Chapter 5: Journeying to Find Shu
*Valt had shown interest in training in Bey Spirit, so Rantaro decided to train Valt in Bey Spirit for one week to prepare against Shu and any other foes he was with. It was the same day Valt had met Rantaro, and Krystal decided to leave for now and come back everyday to see how Valt was doing*
Rantaro: “All right then, Valt! Let’s get started! For our first lesson, you will learn how to harness Bey Spirit. It require a specific breathing of keeping the most air in your lungs as you can at almost all times when you use Bey Spirit. Once you learn it and use it enough, it’ll become second nature to you. Watch closely at my breathing and try to replicate it.”
*Rantaro started doing the breathing technique, keeping as much air in his lungs as possible while breathing, and Bey Spirit energy started to spark out of Rantaro’s arms*
Valt: “Doesn’t look too hard. Let me give it a try!”
*Valt attempted to do the breathing correctly, but after a few seconds, nothing was happening*
Rantaro: “Your breathing is too fast. Try breathing a bit slower and see if you see even the smallest amount.”
*Valt tried again, but this time he still couldn’t get a reaction after a few seconds*
Rantaro: “You’re letting out too much air. You’re going to need to keep in as much air as possible and stay at that amount as new air comes in and old air comes out.”
*For the rest of that day, Valt practiced his breathing, and even got some hiccups on one attempt, to which they had to take a break to wait for them to go away. Valt was still going at it even after they had dinner*
Valt (Thinking): I’ve gotta give it one more go. I have to do this to take down Shu.
*As Valt was thinking that, he steadied his breathing, keeping as much air in as possible, and Bey Spirit started to flow from his hands. It stuck a nearby tree and left a burn mark on the side, akin to a mark a fire would leave behind*
Rantaro: “You got it! Keep that kind of breathing up, and you’ll be strong enough to defeat Shu in no time!”
*The next day, Rantaro taught Valt how to control the Bey Spirit he could now generate, and Rantaro decided to keep the training area the area by the river*
Rantaro: “The key to controlling your Bey Spirit is your thoughts. You want to think about what part of the body you want the Bey Spirit to flow through. Like this.”
*Rantaro thought about his Bey Spirit flowing to his finger, and as soon as he did, the Bey Spirit flowed to his finger, and he zapped the ground*
Rantaro: “Make sure to clear your mind as well so you can focus on the thoughts you need to for this, by the way.”
*Valt attempted to clear his mind and think about where he wanted the Bey Spirit to go. It ended up not working and the force of the Bey Spirit shot him into the ground*
Rantaro: “You seemed a bit stressed. Try to keep calm, so you can concentrate and make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
*Valt kept trying, each time a reason why he hadn’t been able to. It took a few hours, but one on attempt at that point, Valt thought about the Bey Spirit going through his right index finger, and the Bey Spirit started to flow through his right index finger, and Valt struck the ground*
Rantaro: “That looked very controlled. Good job, Valt!”
*Valt continued to train throughout the week, taking several hours to properly learn each skill needed to properly use Bey Spirit. He learned things such as how to send Bey Spirit through his Beyblade, as well as how to do the technique Rantaro had done several days earlier, and how to send Bey Spirit through hard objects. Valt struggled with sending a Bey Spirit through hard objects, and wasn’t able to do it well at all. Six days after Valt had started Bey Spirit training, it was his final day of training. Today, he was going to be doing a Bey Spirit match against Rantaro*
Rantaro: “Today, Valt, you will fight me in a Bey Spirit battle. What matters most is that you use what you’ve learned this week to try and defeat me. I will not be holding back.”
Valt: “I understand. I’m ready.”
*The two pulled out their launchers and readied their beys*
Both: “Three, two, one, shoot!”
*The two launched their beys. Riding Ragnaruk took the ground, and held it*
Valt: “Go for it Valkyrie!”
*Victory Valkyrie slammed into Rising Ragnaruk. Ragnaruk held its ground and Valkyrie was thrown from the impact*
Valt: “Keep going for it Valkyrie!”
*Valkyrie kept slamming in Ragnaruk, Ragnaruk not budging*
Valt: “Valkyrie! Use your Bey Spirit Overdrive!”
*Victory Valkyrie had Bey Spirit flowing through it, and Valkyrie went in for the attack. Rising Ragnaruk tilted slightly, and Valkyrie made impact with Ragnaruk. Valkyrie burst on impact*
Valt: “Wait a minute. How could you possibly have won when I went in for the attack?”
*Valt picked up Victory Valkyrie*
Rantaro: “Ragnaruk tilted slightly, which allowed me to make contact with a Bey’s spot of weakness: It’s disc. I sent in Bey Spirit through it and Valkyrie burst.”
Valt: “So am I ready to take down Shu?”
Rantaro: “Not entirely, but we have used up enough time. This morning I heard of a zombified looking creature roaming around a town called Ivanten. We need to go check it out.”
Valt: “Ok then. Can we get an ally that I think could help us? They have a Bey too and even though they can’t use Bey Spirit, I think he’ll be helpful.”
Rantaro: “I guess. We got to go quick though.”
*Valt agreed, and once Valt paid a proper goodbye to Krystal, they set out to Lost Road to get Ken. When they got there, Ken agreed to help out Valt and Rantaro, and they set out to go to Ivanten by carriage horse*
Valt: “Thanks for the ride, Ken.”
