I bet, many of you guys are wondering what is inside of the engines gears. Many had tried to open it, and not all of them can reassemble them. For those who are interested in knowing what inside the engine gear, here we go step by step.
I opened a Normal right spin engine gear that can be get from Rock Bison or Wolborg 4, ETC . It is divided into 3 layers that are :
i) First/bottom layer
ii) Second/middle layer
iii) Third/upper layer
i) First / bottom layer
This is the bottomless layer of the engine gear which is composed of :
a. 4 gears
Gear 1 : It is the gear located at the centre which is attached to the pin that is used to attach the engine weight.
Gear 2,3 & 4 : Gears that is attached and contact with Gear 1.
b. small spring (it is shaped like the spring inside the launcher, just the size is much smaller)
c. switch
it looks like a toogle that is attached to the spring. This switch is the one that trigger the engine gear to spin (activated when the clutch hit the switch). The 'switch' which looks like a round (not really round) attached to the spring which will release the potential energy in from the large coil springIt is located at the bottom less of the first layer.
ii) Second / middle layer
After the cover is removed, you can see that there are two gears. Actually there is only one particular gear that is belong to this layer as the other gear ( Gear 6) is attached in the upper layer.
Gear 5 is attached well and in contact with Gear 6.
iii) Third / upper layer
This layer is consist of 1 huge gear ( Gear 6) and a large coil spring.
a. Huge gear/ Gear 6
It is one large gear that is attached to a large coil spring underneath it.
b. Large coil spring
One large coil spring that is placed at the upper most of the engine gear. This spring play big role in functioning the EG as it make the to spin.
Each gears are essential to make the engine gear functional. One missing gear would mean a total destroy to the engine gear and it can’t function. While, the springs are very sensitive and shouldn’t be move because it would be a great trouble to attached them to its place again. In addition. springs have elastic limit which mean in a certain amount of force, the spring can’t retain to it’s original shape which mean you just destroyed your engine gear.
With the pictures and the elaboration, I hope for those who tried / going to repair or open their engine gear know sorts of things they need to do when opening the engine gears.
NOTE :
• All Components of the EG regardless of types are the same. Only the arrangement for Left and Spin are a bit different which is one spin clockwise, and the other spin anti-clockwise.
• Remove the covers slowly and carefully as you might drop the gears and lost them or you might drop the spring(first layer). Putting them all together plus the spring won’t be an easy job.
• This guide can be used on any type of EG as long released by Hasbro/ Takara/Sonokong
