IX is the second best Final Fantasy besides III.

FFX...you are missing one good final fantasy...the three best among them would be VII, X and IX..however i never played XIII since i dont own PS3..XD

It seems I'll have to buy into the shallow hype machine again and get XIII-2...

Why, you may ask? Because Liam O'brien voices Caius, which seems to be something of an antagonist, and a mildly badass one at that, and I'm quite the sucker for his awesome voice.

C'mon, the game can't be that bad, right? They admitted XIII had a bunch of really bad flaws and I'm sure they corrected them, so it's okay to buy it, right?

...Right?
Buying a sketchy sequel to a reportedly bad game for a voice actor seems a bit silly, to me, but go for it if it's what you want, haha!
I confirm. It's not just silly, it's totally stupid...

But I'm a total sucker for cool voice actors. I seriously already bought a bunch of games because Jamieson Price voiced someone in it... I have a problem...

Maybe I'll just rent it. Yeah, that's less idiotic
I've completed the demo, and honestly, I already think it's gonna be one of my top 5 games. Just so you guys know, you will get to play as Lightning, Sahz, Snow, and Hope will be reappearing and I'm pretty sure you can play as them too. They added a whole bunch of new features that make the game more RPG-like and less linear, and you can do side quests too.
I was thinking about getting the 1st game in the series for the nes at a store I know of, is $15 over priced

Instead, they make Serah the protag and bring in random generic dude Noel as well as a moogle (Yes, because, if there's one thing I thought FF XIII really needed, it's an annoying, not really cute moogle) Lightning is in there, but she's not the focus, and that's a pretty bad idea.

I don't know. I might check it out, but it seems weak.

Truth.

I personally think Final Fantasy has gone down hill since X-2. XI is a joke and XII is average. I personally think i should just keep playing Vesparia and not look at Square Soft. (or whatever these youngin's call it now)
I went to blockbuster a few months ago with my friend and it turns out he knew the store clerk, so I asked the guy to give me his honest opinion on whether or not I should get FFXIII, and he said 'no, it's an absolute pile of...'.

So yeah, I still haven't played FFXIII. IX is by far my favourite out of the entire series.
I really would call FF XIII a total pile of fecal matter, to be honest. I'm the first guy to start complaining if something annoys me and, while the game has a ton of flaws, it also has quite a few good points.

True, the gameplay kinda sucks, the antagonists fail to impress (Like, A LOT) and the music, while gorgeous at first, eventually really gets on your nerve, but the characters are usually a lot of fun, the voice acting is really good and the story is decent.

I say it's a good rent.
I think the reason FFXIII is ripped on a lot is because of the final fantasy name, it means everyone is gonna compare it to the other FF Games. If you look at it that way, it may suck, but if you look at it as a stand alone game it's probably better than 90% of games out there. One thing that annoys me though is how they create full console sequels to the games that aren't exactly the most popular in the series, first FFX-2 and now this.

I'd rather they create an entirely new FF or, if they absolutely had to make a sequel, give the fans what they've been begging for for so long, a sequel to FFIX!

I mean, VII.
Hearing all the criticism on Final Fantasy XIII, I have no idea why Square Enix does not understand that all people want is Versus, and they might as well just make a single movie out of it instead of apparently spending so much time on the game.
I recently got FFIV the other day, (DS Ver.) as I had lost mine previously, and had never been able to finish it. <3 I love this game. It truly is a Masterpiece.
I could never drive myself to finish FFIV DS, despite finishing the GBA port a couple of times when it came out. It's odd, because I find the graphic style charming... there is just something unpleasant about it that I cannot pin.
Maybe, it's just too different from other classics? Hah, I don't know. I've thought about playing IV: TAY but I can't drive myself to buy it, honestly.
It's pretty much identical in story and function, actually, which is what makes it so strange.
I've heard that it's both good and bad from different sources. I'm sure one of these days I'll break down and buy it, just to see what Square Enix cooked up this time.
The problem with remakes and reskins of games is that the diehard sprite fanboys will cry foul as if you've killed their dog. Pretentiousness tends to run high in Final Fantasy fan communities...
Final Fantasy XIII-2 HUGE step forward for Square. First I want to recap the carp before it.

X-2: When everything started to go down hill. So Square releases a sequal to X. Everyone was excited until we say the characters. CHARLIE'S ANGELS YUNA WHAT THE HELL. Then you have to play through the whole game and get 100% to see the ending you wanted to see in the first place.

