The Future of WBO Ranked: Seasons, Masters & More!

2025 was an explosive year for both Beyblade X and the WBO, with over 2,200 Beyblade X tournaments posted, almost 1,000 judges, and hundreds of new organizers joining the ranks.

We launched a new version of our Beyblade X rulebook — and then launched it again, but better.

We made some big improvements to how events are both discovered and posted on worldbeyblade.org.

Now we’re excited to share details on some exciting updates to WBO Ranked play happening in 2026, built on everything we’ve learned and heard in 2025:

  • Ranked Seasons are coming to Beyblade X events February 1st, 2026
  • WBO Masters League, a new leaderboard featuring a standardized competitive ruleset, launches early Summer 2026
  • Custom On-Site Leaderboards are coming around Summer 2026, allowing any WBO Organizer to build leaderboards around both WBO Ranked League and WBO Open League (currently “unranked”) events

But First…

Judge Test Re-opened
The Judge Test is back up and running, with new and updated questions to coincide with our new Beyblade X rulebook update! Just like before, you will have 2 chances per calendar month to be able to take the test.

Organizer’s Guide & Winning Combo Submission Updates
We have largely re-written and revitalized our Organizer's Guide! This includes many quality of life updates for readers, with the primary goal being for it to be easier to digest than our previous version without a loss of detail/quality. It is now 70% shorter!

As you’d expect, it still outlines what is and isn’t allowed at events, what your responsibilities are as an Organizer, and answers many questions that are asked regularly by new and seasoned Organizers alike. While it is new and much more concise, there is no doubt that improvements can be made as time goes on, so feel free to offer up advice and suggestions directly to us via modmail or #org-judge-chat on Discord!

We also have an entirely new Winning Combinations Form to help make formatting your Winning Combos post for X events easier! We hope that with the new Winning Combo Form’s UI it should be much quicker and easier for all organizers to present meaningful meta data from the tournaments they run. A quick change to note: Winning Combinations have changed to mean Beys that have battled at least once.

X Ranked Seasons Start February 1st, 2026
A little over a year ago we launched “Season 0” for ranked Beyblade X events. Our goal for this year was to make essential improvements to things like our rulebooks and tournament listings, scale up with the explosive growth in competitive Beyblade, and learn what this new evolution of the community needs going into 2026.

With many of those essential improvements and learnings complete, it’s time to say goodbye to Season 0 — and to static leaderboards. Starting February 1st 2026, the WBO Ranked Leaderboard will be separated into 4-month seasons, with this first one being 3 months to account for a delayed start.

As of that date, the first stage of WBO Ranked Events must follow the tournament systems chart detailed below, with a single elimination final stage including a third place tiebreaker match. The Organizer’s Guide and Challonge templates will also be updated in accordance with these changes!

We don’t have the final details today, but we’re also excited to announce that we’re preparing a new swiss system for organizers who want to break their tournament down into smaller pods while still using swiss for larger events.

Seasonal refreshes and improved tournament systems have both been longstanding requests from the community, and we are happy to finally deliver. But it’s just the start! Now it’s time to talk about …

WBO Masters League: A Standardized Competitive League Launching Summer 2026
While many appreciate the variety of battle types and optional rules available in WBO Ranked Events, we’ve also heard significant demand from both players and organizers for a leaderboard that follows a single, uniform ruleset of the utmost competitive standard.

That’s why this summer we’re launching WBO Masters League, a new leaderboard for 3on3 events using our base rulebook with registered deck lists. What you can expect:

  • Minimum Player Count of 32
  • 3on3 battles only
  • First Stage: 4-Point OR Best of 3 [4-Point] Matches
  • Final Stage: Best of 3 [4-Points] with registered deck lists
  • Higher competitive standards for organizers and judges

The goal isn’t to align exactly with the official rules; the goal is to support a B4-like experience for communities that want it, while also retaining core tweaks we’ve made based on feedback from those same communities.

