Firstly, aplogies to all those who have continued to express an interest in attending but have not seen or heard much progress on the subject. I'm honestly still not completely sure who does and doesn't want to come so I'm starting an all new thread (things get quite confusing when you try to organize tourneys in older threads).

Please post whether you can or cannot come, I'll add you to a nice, new attendance list in the first post so everyone can see what's happening. I am assuming that we have 8 or more attendess but if not I'll deal with that in a day or so.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's all the current tourney info, originally created by theflightyellz (thanks!):

Cold Combat
Regents Park, London
Meeting Spot: The Boathouse Cafe
12:00pm - 3:30pm

Regents Park has been the location for the last few WBO tournaments, and we've found it to be a good location, yet we felt a change was in order. The previous location was difficult for a lot of people to find, and was poorly located which made access to food and toilet facilities difficult. The new location will be The Boathouse Cafe.

The attached map should help you to find the location:
http://www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/regents_park/

The Boathouse Cafe is marked as number 5, and is heavily sign posted throughout the park. It is also marked as number 5 on all maps within the park.

We'll me meeting outside the Boathouse Cafe at 12:00, and will move to an area of nearby grass at 1:00 to start the tournament. The tournament will most probably go on until around 3:30, yet it could go on for less, or possibly longer.

We will be around for a period of time after the tournament, but probably not for a lot longer since the park will be pretty much pitch black by 4:30/5:00.

We'd recommend traveling to the event from Baker Street station, as it's closest to the event.
  • The tournament style will be block round robin, since this worked well at the last event.

  • The main tournament will be MFB only, but free battles will allow plastic and HMS as usual.
Items we'd recommend for you to bring would include a hooded coat or jacket in case of rain, possibly an umbrella, and layers such as jumpers and scarves (as the weather will be taking a colder turn by the time of the tournament).

We'd also recommend that if you do intend to take part in the tournament, then bring your own beys.

This may sound like an obvious suggestion, but in the past people have come without, expecting to borrow other peoples.
This would not be a problem, but more than half the blades that have been lent out to people have either come back damaged from improper use, or not come back at all (as those who visited expo will know).
Obviously this has made people a lot more reluctant to lend out their own beys.

The entry fee will be the same as usual, free with a blader passport (£6 to buy), or £3 otherwise, and as usual there is no age restriction.

We hope you'll be interested in this tournament, and enjoy it as you have done with previous tournaments.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's pretty much all that needs to be said on the matter, if you have any queries, suggestions, or want travel advice, etc, feel free to PM me or post here. I'd say you could ask theflightyellz too but he's gonna be more busy lately so it's probably best not to disturb him at the moment.......he does know what he's doing though and would be able to answer questions if it was super urgent.

Really, really, really urge people to bring lots of layers, I've been in central London a lot lately and it is bloody freezing and will only continue to get colder, especially in the evenings.

Regarding lending out beyblades, I personally don't mind people borrowing mine but, for the aforementioned reasons, other people might not be so free with theirs so try to bring your own if you can.

Funnily enough. I'm actually in London that day so i'll come. Thanks guys.
Can't come Tired

Reason being its a monday but yeah life doesn't revolve around me Tongue_out
Sucks Ash, better luck next time. : (

Already knew about Matt. : P
Sorry people, I'm Christmas shopping this Friday which will cost me to much as it is so I don't think I can get the money for this. Pinching_eyes I will get to one of these tournys one day.
How about Winter Skirmish

or Winter Wake-up-Call <<< (Not too sure about this one)

or Winter Wipeout
i like winter wipeout name it's more catchy but winter skirmish makes more sense.
I'm coming to the tournament, if my parents allow it. As for the tournament name, I would have chosen "Winter Whirlwind" as an appropiate one.
Meh, I was just tryna get a change from the Alliteration we've kept using xD
Ah I'm really sorry. But family matters (my uncle's funeral) require me to be in Leeds for a week or so. I am sorry that I can not make it, and I was really looking forward to meeting all of you.

Thank you for your understanding.

21st is gonna be snowing/raining and 4°C!
It could be worse lol

Here right now it's -4 and with windchill feels like -12 (and it's only going to get colder). Outdoor tourneys for us are just out of the question Unhappy

I was looking forward to meeting you Benkei, but my condolences.

It did snow quite a lot here today, actually. Hmm, we'll let Rocky/Flight sort this out, I'm sure they'll have thought about this too.
In England it always feels colder than they actually say Tongue_out
I'm very sorry to hear that Benkei Hanawa, out thoughts are with you. Unhappy Hope you can make future events. Smile

As for the weather and such, I think it's still a little too early to be guessing the forecast. That said, I am not expecting amazing sun or anything - this will most definitely be a cold tourney, assuming it goes ahead. However, I think beyblading in the snow would be quite pretty and if NYC had a tourney with a frozen stadium, or at least came close to it, I'm sure our in-comparison-mild weather shouldn't be too much of a problem.
If you put down that you're coming, it is in knowledge that it will be cold and a little harsh, you're just agree to come anyways. 'Cause you're hardcore and all. :3
Therefore, if we get 8 people wanting to come regardless of snow and such, it'll go ahead anyways. If not, then we'll re-evaluate what conditions we're comfortable with and what we're not comfortable with.
In any case, it'll be a learning experience.

Oh and obviously if it snows and rains super hard then it'll be cancelled, more due to lack or London transport than anything else, but we'd deal with that nearer the time, hopefully such an event will not occur.

EDIT: revertedtozero, I'll add you to the list, please find out whether you can make it as soon as possible.
Oh and I was in Paris over the weekend, we we're outside most of the day and it was like -7C. >< Was pretty cold but I was only wearing jeans, T-Shirt and a hoodie and I'm still alive; thus I'm assuming if you wrap up properly you'll be fine. XD
dont have football this saturday so i'm definetly coming..
the weather forecast looks good considering the recent conditions, but if it does snow, it's likely to turn into sleet.
anyway, put me on the list Eee
The 21st is a monday btw....
oh lol.
i keep getting confused with the old tourney.
Well even in the old thread the date proposed was a Monday....so, you can come on the Monday then?