XI: An MMORPG that was okay but not what people wanted to see after X-2

XII: Far too pointless. Battle system stunk. I wanted to strangle all the characters.

XIII: Bad Battle System. Super linear. Music was annoying. Lightning was annoying. The supporting cast was annoying.

13-2 seemed to replace alot of problems. Its less linear. Noel is very interesting (Noel is basically Trunks) Gameplay is okay. Music is nice. Overall I think Square is headed in the right direction.
Meh... FF XIII-2 was just okay. I rented it, being the cheap selfish carp that I am, but it was enough. Serah is decent, Noel is as bland as wood, that fracking Moogle is the most annoying shat since Jar Jar Binks, but what really makes the game enjoyable (More so than most previous FF games, anyway) is Caius Ballad.

NO, it's not just because he's voiced by Liam O'brien and that I think Liam O'brien kicks butts, I honestly think Caius is up there along awesome FF vilains like Sephiroth and... uhh... well, that's basically it, there weren't many good antagonists from there (Don't say Seymour, for the love of god... you are a sad human being if you think he was cool...) He has a different kind of motivation from the usual 'I want power and money because I'm just evil and greedy' kind of bad guy. He wants to save Yeul and doesn't care if the world needs to be plunged into eternal darkness if it means she can actually live. In a way, that's kinda tragic and it's executed really well. Caius didn't need any villain laugh or gleefully evil personality to be interesting and THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Good villains have layers, people, like onions!

The gameplay is still pretty bad, though, and kinda ruined the game, for me. You know, as much as I hated Final Fantasy X, the gameplay in that was excellent some of the best I've seen in any RPG. Why didn't they just re-use that in every other game? It was actually good!
Ah, Final Fantasy. My favorite game will always be FFVII, not just because of Cloud, but also because of Sephiroth xD.
Though I do like Dissidia also. Especially Duodecim. Gabranth has become a recent favorite. FFIV for the DS comes a close 2nd, just because of Cecil being voiced by Yuri Lowenthal (I have an obsession of buying games that has Yuri's voice in it. Something's wrong with me xD), but also for the classic gameplay.

X was where it went bad, not X-2. It was a movie with interactive chapter screens, not a game.

Also, a step forward after four or five steps back is not an accomplishment.

It's simple, really: Square is notorious for not listening to its foreign consumer base whatsoever, and their primary design philosophy often tends to revolve around "new and colorful" rather than "old and reliable" which, unfortunately, doesn't work out so well for JRPGs. X did have enjoyable combat - pretty much the most fluid JRPG combat system I've ever seen without too much garbage cluttering it up.

I also enjoyed XIII, for what it was, but XIII was only to be enjoyed by those who actually enjoyed the MMORPG - which I did, and one cannot at all lump the MMORPG in with the other games, because it is an entity of its own machination - even less of a "series game" than the other completely non-series-games that comprise the Final Fantasy multiverse.

Its roots in JRPGs and story, which were the only redeeming factors, had long been killed off. The stories had become J-Dramas with insipid characters and colorful shinies abound, while the combat slowly drifted into the void of "too many ideas trying to happen at once".

I would almost venture as far as to say that Final Fantasy is bordering on irrelevant, even with their new minor success in making a not-entirely-garbage-game. Long gone are the days where I was excited, or even remotely interested, in a game bearing the Final Fantasy name.

Kingdom Hearts was the nail in the coffin - and they put it there themselves. There wasn't room enough in this town for the two of them, despite the two series supposedly being two different genres.
Is it true Final Fantasy VII Remake does existing?i saw some news on it when googling...XD
idk..i like Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core the most so far..i like the role of Zack where Cloud is very dumb in the game...
just finished the game with easy mode..lol...this game is so hard to levelling since it does not count in experience as other Final Fantasy did..XD
You just can not beat VII, VIII and IX. All amazing games with very unique atmospheres yet you could tell they were all from the same series. I'm getting nostalgic at how amazing those games were. The soundtracks were incredible! I see VIII as the underrated one and VII as the overrated one, IX might be my personal favourite but they're all outstanding.

I enjoyed X, but felt X-2 is where it went downhill. XII was aight. Haven't played XIII or XIII-2 but they just don't look or feel like FF.
