Beypoint Processing

Payment should be done basically right after the event is done, so that when the results are sent to us, the organiser can say how much was sent, who bought Blader Passports, etc. all in only one private message.

I have done all of that, spell-checked the names twice, payment confirmation number attached, cc-ed to Kei, battle results in a format suggested in the guide, faces-list for winners/judges, credits needed for all participants etc, all sent in 1 message on the same date as the tournament itself. Yet, more than 3 weeks later, I'm still clueless as to why it has not been processed yet, hence the suggestion regarding the stickied thread, to at least keep some of us aware of what is going on, and whether there's a hold-up of some sort in other tournaments on an earlier date.

There is nothing wrong with what you do, nothing at all from what I remember. However, yes, if you look in the Official Events forum, there are some tournaments that happened before yours, and we have our own lives too.
Well I do kind of agree with the OP , i mean Only show in Perth happened before HPT3 as well as numerous other tourneys and HPT3 was processed on the 17th of July so yeah Uncertain
Also the username change thing annoys me because i had set out all my results and stuff and was about to send them out and then after i did i realized that people have changed there name , so i can with the hold up for all that stuff.Oh and i have noticed that in the Sydney tourneys the faces have been given out late/not given out.

Usually I give the Faces right after I have processed the results, that way I know I did not give them twice. Unless the organiser absolutely bothers me about giving them early ...

Recruit more help? As the WBO expands and becomes more ambitious with activities, it's important to have the proper staffing to make sure everything is done efficiently and at the same time, without stressing yourselves out.

The answer to that is:

Hm, were the results processed for that tournament ? Because I know that there is one Sydney event where part of the results were lost or something like that.

Read my first post in this topic. This cannot happen.
It is entirely possible to add new committee members and moderators. Serious In my most recent post, I didn't say to process beypoints. I meant staff in general.

Honestly, I think it would be fair to have at least a moderator in every major metagame. It would help in monitoring events as well.
Moderators moderate posts and topics. Committee Members do that, plus everything else about this site. As I mentioned, there is a reason we are not adding more Committee Members ...
Regarding some of the comments regarding how Toronto tournaments are supposedly prioritized: that is not the case at all.

Admittedly, we have not been terribly organized until very recently regarding the chronological processing of tournaments. Part of the problem is as Kai-V stated: sometimes we would prefer to wait to confirm that the results have been processed correctly before we move on. Aside from this though, as a result of our disorganization, I was never completely sure which tournaments were OK to process next until I checked in with Kai-V. What I did know, however, was the situation in Toronto. If I had a Toronto-area tournament to process, I did it. I figured, "It's better to do something, rather than nothing, isn't it?". I can't speak for ♥ or Blitz, but I feel like a similar thing occurred with the UK-based tournaments as well.

I hope you all can understand this. And just so you all know, I have processed at least four other tournaments in this month alone that were from outside Toronto.

We are doing our best, remember that.

This is completely understandable as it is the most sensible thing to do. However, by doing so, you generate a certain neglect to the other community, which, in turn, will result in questions or thread creation like this one.

If it is supposed to be done chronologically, then do commit to it. You will share the feeling of 'urgency' to get your tournaments processed, which is experienced by many who participated in tournaments already.

EDIT: We are merely impatient, nonetheless we are grateful.

July 24 - Silver Spring, Maryland: The July Joust

Result receipt
Spelling of names
Payments
Battles
Faces
Credits

etc etc. When a bullet point is done, you can always delete that particular bullet point.

Any thoughts on this?

This is an idea we have discussed before, but we're thinking of the best way to implement it at at the moment. I agree that more transparency would help matters, absolutely.

I realise that this is a point which has been raised before, but the entire process of processing results is not as easy as it looks. Considering we have nearly 50,000 members, any potential spelling error will likely take us to a completely different user. If there was a mistake halfway through a tournament's results, we would have to first delete everything after it (which alone, takes a long time), and then reprocess everything. This is extremely time-consuming.

To speak from my own experience, what Kei said absolutely nails it. If a tournament occurs in a completely different region, say, in the UK, then it's fine to process them whenever we receive them. As Blitz or I will normally have attended said tournament, we'll just go ahead and do it the night of the tournament if we have time, since we can be sure everything is checked out and fine, and that all money has been received. It's worth noting that again, it is about the confidence we have in your results and the situation surrounding them - I'm not targetting anyone in particular, but the more organised all your results are, the easier and more smoothly your results can be processed.

Unfortunately, only Committee members can access the interface which is used for Beypoint processing, so I hope you'll all understand when we say that we can't just recruit volunteers or tournament organisers to process their own results.

However, th!nk's suggestion to have a central inbox is a great idea, and I would be fully behind supporting and implementing something like that.

To kind of expand on that, would it be acceptable to post results in the thread as well that way everyone can double check your work?

For example, I'm probably the worst person to "double check" results because I'm dyslexic so names/order don't always process well visually for me, however, if a user points out that I've reported something wrong in a tournament I've hosted, then it can be discussed in the thread.

Although, my double elimination program is pretty sick and keeps track for me.

Also, maybe it's a good idea to rotate out which committee member is in charge of processing each event? During the proposal stage, maybe you guys could delegate a member to process your results there instead of having each of you trying to figure out who has the results.
ive been waiting a month for beyslay 2 stuff to be procesed but i totaly agree with deikailo

Like right now, it will just be decided based on who has time after the tournament has happened, once we have reached that event in chronological order. It is pointless to delegate the results to Kei, just as an example, if once we get to those results he is very busy.
You know, I posted results for my past two events in the thread and I found that it really helps for making corrections possible before the committee gets a chance to process it.
I have no idea why whole matches would be missing from the list of results to begin with though. If it is just a winner being a loser in fact in a battle, then it is fine whether it is notified before, after or in the middle of processing.
Because I do round robin in a grid. Normally, I do it in a certain order, but because I have a limited amount of judges or players are late, I have to go out of order, which leads me to misreading it.
While this topic is brought back, I have to say that for people who have been complaining about us not processing tournaments fast enough, we really caught up. Actually, we caught up to the point where we are basically ready for last weekend's (13-14th of August) tournaments, yet most of the organisers have seemingly not sent us the results yet even.
In my opinion I think the Special account for sending results to is good. However I think that the comitee should just do what ever is easiest for them individually. It may seem harsh but I think it is equally fair on both sides. If the hosts make silly mistakes, why should the comitee wait and hold up somebody who sent their's in perfectly just so it can be processed it chronological order. So guys please don't blame the whole thing on the comitee, it is partly the host faults too.

*LIKE* button. Good job guys!

You might as well disclose who haven't sent in the results yet. People will help asking them to send asap.
We respect the organisers' inboxes though, hah.
Well they're not respecting the rest of us, or people who paid entry fees, by taking their sweet time with something that is honestly not that difficult.

Just want to add great job on catching up, things seem to be moving faster now Smile
