ok I finally got around to testing this layer because I felt like it was an upgrade to Sieg Xcalibur. And my testing says I'm right, but its only just barely an improvement. Though none of these tests really show how much the improved teeth strength matter.
Also these tests have a Sieg Xcalibur test against the same opponent for comparison.
Vs Defense
So for these tests I wanted to see how capable they were at breaking defense combos compared to each other. I used orbit on aC/sA since that's more defensive than Atomic. While Shining Amaterios is considered an experimental opponent, its definitely a defensive upgrade to Alter Chronos and felt worth testing against. Buster Xcalibur is in buster mode because not even re-releases fixed its mode locking switch.
MGC Sieg Xcalibur.00Bump.Orbit vs Alter Chronos.00Proof.Orbit
(Simultaneous launches)
MGC sX.00B.O: 3 wins (1 OS, 2 KO)
aC.00P.O: 7 wins (7 OS)
Ties: 0
Buster Xcalibur.00Bump.Orbit vs Alter Chronos.00Proof.Orbit
(Simultaneous launches)
bX.00B.O: 3 wins (3 OS)
aC.00P.O: 7 wins (7 OS)
Ties: 1
Notes: These matches were a lot more close than the matches with sX vs aC.
MGC Sieg Xcalibur.00Bump.Orbit vs Shining Amaterios.00Proof.Orbit
(Simultaneous launches)
MGC sX.00B.O: 1 win (1 OS)
aC.00P.O: 9 wins (9 OS)
Ties: 0
Buster Xcalibur.00Bump.Orbit vs Shining Amaterios.00Proof.Orbit
(Simultaneous launches)
bX.00B.O: 6 wins (6 OS)
sA.00P.O: 4 wins (4 OS)
Ties: 0
Notes: This match is kinda weird. bX just was perfectly able to destabilize sA for some reason.
Vs Stamina
Twin Nemesis is in upper mode since that's appearently good for destabilizing opponents. You learn something new everyday.
MGC Sieg Xcalibur.00Bump.Orbit vs Twin Nemesis.00Proof.Orbit
(Simultaneous launches)
MGC sX.00B.O: 3 wins (1 KO, 2 BF)
tN.00P.O: 7 wins (6 OS, 1 BF)
Ties: 1
Notes: yeah this is a case where bX's better teeth would help
Buster Xcalibur.00Bump.Orbit vs Twin Nemesis.00Proof.Orbit
(Simultaneous launches)
bX.00B.O: 3 wins (1 OS, 2 BF)
tN.00P.O: 7 wins (7 OS)
Ties: 1
Using Keep'
Seems like in general both stationary Xcalibur combos were doing poorly, so I decided to change to a set up where I could launch them second instead of doing simultaneous launches. Though it seems worse. Also against Alter Chronos since that layer is defense.
MGC Sieg Xcalibur.00Bump.Keep' vs Alter Chronos.00Proof.Orbit
(sX launched second)
MGC sX.00B.Kp': 1 win (1 OS)
aC.00P.O: 9 wins (9 OS)
Ties: 0
Buster Xcalibur.00Bump.Keep' vs Alter Chronos.00Proof.Orbit
(bX launched second)
bX.00B.Kp': 3 wins (3 OS)
aC.00P.O: 7 wins (7 OS)
Ties: 0
Overall, I feel like bX is definitely an improvement to sX, though slight. I would have tried it on a mobile combo using X', but I feel like the that test might not be reliable since my X' might be too worn, or I've lost my touch at launching rubber flats in right spin. bX doesn't seem formatting breaking, but at the same time do we even want an upgrade to sX to exist in this format? I'm skeptical to layer powercreep, especially since I want Legend Spriggan to be good.
Give us Assault' re-release, Iron', and Charge'. Give a non-limited re-release of Cho-Z Achilles.
Legend Spriggan on tall attack drivers for Burst Limited is fun.
Against layer powercreep in Burst Limited.
