Fundraising Ideas

So after Beyblade War Room and Spinoff, plus with the increasing popularity of the site, the WBO is starting to take a serious toll on my finances. You guys have been absolutely great about donating -- seriously, we have one of the best communities anywhere -- but it's still not quite doing the job, and I would still prefer to not put ads on the site, so we've been bouncing around some fundraising ideas.

The best idea I've had IMO is a WBO DVD released bi-annually or so with all of the videos released on BeyChannel within that time period, along with exclusive content and cut footage. Plus, it would all be in the original 720p rather than the stripped-down quality of the Youtube versions. Something like this would run about $20 and would make us a decent amount of money while still offering something really cool.

I know you've all been impressed by the Custom Face designs that theflightyellz has been pumping out, so he and I have been talking about some stuff as well. Some cool stuff we've considered are themed sticker packs (mostly Faces, but it's possible we could do sticker packs for Beyblade parts as well, though that would be a bit more complicated) and a Beyblade 2010 Calendar with stylized Beyblade photography and artwork.

So, those are the ideas we have right now. Is there anything you'd like to see us doing? What do you think of these ideas? Let us know!
A good set of ideas Brad. If the videos became more frequent then I could see the DVD being a hit. The stickers are pretty good. I could pitch in and get WBO t-shirts printed my side, I know somebody that does printing. Will be able to get prices together earlly next week if your interested. I will dwell on some other ideas.

To make the t-shirt idea more fundable, the logo would have to put cut down to minimal colour. There is another method of printing that can be used where the Pegasis wheel will look what it looks like on the site. Would be able to add a username onto the back for an additional price.

Honestly I'm not that interested in doing t-shirts. While it's a neat novelty I can't see anyone actually wanting to wear a Beyblade t-shirt. But this may be my fashion interest talking.

Now that I've got all my MFB and my camera, videos will definitely be more frequent now.
I did really like azuma`s idea of a WBO beyblade shop.

Hmmmm.....why dont we sell raffle tickets (digital ofcourse) and have different Beyblade lots as prizes?
Possibly customized stuff -> http://www.gaiaonline.com/store/custommerchandise/
Or just merchindice like WBO t-shirts or hats. WBo carrying cases, clothes, blankets, posters.---> http://www.gaiastore.com/servlet/the-wha...Categories
Maybe make another face for donating $20?
I really like the idea of the custom sticker packs, would defenitly get my hands on some of those. Along with the WBO shop Azuma was talking about I think this would be a good idea, not sure if it would be very profitable, but if it could work I'd like to see it happen.
Like Pepe said maybe another face for donating $20+ would be a good idea.
Wow, never thought the sticker packs would be a popular idea Grin
Glad that the WBO blade store is prominent though, need to find somewhere other than theintoy to buy from, their prices are killing me at the moment.
Yeah, sticker packs would be pretty awesome, maybe it could also include an offical WBO face sticker (that I idea I proposed in theflightyellz thread)?
I know everyone wants a WBO shop, but we wouldn't be able to sell for cheaper than you can get from MOJ, and the logistics involved are pretty insane.
I like the calendar, DVD and sticker pack idea. Maybe a combo pack would be cool too!
And of course, I would rather buy beys from WBO for a ridiculous price than MOJ. At least 100% of profit would go to WBO. Nothing against Azuma, of course, he's awesome Grin
Also, maybe selling tournament DVD's would be insane too, instead of just vids from Beyblade Channel.
I think a "Men of the WBO" calendar would go over rather well.
I reckon the Calendar and the Dvd's would be great, I would defianatly buy the Calendar, and Maybe a different face for dontating $20 and then another one for $40 ?

Especially with our abundance of female members.

but seriously, I really do like the ideas you have presented Brad.

The cynic in me tells me that a larger variety of faces isn't going to make more people donate; I could most definitely be proven wrong though.

I'm liking the sticker packs, which is definitely a creative twist on things. On that note, I've seen a lot of neat customisations as well, so perhaps a painting/customising service?

As mentioned above, I would actually prefer to buy from an official WBO shop, but if it's not a viable option then so be it.
I'd be willing to buy alot of the thing's you said lol, so i think you had some great idea's Smile

I think at $10, it provides a small incentive to donate. I don't think anyone wants to pay $40 for a coloured hexagon, though.
Yeah true, maybe some other features ?

Any excuse is a good one to see G without a shirt!

Oh yeah.......
XD
Jokes aside, maybe some rendered pics of Beybattles, or you could do a Face Contest where people submit original Beyblade art, and use that, along with the stuff from the Beyblade Photography contest.

Dang smileys work like carp...

So pretty much a one man calender XD

I would be down on those sticker packs.
Anubis could do custom work perhaps. Depending on his take on it, of course. I only say his name because admittedly, he's probably the best at this sort of thing.

I'd be willing to organize a raffle at my expense.

If I can figure out how to use a sewing machine, I'll make Ginga headbands to sell.

Charity tournaments would be interesting. Admission with a prize, perhaps?

Face jewelry! Grin
Just to clarify why a Beystore is a completely unfeasible idea:

1. We do not have contact with a wholesaler. So we would have to pay retail price from Japan (good luck getting stock right now) plus fees, plus shipping to us, and then shipping to you. The prices would be astronomical and none of you would pay it, despite what you might think.

2. We do not have a business license or any business qualifications. Running a webshop is different from selling stuff in a forum topic. We also do not have the capital to start this nor can I afford to lose.

3. Hasbro launches MFB next year. Then what? We're stuck with a bunch of dead stock.
We could try asking Hasbro to hire you.

hey thanks that never occurred to me