Ken: “No problem. I’m just glad my friends agreed to let me borrow it, or otherwise we’d be making this journey on foot.”
Valt: “By the way, Rantaro, how long should the ride be?”
Rantaro: “By carriage, I would say a few hours. By foot it would have taken us half a day to get there.”
Ken: “I knew it was a good idea to use the carriage.”
‘A couple hours later’
Ken: “Looks like we’re coming across a tunnel.”
Rantaro: “That means we’re almost there. A few minutes after we come out fo the tunnel, you should be able to see the town in the distance.”
*As they were entering the tunnel, one of the horses started to act up*
Ken: “Down, boy, down! It’s just a bit of darkness!”
Rantaro: “Ken, I don’t think the horse has any issues with the darkness. I don’t know how, but we might be being attacked by a foe sent from Shu. Get in the carriage, Ken!”
*Ken jumped into the carriage. The horse started jumping around more and more. Rantaro noticed the underside of the horse was wide open, and blood was pouring out onto the dirt road ground*
Rantaro: “I think the enemy’s inside the horse! You two get down!”
*Ranatro used his Bey Spirit and made it go inside the horse. A couple seconds later, a man opened the back up of the horse and jumped out. The horse laid in the ground, dead, and in a pool of blood. The man launched a Beyblade, and it started to attack the brick arching of the tunnel. The walls began to shake and after several big hits, the walls began to crumble*
Rantaro: “Get out of the carriage! The tunnel’s falling apart!”
*The three jumped out behind the carriage, and many the tunnel bricks fell onto the ground, killing the other horse and destroying the carriage. The tunnel was still there, but many of the bricks had fallen and broke*
Rantaro: “We have to kill whoever is in that tunnel. Valt, how’s my chance for me to tell you what’s been holding your Bey Sprit powers back.”
Valt: “What is it?”
Rantaro: “You’ve been wasting a lot of the energy, and it’s been going into other areas of your body. Your lesson today is to defeat whoever is in that tunnel without Valkyrie taking a single click.”
Valt: “But that can’t be possible! If I’m trying to defeat an enemy, it’s going to take at least a couple click.”
Rantaro: “If you’re using all of your Bey Spirit towards Valkyrie, you can prevent it from taking any clicks. Ken, stay out here, and Valt and I will go check out what’s in the tunnel.”
*Ken nodded in agreement, and Valt and Rantaro went into the broken tunnel. The tunnel had turned darker than before, as some broken bricks blocked the light coming from the exit. The two heard footsteps as they walked deeper into the tunnel. Eventually, the man came into sight and launched his Bey. The Bey landed on top of a broken brick and tilted its layer down towards the brick, flinging sharp tiny pieces of brick towards the two*
Rantaro: “Valt! Get Valkyrie out and launch!”
*Valt got his launcher out quickly, and the two launcher their beys. Rising Ragnaruk deflected the attacks and Victory Valkyrie slammed Ragnaruk towards the Bey, still on the broken brick. The Beyblade started wobbling, and pushed Ragnaruk off the brick as soon as it came down towards the Bey*
Rantaro: “His face! It’s Killer Gabe! Which means this Beyblade is Gigant Gaia!”
*Gaia continued its attacks and slowly backed Valt and Rantaro into a corner*
Rantaro: “Valt! Now’s your time! Use what you’ve learned to take down Gabe!”
*Vallt nodded in agreement, and launched Victory Valkyrie. Gabe as well as again went into hiding, and Valt was lost on where Gabe went*
Rantaro (Whispering): “Valt, I see a shadow up ahead. He’s closed off the place he’s hidden into. You’ll have to try and send some Bey Spirit through the wall he’s made.”
Valt: “Why can’t you do it? I’m not sure I’ll be able to do something of that difficulty.”
Rantaro: “Because, Valt, it was a part of your training. I wouldn’t have trained you in a Bey Spirit if I hadn’t seen any potential in you, but I did. With every opponent you beat, you’ll grow stronger both in Bey Spirit and strength.”
Valt: “I guess you’re right. I’ve got to do this for my father. So I can take down Shu.”
*Valt readied his launcher towards the wall. He had to get in through a crack so he could send in as much Bey Spirit as he could. Valt then launched Victory Valkyrie into the wall as hard as he could*
Valt: “Valkyrie! Bey Spirit Absorption Overdrive!”
*Victory Valkyrie slammed into the wall. The wall conducted much of the Bey Spirit, and much of it went through the wall where Gabe was. Gabe had trapped himself in, so his attempt to escape was too slow. The Bey Spirit went through his right arm, and left a hole. The Bey Spirit bounced off the bricks where Gabe was trapped. Gabe tried to cover up his arm, but it was too late. His arm started to melt off and the remaining Bey Spirit went inside of his arm, burning him from the inside out and disintegrating him into ashes. Gaia was laying on a brick right beside the ashes, and a large brick fell onto Gaia, crushing it into pieces. Valt and Rantaro smashed the wall down and saw the remains of Gabe and Gaia*
Rantaro: “You did well, Valt. I have no doubt that if someone will be able to take down Shu, it will be you, Valt.”
Valt: “Thanks. We should probably go get Ken now that this is over.”
Rantaro: “Good idea.”
*The two traveled through the tunnel, and got Ken, who was still standing at the entrance. They walked through the tunnel, and were only a few minutes away from Ivanten*
