent and have enough stability to resist toppling over and wasting all of its Stamina during the endgame. Of course, this combo's biggest weakness is how lightweight GhostCircle is; one perfectly-timed hit is enough to send it flying, which is why I felt having it be an evasive Bey would be more interesing.
And that's all the hypothetical combos I have for y'all, today. Out of all these ideas, I'm certain ValkyreBlastW will be the most successful, with how important weight is in the metagame. But I'm curious as to what you may think about the rest of these hypotheticals.
