Hi everyone! This is the official thread for Better than School! - a tournament in Maryland and DC's most popular Beyblade spot (Martin Luther King Jr. Park) on Sunday, September 18.

Registration: 11am - Noon
Start time: Shortly after Noon
Format: Block round robin (This may change depending on actual number of attendees)
Surface: Grass!
Fees: Standard WBO fees ($5 entry fee or free with a Blader Passport)
Prizes: There will be two Random Booster 8's in the prize pool , along with Fang Leone. 1st place picks first prize from the pool, 2nd place gets to pick second, etc. etc. Also... a small surprise gift for all bladers!

Need-to-Know Information

Open your account page on your mobile device (if possible) during registration to help us keep things quick.
2. Arrive On Time
You must arrive by the tournament start time to enter. We cannot add new players to an event once it begins. If you're running late, contact the host.
3. Stay Aware of Your Belongings
We do everything possible to ensure a safe environment, but can't be held responsible for lost or stolen goods. Keep your gear close by!
4. The Tournament Will Last At Least a Few Hours
This event is likely to last at least a few hours. If you can't commit to the entire tournament, you're welcome to come watch and play for fun instead!
5. Listen For Your Username To Be Called
Your name will be called when it's time for your next battle. If you need to leave early or take a break, tell a judge. Missing a match could mean disqualification!
6. Players Must Meet Regional Product Age Restrictions
All players in this event must meet the age restrictions on Beyblade products in their region. TAKARA-TOMY recommends Beyblade for ages 6+. Hasbro recommends Beyblade for ages 8+. Players under these ages may only participate with the permission of their parent/guardian.
7. Players Under 18 Must Be Accompanied by a Parent/Guardian
If you are under 18 years old, a parent/guardian must accompany you and be present for the duration of the event.
8. Contests, Raffles, Gambling, Betting, and Selling Are Prohibited
Advertising the sale of any product or service, as well as posting about any contest, raffle, gambling, or betting on this event page and conducting them at the event without approval by Fighting Spirits Inc. staff is prohibited. Please contact the Organized Play team if you require approval.
9. Terms of Service

As of Midnight, 36 bladers are signed up for Better than School! - which is awesome! The weather looks pretty good, so I don't think rain will be an issue, but we have the pavilion if we need it.
Again, I will be making the determination as to the tournament format tomorrow at noon after everyone has signed up and is verified to be there.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Due to the large number of competitors and the difficulty that this poses in creating tournament brackets, if you have not arrived by Noon you may not be allowed to enter.
This bears repeating: There is a hard cutoff for registration at Noon. If you aren't there by Noon you may not be able to participate!
/IMPORTANT NOTE
I know that all of you will be there on time, as free play and set up is a big part of the fun, but please try to arrive no later than 11:30 so that we can be sure to start on time!
Also, for those of you who will be purchasing blader passports ($10) or a single tournament fee ($5), I am instituting a receipt system. This means when you give me $10, I give you a receipt signed by me that says you purchased a passport. And when you give me $5, I give you a receipt signed by me that says you purchased a single tournament. This way there is no confusion about who bought what, and after the fact if you don't have a receipt it means that you didn't buy it.
There will be no receipts given for my private (non WBO) sales of beyblade stuff.
