Hello
Over the past couple of years I know that WBO and many tournament bracket formats favors a tournament bracket app called Challonge.
However I notice in a number of tournaments and most recently that the Challonge app rewards competitors in group stage matches that finish their matches later than those that has a better record of win and loses.
For example in a top 8 cut, Player 1 has one lose at 1 - 2, three wins at 2 - 0, and one win at 2 - 1.
Player 2 has one lose at 1 - 2, two wins at 2 - 0, and two wins at 2 - 1.
Stats wise player 1 has a better record than player 2, however because player 2 last match ended much later than player 1 match that end with a win at a earlier, player 2 get a better standing and got into the top 8 despite the difference in the match record.
The math in how scoring in Challonge doesn't add up, and scoring a match as 2 - 0 or 2 - 1 or 1 - 2 or 0 - 2 does not give an accurate way of determining a top 8 cut and the final stage always leads to those that finish their matches later getting a better standing even with having the same 4 - 1 win record with other players.
On top of all that, Challonge's Buchholz system in the event of a tie breakers has a flawed way to determine who has a better score because all the scoring for the matches are 2 - 0, 2 - 1, 1 - 2, or 0 - 2. Which created a problem because there no clear difference on who is the strongest on average base on matches results and the Buchholz tie breaker will end up reward players that finish their matches later and placed in a higher standing position than the other that had a better track record of win/loss difference. And if a player quits during a tournament or DQ themselves from the competition than would that also affect the Buchholz scoring as well?
Challonge app end up favoring those that finish at a later time and it creating an unfavorable result in tournament final stages.
So my question is this, is there a better way to score a match result in Challonge than what is current?
My suggestion is to score the results base on the total number points earn in a match and determine the top 8 bade on the margin of how big of a win or loss ratio.
(Example: player 1 win his best of three match first to four match against player 2 by a total points of 8 - 3 "4 - 1 R1, 4 - 2 R2" on the match score results)
But if anyone has a better suggestions on how Challonge should be scoring in beyblade x tournaments or if there is a better bracket than challonge that is more accurate and built for beyblade than please share your thoughts or answers here.
Please and thank you
