Gundam Models

You should also use a hobby knife, or nail clippers, to see if you can remove the parts where the piece was attached to the sprue. You could also sand these bits down, if you prefer.

This will make the parts fit together much better, and definitely make your model look a lot better.

As Elmo said, panel lining is very easy to do and will improve your model's appearance dramatically; I'd recommend a fine, grey pen for white areas. Black is far too bold.

1/144 Kits, Faceless Hyaku and Over Flag

That's Hyaku Shiki... don't cut its name short! It pains me! Pinching_eyes I know I sound bossy... but hyaku shiki, simply doesn't work, cut down to just hyaku... what happened to its face btw? (although i shouldnt need to ask... I lost my Blitz's face as well! XD)
Is there like a site/forum I could checkout with guides/reviews on these things?

I just found an import store so getting them isn't a problem.
http://dalong.net/

Has really comprehensive photo reviews of pretty much every Gundam model you can think of, albeit in Korean.

Off the top of my head however, I can't think of many "guide" forums, sorry.

Elmo Wrote:maybe a pencil?

A mechanical pencil apparently works well too, but I've never tried it.

I could be wrong Grin

Correct.

Also, I love that Astraea kit Yugi. I'm still planning on getting that one Smile
In my next MOJ order, i have a few gundam models... and i really want to panel line it and i was wondering if gundam markers are recommended! if someone could give me a few tips for panel lining that would be great ^^'''
Cooooool; what models are you getting?

Gundam Markers are good for detailing; the fine tips which are < 1mm are good for panel lining. I recommend using grey for white areas, because they shouldn't be too prominent. You can use a rubber eraser to get rid of mistakes.

The thicker markers can be used to colour certain smaller parts as detail; however I wouldn't recommend colouring entire parts because the paint is simply too thick and unsuitable.
Getting these:

(i know theyre small and not good quality like the 1/100 MG)

Those are my 1st ever model kits and they will be my practice for EBM and FBM (or just to know if i like building these kits or not), im getting them friday or monday.
I really cant wait, if i do like building these gundams, next on the list are
EBM, FBM, AKATSUKI, UNICORN, SHIN MUSHA and EXIA MG.
goddamit they are so sexy.

Thanks for the tips, im getting like GM21 and GM20... these good right? i believe u can easily erase ur ''mistakes'' with a q-tip. and eraser... GM300????
which marker specifically do u suggest me?
Eraser, like a rubber eraser? Like any. :]

Yes, they're good panel liners. Perhaps get an even lighter colour, like a light grey? More subtle.

The HG 00 kits are a nice buy, it's cool you've bought all 5. ;]

The Seed/Destiny FGs are pretty poor IMO; very simple to build with little or no detail or articulation.

HG Exia R2 and 0 Gundam are good kits; 00 S2 kits are very good. Hi-Nu and RX-78 are also good kits.

Aren't you going overboard with practising? Haha.

I agree, Exia MG is awesomeeee. Can't wait to get it. What are FBM/EBM?
About the colors... il get the gm20 and 21... can u suggest me any other sets of colours of a number in particular...? (if u could give me a link on ebay that would be SO perfect).

Well ill go FG 1st and then HG then finally MG... thats why i bought the FG, and u gotta admit they are pretty cheap xD i wanna practice my panel lining/patience on them.

Man exia Mg is SO sexy... though i dont like the repair mode xDDDD
im very afraid of breaking parts... the mg kits costs quite a lot (which is why i have to PRACTICE A LOT)

FBM and EBM are Strike freedom 1/100 MG Full Burst mode and Destiny gundam 1/100 MG Extreme blast mode. i heard there was so kind of thing on the wing of the strike freedom that breaks very easily.... i wonder if they got extra parts for that that u can buy... UGH stressed T_T

FBM EBM AKATSUKI UNICORN SHINMUSHA AND EXIA... are so damn good looking. I'll only have to find a small place to display them xD
Hmm, concerning colours I'm not really too sure.

Perhaps this for your Seed/Destiny kits?

As long as you're just panel-lining and doing small details; you'll probably need an airbrush to make them look good.

Just follow the instructions carefully, they're usually very clear so there shouldn't be too much of a problem. Be careful with your models also; that way you minimise risk of breaking parts, obviously. ;]

You can order separate runners on hlj.com; this is usually quite expensive and time consuming and is often not really worth it.

I don't own either of those kits, but I have heard that the two contain a few fragile parts. Strike Freedom's wings have an odd problem, I believe. However, I must say they look extremely good and I will buy them in the future ...

Gold-plated models such as the Akatsuki are normally a nightmare to build and detail though.
I was wondering why do I need so many colors if the only thing i want to do is to line the panels.... 0_0 do i have to do the panel lining in yellow/blue/red also?!??! or which part of the model can u also paint or draw on with these markers.
Im really nervous about the EBM and FBM since these are so amazing looking and expensive 2, dont want to break a small piece and ruining the whole model and having to to buy another.xD
And doesnt an airbrush cost 100$? Cant I just trace the lines with the markers and leave it there?
ahhhh ill c with my FG and my HG 1st, then I'll c about the MG.
Hmm, well if you're only panel lining then it's fine; however S/D FGs look pretty bad without additional colouring.

Airbrushes are used to paint larger areas. :]
WOOOT yes, got enough money to finally finish the bloody set.

1/100 MG Gundam Ez-8
1/100 MG RGM-79[G]

And some others maybe
1/100 MG RX-78-4
1/100 MG RX-78-5
1/100 MG Shin Musha

Oh, I heard building Unicorn was a pain in the carp.
It's me again. Hope you like it! Tongue_out

Didn't think the trans-am looked like that. Maybe it's the lighting for me lol.

Probably. lol
I cannot imagine these kits having bootlegs.
That'd be bad..like really,really BAD.
I know nothing about these things but that purple one is awesome. <3
1st attempt of building gundam: 1/144 FG blue frame = FAIL
I spray painted it it was beautiful then screw the legs with the most mediocre and pathetic panel lining *if u can call what it was ''panel lining''. I had to throw it away, ahhh 300 yen wasted.
I need help with panel lining... if someone with msn and webcam could help me it would be great.
my gf is doing Blaze Zaku Phantom 1/144 FG and we spray canned it metallic gold it was beautiful (though i messed up pretty badly one part) and my gf is actually way better than me at panel lining (or is it because theres less details to be lniing!?!?!) anyways all in all, I need help panel lining and so do my gf.
I am actually SO glad i bought 10 FG for 3000 yen. Tons and tons of practice. Couldnt wish for better.
2nd attempt atm: Force impulse gundam FG. HELP.
What exactly is wrong with the panel lining?

Why did you throw them away? D:
