Fitness Discussion Thread

Alright, so seeing as the old general fitness thread has been unused for a couple of years now, I’ve received permission to make a new fitness thread (if this is wrong I apologize and ask that the threads be merged). You can give or ask for fitness advice, talk about your fitness routine and take part in other fitness related discussions.

-ps I’ve really been wanting to talk about fitness so please join in lol. I’m sure people have something they would like to contribute as they stay fit during these anxious times.

I don't work out. It puts too much strain on my body. I actually pulled a muscle in my left arm when I tried to lift a dumbel once.

You should still work out. Everyone should. But just don't put to much strain on yourself. Like trying to go for a 300 pond dumbbell is dumb.

I do get exercise, and it was a 15kg dumbbell.

Thats cool, but you can still start slow. Starting out with 33 pounds is alot.

Yeah, and on top of that, I don't really have much upper arm strength. I do have strong shoulders though.

Everyone starts somewhere. When I first started working out both my muscle strength and cardio were straight up horrible. I couldn’t run for more than a minute without getting tired and as for muscle, I won’t even explain it lol.

What kind of workout were you doing?

I don't have much muscle or even excess body fat. I'm about 130cm tall and weigh about 54kg, and I've maintained that weight for about 4 years. But when I run, I RUN. If I have the energy and am determined, I can run pretty fast.

My Cardio is disgusting. Its further held back by my asthma.

That’s pretty good. Do you eat much or not quite?

Ahh that’s unfortunate but at least you still find a way to stay fit.

I have some excess body fat that I'm trimming down myself but its not much. Hopefully I can get it gone for good sometime next year.

I'll tell you the short version-I love food. I eat not a lot, and not too little. I've been told that my metabolism's the reason I don't seem to put on weight much. But then you have my 13-year-old brother, who's younger than me, but he is taller, heavier, and has actual bicep muscles.

That’s good, make sure to also keep tabs on dieting. Dieting is always more important than even the workout itself.

Yeah, dieting itself can do most of the job.

Ahh fast metabolism, yeah that’s a real problem and I know some people with similar issues. Maybe instead of trying to bulk on calories try taking more protein in.

You mean more protein? Like meats and stuff? Ok.

Yeah meat, eggs or even protein supplements. Out of those three I would say the safest are eggs, especially raw eggs.

On an unrelated note, eggs are good. I used to be allergic to egg yolk though.

Ok.
Been going to the gym actively for 4 years. Last year I visited the gym 303 times according to our top visits board.

Covid has made it tough but I'm getting back into it and working on my diet. Planning on doing the spartan race again.

I'm trying to get back down to 12% body fat but it's tough after quarantine.
Lately I’ve just been doing upper body home workouts with a bit of lower back mixed with either calisthenics or regular training. I was doing cardio every other day till last week due to the varying weather of Canada. As for flexibility, I just kind of sleep on it but I’m willing to get back in.

That’s some pretty awesome consistency. What is your bf percentage now? And do you really want to get as low as 12%, wouldn’t 14% be better? I guess everyone has their preference for their looks but 14 would have a bit of a better mass to it.

I'm a big dude and my body stores fat mostly in my lower stomach and obliques. So my abs dont really start to show until I get that low. (Im 6 ft and 215 lbs) I was 18% last time I checked. But I'd still be proud to hang out around 14%. I just like to shoot for the stars and see how far I can go lol

Ultimately I'd rather just be in the best shape I can be than any body fat goal, but its motivating diet wise to have one. And considering how much I love mac n cheese LOL

Check out Remington James on YouTube btw. Hes got some good recipes for healthy food that tastes good.

Ahh I see that definitely makes sense. Will definitely take a look.
I need to make some exercises to help me to grow more and make my spine straighter
