Hey guys! Apologies for longer post! TL;DR below.
One topic that's always hit home with me for Beyblade is just how fun of a hobby it is to have with not just yourself, but friends as well. I got into Beyblade when it first came out; collecting any I could with my allowance and watching the anime on repeat. At this age, my stepbrother and I lived an identical life in our hobbies and interests so he was by my side and joined me in my Beyblade fanclub through which we had each other's company to battle against, theory-craft with and all that.
Metal Fusion's debut took me by surprise. It had been a long while since beyblade was something I followed much and while working in a retail store when it came out, I got first hand looks at the presentation and shelving plans for it all and secretly hid some inventory for myself incase there was a surge of players coming in for beys, which was not the case but it still was fun! I managed to get a coworker/friend of mine into it and through his friends we managed a good 4-5 people all playing, but to my dismay they never took it too seriously and spent a lot more time getting into the drugs/drinking age and finding little time to actually play it much. They'd buy a bey here and there but no where near where I was at with owning them all, crafting ideas and more. Eventually, they stopped all-together and I eventually burned out.
With Burst coming out, I've been purposely avoiding too much hype for it because money has been tight and I've been battling the issue of spending money on beys that may just end up in the closet in a bin covered in dust a year from now. I live in a small, rural town so no chances of local tournaments or anything like that. My nearest toys r us, as an example for a possible meet up spot for fans, is at least 50 miles away deeming it quite a hike for what could be little to no turnout.
TL;DR -- I apologize for the long story, just was trying to paint a picture and mirror the question from it all to you guys maybe in this position; How do you stay into beyblade with a lack of friends to battle with and fuel off each other? There's no doubt it's a huge hobby of mine in the past and still now, but I find it hard to be motivated for Burst when I am sitting home alone most of the day finding the best bey to ultimately never get to use it much if ever.