We can confirm that Beyblade North 2026 @ Anime North in May will be run under WBO Masters League!

We’ll share more information directly with organizers within the next month on how to register interest and share feedback.

On-Site Leaderboards, Including Community Leaderboards, Coming Summer 2026
We managed rankings for previous Beyblade generations on-site, but in 2025 we moved to Challonge for our X leaderboard due to facing a number of unexpected development challenges. While this setup has had many benefits, leaving this to a third-party ultimately makes it impossible to provide the exact experience we want to.

That’s why in 2026 we’re bringing leaderboards back on-site with some big new features, the biggest of which being the ability for WBO Organizers to create and manage their own leaderboards directly on worldbeyblade.org.

WBO team member gregandcin has been hard at work for much of 2025 building the infrastructure to make this dream possible. Below is a screenshot of an early prototype featuring live information being pulled in from Challonge.

While we don’t have a specific date set in stone, our aim is to have this in a functional state for organizer use by Summer 2026.

WBO League Play: “Open”, “Ranked” & “Masters”
All events on worldbeyblade.org will have access to community leaderboards, including Open League events! This will align with all events posted on worldbeyblade.org being run under the banner of WBO League:

  • WBO Open League: Previously called “unranked”. Run any rules and format you want (within reason)!
  • WBO Ranked League: The current Ranked experience, including anything within the WBO rulebook.
  • WBO Masters League: Our upcoming standardized 3on3 ruleset for high-level events.

With these changes, we hope to support Beyblade organizers in providing a variety of experiences that suit their communities, while also giving events of every level access to upcoming tools and benefits.

Please note that events proposed and completed before the full introduction of on-site leaderboards cannot be retroactively included.

BIG Changes Coming to worldbeyblade.org
The World Beyblade Organization is seventeen years old. This website is seventeen years old. We’ve done our best to make it work for the community’s needs as those needs have evolved, and even shipped a number of substantial updates this year (with a few more still to come).

Still, we’ve largely hit the limit of what we can accomplish with the infrastructure we have today. That’s why in addition to launching on-site leaderboards in 2026, we’ll also be moving the entire website to a new platform to build the best experience possible for the Beyblade community. Our aim is to start this long process at some point in 2026 and consistently improve on the new site.

Whether you’ve been with us since 2008 (we know you’re out there) or just started blading this year, thank you sincerely for supporting WBO and Beyblade. We can’t wait to share more about WBO League and other projects we’re hard at work on!
Holy peak this is a lot and I've never felt more excited! These are some big changes, all of which are welcome! W WBO Staff as usual, we lovey ya!!!!!💜💜💜💜💜 Also dang. This site is like one to two years younger then me!

I do have a question though, maybe my question was already answered in the list but I couldn't find anything so Imma just ask. Will there be an All Time Leaderboard as well as the seasonal ones? Something like this, "Person A is ranked number one this season, but isn't ranked number one overall, that title belongs to Person B."
I LOVE the idea of seasonal rankings, but the static one is also appealing to me.

All in all, this is great stuff to see and I can't wait to be apart of it! 💜 :3

Edit: Also thank you gregandcin for the hard work!

correctly?

A so-called "winning combination" no longer needs to actually win in order to be counted?
...why?

To clarify, this was voted and decided upon by the staff for a number of reasons.

Mainly, in the many conversations we have had with organizers, it appears a large majority have been doing it this way regardless of the intent with the rules.
This goes as far back as the Burst era, as well.

The logic here is that it is easier to understand, and in 3on3 and Counter format, a "losing combo" can still influence decision making while reordering or countering your opponents. Therefore it is still valuable as a "winning combo" since it was technically used in a way that lead to a victory.

I hope that makes sense.
I’m running a ranked tournament in the morning, I can still run a single elim Final Stage until Feb. 1, correct?

Also, and I don’t currently have a hard copy of the old Organizer Guide w/ me to confirm, but for final stage is only 8 for <48 players? It CANNOT be a final stage of 16, right?
