TOURNAMENT RULES: WBBA Rules BURST FORMAT - 3on3 & 5G
First Stage – WBBA 3on3 Battle Format Rules
In the first stage, this tournament will be played using an non-WBO ruleset for the matches played: WBBA’s 3on3 Battle Format. This format is used by TAKARA-TOMY for some of their events in Asia. The rules are as follows:
1. Matches are to 3 points
- Outspin = 1 Point
- Knock Out = 1 Point
- Burst = 2 Points
2. Deck Construction: 3 Beyblades
- Each player constructs a deck consisting of 3 Beyblades within 1.5 minutes.
- No parts may be repeated throughout each combination. The same rules from WBO’s Deck Format for repeating parts will apply (see the "Deck Format Advanced Rulings" section in the WBO Burst Format rulebook).
- Up to one Layer with multiple spin direction capabilities may be included in the deck (ex. Lord Spriggan). Spin direction changes for Layers with multiple spin direction capabilities are permitted. If both players want to change spin directions at the same time, the change must be made in secret.
3. Deck Sequencing & Inspection
- Each combination will be placed into one of the three numbered slots in a deck box (pictured above).
- We will have these available to borrow at the event, but please bring your own if you have one.
- The judge will then inspect both decks to ensure they are legal.
4. Perform Battles in Sequence
- Players perform battles following the sequence of the Beyblades in their deck box until one player scores 3 total points. This means that the Beyblades in the #1 slot will play each other, followed by #2 vs #2, and #3 vs. #3.
5. Ties
- If there is a tie at any point, the match will be replayed using the same two Beyblades until a winner is determined for that round.
- If neither player has earned 3 Points after all three rounds have been played between all three Beyblades, players will re-order their deck (or keep it in the same order) in secret and then play a decisive fourth round (and fifth, if needed) to determine the match winner.
Finals – WBBA 5G Battle Format Rules
The top eight players from the first stage will advance to a final using the WBBA 5G Battle Format rules:
View Rules (Click to View)
Note: All other existing WBO Burst Format rules unrelated to the match ruleset outlined above will apply for this event.

Awesome! Excited for Anime North this year so far its gonna be the second tournament I'm able to go to!
Cool format, excited to see how it goes!
Zanyke I am a huge fan of you I love all your videos
Kei, do you need deck cases? I only have one but I will donate it to the event
I'm a bit confused with the rulings for beyblades with spin direction changes. Could you use something like Lord Pegasus and something like Master Diabolos in a deck since you have limited Lord to one spin direction, or is using both lord and master in a deck completely out of the picture?

Yes, any additional deck cases would be helpful!
Exactly, you could do that. Assuming the third Beyblade in your deck also doesn't have multiple spin direction capabilities, you could have both Lord Pegasus and Master Diabolos in your Deck because you would only have one Layer with multiple spin direction capabilities. The point of the rule is to avoid people building the most versatile deck possible by including something like Lord Spriggan and Master Diabolos simultaneously due to the ability to switch spin directions in this format. It limits their power.

That makes sense. We want people to actually strategize and not just play it safe with everything so this limits their versatility. A correct prediction could be completely obstructed by someone just switching spin directions and then you win because you essentially can slither out of a bad matchup. Limiting the player to one Beyblade with multiple spin capabilities makes the player have to think how their going to use that privilege in one or max 2 rounds
Hello everyone, I just received some unfortunate–but unsurprising–news that Anime North 2020 has officially been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that this event has now been cancelled.
For those of you who have already purchased tickets, Anime North has stated that nobody will be paying for the event this year. All attendees will have the option for a full refund or a roll-over to 2021.
I do not have all of the details for this myself and they may be posting how this will work soon, but I encourage anyone who has already purchased tickets to contact Anime North directly.
I'm really sorry for everyone that was looking forward to this. I have been helping to host our events at Anime North for over ten years now, so having to skip this year is a huge disappointment for me personally as well. But I'm sure everyone will agree that the health and safety of us all comes above everything else right now. I hope you all continue to heed the advice of the Canadian government and stay home unless it is absolutely necessary to leave until this pandemic passes.
I sincerely hope to see all of you next year at Anime North 2021! Stay safe.
