WBO, strict or not strict?

It is Strict in a good way.
Kai-V: She prevents spam I see people who hate her it is wrong. Without her, This would be the Wbso (World Beyblade Spam Organazation) but it is very strict in a very good way.

But it has to be due to all spammers and bots Never respond to the bots. So Yes in a good way. So Stop wining and spamming
WBO is only strict when it has to be. if you post something like, "Make me a pokemon game" on ask a question, get an answer! #2, then it becomes reasonably strict. We are lucky to have our moderators, ESPECIALLY Kai-V who is extremely reasonable.
In my opinion i wouldnt say there strict but "fair". Though some of the blunt "dont post this here" notices you get when you first join can be taken to heart, imagine if your job was to constantly search this site and clean up 8 year olds mess. You would also get a little grumpy i certainly wouldnt want to be doing it x) and in the end it makes it alot easier for people using the search button Smile

but trying to moderate forums when you arent a moderator....just no....

Actually, regular users do at least half of the "don't post this here, do this instead" work. We also report posts so that a Moderator or Administrator can swoop in and do the official moving/erasing.

I spend a good bit of each day reporting posts and informing new/inexperienced users of proper methods.
This forum is WAY stricter than another forum I'm on.

It's more strict than a lot of forums.

For extremely good reason, and to extraordinary effect.

you should apply to be a moderator then Wink but in all seriousness im sure some people like yourself do a good job of it and its probably quite helpful. but i've seen some others.. just my opnion Smile
For the warnings you get I think you should be able to appeal against them. I mean I got a 30% warning for threatening a member and I was joking. I know it wasn't clear but still I think it was quite harsh. Also that member has now been banned so it seems horribly pointless especially when I was doing fine before getting warned for a slightly off joke.
We've discussed warning appeals before - I do not personally think people should be able to appeal them, but I still support the idea of an expiration on certain types of warnings. (E.G.: Failed tournaments, posts from more than a year ago, etc.)

The problem with appealing warnings is that it suddenly becomes an issue where the mods are constantly dealing with people as if it's the criminal justice system, and it isn't. A warning isn't going to get bigger as time goes on, and as long as the warning isn't a >50% one, you're unlikely to ever hear from it again. That sharp crack of the whip over your back from the first warning sets you straight. If you have it in your mind that you can simply argue your way out of the warning, then you're less likely to respond in the desired fashion.

well considering u called me stupid and warned me for quoting you.

You just quoted a year old post to fuss at Kai-V and ask how to become a Moderator?

get out

I am someone who has been using internet forums for a number of years I enjoy the fact that WBO moderators are diligent in keeping things organized and making sure rules are actually enforced. I have seen some pretty poorly run forums over the years, where rules are ignored, there is no mod presence, disorganization everywhere. Those forums always fail. Besides, its not like you are going to get permabanned for making one or two stupid posts here; the warning system offers an alarm. Unless you do something seriously retarded like post teh pr0nz you are allowed to make mistakes. I think Toonpenguin said it best in that, if new members were never informed of the rules and bad threads not locked, the forum experience for the rest of us would be considerably less enjoyable. Productive, responsible members are the best kind of members, and Kai-V and the other mods do a bang up job of helping shape the newbies into that model. So, thank you mods and admins for making WBO a positive experience. Please continue to keep being "strict"! Wink

no the rules are not enforced i have 5 PMs from fury caliing me stupid, dumb, annoying awful at beyblade, etc;...
Well, quoting month old posts and replying in broken English is hardly the way to prove your detractors wrong.
If you're getting harassing PMs from people, alert a Moderator or Committee Member, don't fuss about it.

Private messages are private, "average human being".
I do not think that the warning system is strict, like how long you will get suspended and things like that. I just think that we are hard on first time offenders and newbies. That is a good thing though because they won't do it again. But I also feel that if someone makes a bad post then almost everyone that thread will insult them and tell them about what they did, and that is sort of harsh. But if we just stop ganging up on people that make mistakes then I think that this community will be fine.
I think that you should be able to appeal for old posts that were warned to be removed. I think alot of people banned were banned for noobish mistakes, i'm already up to 70% with them, and I really don't want to leave. It makes people uncomfortable when on the forum, and they don't feel they should try to contribute. Yes I know some warnings deserve to be forever, but ones that were little mistakes should have a timed effect.

Oh sorry, I have not read that thread yet.
This is mentioned every second or third post and the.answer is always the same: if you are not going to do anything wrong then you have no reason to be worried.

Honestly, it's actually a very healthy lesson for younger people to learn.
Actually, barely anyone has been banned because they really reached a one-hundred-percent warning level over small things.

If your "contribution" is something you're going to get warned over, then let me be quite frank: we do not want it.

If you really cannot see what is right and wrong after so much time here, or even after just the FIRST warning you get, then you're likely going to self-destruct anyway.

It's extremely easy to see what contributions are valid, necessary, contributory, etc. It just requires the contributor poteniate to actually think - which is something we'd rather encourage than discourage.

So what? I have a 70% warning too, it is actully hard to get banned from this forum you have to do some stupid things to actully get banned. People should not get worried, if you just read around and read the rules and make smart post you won't be warned. Dean while I was typing this you guys covered what I was trying to get at.
If an individual is uncomfortable with their warning level, they should take some time and realize they're actually uncomfortable with how inherently stupid they were, and utilize it to the fullest effect in rectifying the detrimental behavior.
I think there should be a 1-time resetting of the warning levels associated with bad posts, and I think that reset should happen when the WBO grants the antique face.

If a user has improved the quality of their posts to the level that the WBO sees fit to bestow the antique face, then that user deserves to have their prior warnings removed - and deserves the freedom to screw up in some other area (like say a tournament hosting gone wrong) without the fear of getting banned from a 30-40% warning on top of the previous warnings from their "youth" on the site.
