I'd choose Garchomp over Hydreigon,hby?
General Competitive Pokemon Topic
True, but Garchomp kills with that Earthquake.Hydregion is a slightly better choice
Garchomp is in OU, Hydreigon is in UU.
Garchomp is a better Physical Attacker, Hydreigon is a better Special Attacker.
Garchomp can be used as a Stealth Rocker, Hydreigon cannot.
Garchomp is a Ground type, Hydreigon is a Dark type.
Hardly comparable.

I've never actually seen someone put Stealth Rock on a Garchomp before. It seems to me (and it looks like a lot of other people too) like a wasted move on a Pokemon with so much offensive potential.
I can put the pros and cons of each though.
Garchomp
+Faster
+Hits Harder
+Can boost himself
-Physical (too many Will-o-Wisps flying around)
-Mega gets wrong Sand Ability
Hydreigon
+Special
+More Diverse
+Levitate
-Fairies
-Doesn't hit as hard
-Can't boost himself well (Work Up < Nasty Plot)
Charizard's Mega evolutions are pretty useful too, Y is the preferred one but X is just as good.

Hydreigon is way too frail to be setting up though, most run choice scarf or specs.
Every dragon type gets demolished by fairies anyway, so shouldn't really be a negative. Not talking about charizard x here.
Lets have a battle on Pokemon Showdown,Garchomp vs. Hydregion.I'll say when I'm ready!
Infernape is a great choice over Heatran,That's pretty obvious.

Heat ran out specials infernape, if I'm not mistaken. Also bar home would wreck hydregion, garchomp would go first and use earthquake or he could mega into dragon rage. Garchomp is a beast, this is a known fact, but hydregion has it's uses as well.
What about dragonite? Dragonite is like Garchomp except he can't mega evolve (which he REALLY NEEDS TO.) Plus, Dragonite also is immune to ground. His and Garchomp's base stats are nearly identical.
Is anybody going to the World Championships this year?

What when where is the Championship taking place? What is it?
Garchomp would destroy Dragoite with Dragon Rush before Dragonite can even use a flying/Water/Dragon move.It could be used as a subsitute for it if Charizard Hydreigon or Zekrom/Kyurem/Reshiram arent around. How do you guys think Giratina/Dialga/Palkia would fare against Garchomp?

If you could be using zekrom, then You would be playing ubers and they would all get wrecked. And I think that the ubers you listed would do decently against garchomp. You seem to have this misconception that garchomp is the best Pokemon out there, when he really isn't, if I'm not mistaken palkia in particular is not only special defensive, but is water type which means he can get stab on garchomp, albeit at a 1x multiplier. You also fail to understand that garchomp so defensive stats are pretty garbage and if you make a misplay and I don't know, use earthquake and the opponent has a choice scarf, get ready for a dead garchomp my friend.
I actuaaly hate Garchomp...
He has an ugly design and I would use Dragonite over him no matter what the stats.

They might as well be the same Pokemon, with such small stat differences you could ev train them to have almost the exact same stats. The reason garchomp is better in actual gameplay is most people only ev train two stats, and even though you could make them have the same stats, garchomp is faster and is only 4 points away from dragonites base atk, plus he can mega evolve boosting his stats. Dragonite is usable, for sure, but garchomp is just better, because he is faster and can hit just as hard as Dragonite. Also dragonites defense stat won't matter when you get hit with 4x stab dragon rage, even worse if you fight someone who knows how to use baton pass correctly, you could give him a swords dance as well and he wouldn't be hit until next turn, where he can outspeed everything mega evolve and sweep your team.
Edit dragon claw could be used as well. If you are scared of sylveon

Ha,youre the most knowledgeable Pokemon trainer ive seen in a long time...
What's your team?
What's your team?
Which one, I mainly play randoms but I am a fan of stage condition teams ie sun rain, sandstorm teams. But my favorite team is a team of only serene grace Pokemon with head but and astonish, makes for a good laugh when I flinch someone up to 6 times in a row.
But in most cases my team is
Tank sylveon with wish, sleep-talk, hyper beam and protect
Chandelure for sweeping special attack wise, and to get a burn on sash foretres, with hidden power grass will o wisp flame wheel and energy beam.
A haxorus for physical sweeping with swords dance dragon claw dragon rage and dragon tail
A tentacruel for special defense with protect toxic, toxic spikes, and scald
A blastoise with dragon tail hydro pump, rain dance, and rapid spin and he is my mega
And a Latias, for when chandelure dies, with calm mind, dragon claw, roost and psychic.
The team isn't meta, and it isn't meant to be it is useable and I get wins, but I just play for fun.

I know you said you just play for fun, but you run three water types. I'd advise you switch one of them out, with something like a Ferrothorm(Is that how you spell it?) and maybe switch out the Blastoise or Latias with a Rotom wash.
But it's up to you.

Actually I don't use rotom wash due to an influx of garchomp users at the Time of release. Wash is good, but he never works for me, and he doesn't know rapid spin. And I don't use ferrothorn because it just feels. . . Dirty. Besides the team that I edited it fom was a rain team that would use swift swim to overpower grass and electric types with insane speed, and then usinclawitzor to hydro pump anything that thought it could survive to oblivion. Like I said the team was never made to be meta, so I didn't mind the three water types
No water pledge?
If it's raining and you're using a pokemon with Dragon tail, you should spam dragon tail until you die. That way, your opponent's pokemon will already be hurt before the real battle begins!

That would be mean, but blastoise would have to survive, which he doesn't do very well, he is just there to make rocks stop happening and to punish infernape
Punish Infernape?Ha,he'd have to be fast or have aqua jet to do that
(Aug. 07, 2014 4:26 AM)King K.Streak Wrote: Punish Infernape?Ha,he'd have to be fast or have aqua jet to do that
Actually, most people expect a aqua jet so they switch out, and the switched poke gets wrecked, and then I dragon tail until I get the right thing. Alternatively with rain up and mega evolved he is quite strong. I have indeed KOed multiple infernape and blaziken (non mega) with snapper.

You cannot just 'spam' dragon tail repeatedly. Blastoise would probably be dead on the second or third hit, because it always goes last unless you predit their switches in a poor matchup.
Pyro-Shotty:
You should actually stick Draco Meteor on Latias since its Sp.Atk stat is greater, and reaplce Psychic with Psyshock if you want better physical move (since it hits the Physical defense side) + you've got Calm Mind to boost it.
Toxicroak with Dry Skin is a nice addition to a rain team actually, since its ability heals HP every turn.

I have already stated that I can build decent teams, and know the better choices, but my main team is strictly for fun. It really isn't that hard to make a meta team anymore, especially since smog on literally tells you what to put on each poke. For that reason, and how boring it is to see the exact same teams over and over, I play randoms.(Aug. 07, 2014 3:59 AM)King K.Streak Wrote: If it's raining and you're using a pokemon with Dragon tail, you should spam dragon tail until you die. That way, your opponent's pokemon will already be hurt before the real battle begins!

I completely agree with you. I think you should be able to battle with your favorite Pokemon as long as they are not über legends. Sure, you will lose eventually, but that's all part of battling. I hate it when smogon tells people what Pokemon is good. I also hate it when they say "this Pokemon is useless and has no competitive use" every Pokemon can be useful in some way. I feel like some people think that battling is just a bunch of numbers...
I may start working on a competitive Pokemon team. (In-game). Any suggestions? What should I begin doing first? Getting rare candy's? lol
