Man Shot outside his west side restaurant

Well I'm creating this thread just to kind of vent my very short thoughts.

I've know this man for years, albeit not personally, but that isn't the issue here. I literally broke into tears when I heard about this mans death. For years he has been apart of the community, working his hardest to take care of his family. He gave jobs to people in this community. He was the type of person that everyone should aspire to be - an unselfish person who cares about others, and works hard to prove his value for others.

I didn't cry because I knew him personally. It's not about me. He was a human being, and a great one at that. I valued this mans life because of his kindness towards others, and his determination to take care of his family, and others. He ended up getting into a fight with those men, not because he hated them, or because he wanted to hurt them - it was because he cared about them, he cared about how people behave.

He just wanted everyone in the community to get along, I knew this much about him. He would reprimand people that misbehaved, or talked bad to others. He wasn't afraid of anyone because he felt that this community loved him. I will always remember this man because of what he stood for, and because of the people he cared about.

I've never cried before this day for the death of another human being. I've never experienced this feeling before. I feel some comfort in the fact that police are investigating his murder, and are taking the initiative to hunt the bastards that took his life. I don't want the man who did this to die - I want him to live for as long as possible, constantly reminded of what he destroyed. He should serve a life sentence, and that would definitely satisfy me.

I weep for his family - there is nothing that anyone can do, or say to take away the pain of losing some one that loved them so much.

To sum this all up, I value those who value others, and they are the most important people in this world. Those who don't understand this, and ignorantly take away life should be punished.

I am so tired of people dying around me. Even though I don't know the people that died, it's just so sad that their lives are being taken from them.

I just have to wonder what the scuffle was about. That's the entire reason why I try to stay on people's good sides, and don't piss anyone off. It's unfortunate that his life had to end this way.

that is really sad. Such a good person who only tried to help people, and make things better had to die. Its a shame that someone worked so hard and did so much had to die.

Apparently there's a group of guys going around on the west side killing valued members of the community in robberies.

it's sure sad, but remember there are people dying everywhere on the planet in every single second. Some of them died because they had nothing to eat. Some of them died because they got too fat because they ate cheeseburgers every day. Sure this man's story is sad, but there are so many people that just die and deserve it so much less than him. Kids that didn't even have a chance to live because they died as babies. Or fathers of many children, whose families are like sentenced to death because they're all so poor.

I still find it really amazing you actually cried about that. Not many people are able to be touched so much by such things when they don't affect themselves or their friends or relatives.

There's no way for me to know if they catch the perpetrators, but I sincerely hope that they do. More than likely, if they don't catch the guys that did this, more people will die at their hands.

I'm well aware of all the horrors that go on in this planet. I understand that people die all the time. There's just no way any one person can mourn for every one.

It's just the fact that I talked to this guy every so often, so I knew he was a decent person. It made me really sad to find out that he was gone, and in such a horrible manner.

You don't have to tell reasons why you were sad. Being sad for one single person, just like Artie's quotation said, is probably human. That's unfortunately the only thing I came to when thinking about stuff like that.

I don't think very many have the ability to grasp the amount of people killed in situations like these, especially without a visual. There's so much injustice apparent in the world, and yet people shrug it off because they're more content not knowing about the world's horrors.

Maybe it's better that way for them, but it's hard to live with the fact that one could read about 400,000 deaths due to a conflict overseas and not care. Who's going to help them?

Oh, I'm not arguing it. Just commenting on what I dislike about that fact. It just makes the lives of those people seem so insignificant and trivial compared to celebrities.

It would be a mistake to discredit his life as well though. Heath Ledger was a terrific actor who really made something of himself, and I honestly don't believe his death was an intentional suicide.

Insensitive? I was just stating what I've read, and heard about.

I didn't even know who Heath Ledger was before I read about the supposed suicide. When I did read about the incident, they claimed it was a suicide. Outside of that, I still don't know much about him.
