Sorry but design is also an important aspect of the game as well, I'm waiting for bearings and rollers. I love them. Thats something I feel it about. My first blades where roller defenser and spin dragoon. What was yours? Don't you miss that blade and having fun?
My first Beybades were Wolborg, Galeon and Dranzer F. There's nothing to miss because I still have all of these Beyblades. The only thing I miss is living near Toronto, where most of the Bladers in Canada are. But I get to go every now and then so I don't mind.
Roller Defenser and Spin Dragoon are both terrible, boring Beyblades. I have both of them, never use them, and certainly don't feel bad about it!
Of course design is a huge part of the game ... which is ironic, because you mention Roller Defenser and Spin Dragoon, one of which is one of the worst designed Beyblades of all time (Spin Dragoon) and the other is relatively worthless (Roller Defenser [aside from the spin switch tech which is now illegal]).
MFB's design so far is far and beyond the level of design experienced when the original Beyblade series was launched. HMS also had far better design than the plastic generation -- it was so good, in fact, that the best-designed parts rendered other parts useless (HMS's biggest downfall).
It seems to me that your nostalgia is for your childhood in general and has very little to do with Beyblade.
