Should we (us,The user's) be able to change our usernames?

If so explain why

No Dumb Suggestions

If this thread should be up there should really be some Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-People can change usernames whenever.

Cons:

-Difficult to keep up with.
-Beypoints have to be udpated regularly
-Not knowing who is who

As much as many like you would like it, including me, actually, I'd say no, the reason being because of the one month rule teaching others to chose their username wisely. In addition to that, I'd say that Echizen's list of pros and cons is quite accurate, especially on the Beypoints being updated one. At least from my experience, it really bugs organizers.

By the way, the Tagging feature keeps absolutely no track of username changes, so if you want to be reached, it is better to stay 'immobile'.

Honestly, I can tell you that in over a decade of forums in my life, all the real, established personalities in a community barely ever change names. People need to know you, they need to have only one reference for you in their mind. Changing all the time technically transforms you into a whole other reference each time.

I don't see why that's a reason not to allow change to be honest.
If someone wants to be memorable, they'll soon learn that they need to stop being fickle.
If not, let them have their fun.

Take Brad for example : throughout more than a decade, he has only had two or three name changes, but you always clearly know that it is him. Tamer Brad, Bey Brad (because the wordplay was big enough to warrant a username change hah), and I think brad-t. If he suddenly became "King of the Game", "Swordsamurai", "Light King", etc., he would not have been serious; that is just fooling around with your identity. Have you noticed that all the current and previous staff members similarly have always stayed with the same name for years ?

Yep, I know.
But I can't think of a good reason for not even giving the choice of changing at will.

If someone wants to have a legendary username, then by all means, keep it.
For anyone who just happens to be indecisive with their usernames, I don't see why not.
If they regret it later, then that's their choice.

I'd like unlimited username changes, or at least a shorter waiting period, but I understand why it is what it is. It'd get too confusing at times.

If you change both two each weeks, it's like being a new person, and lost all your previous reputation. By the way, I know an other forum where you can only change your username by asking a member of the staff. It's a pretty good idea no ?

Well personally, I'd feel as if I was bugging the committee whenever I requested a username change, even if it was a while in between. At least with the 30 day rule, I can just keep changing my name to Dual.

And if you should choose to lose your reputation, so be it, why force someone otherwise? Why not allow someone to be like a new person?
There's no good reason to prevent/forbid it.

Well especially when the WBO Anniversary was going on, the committee didn't know who to give points to because their username kept changing. Same with tournaments.

Well especially when the WBO Anniversary was going on, the committee didn't know who to give points to because their username kept changing. Same with tournaments.

Why not add the option to have a preferred name that you can't change so they know who to give the points too

The only time I personally think the name chane function should be disabled is when a committee member is either processing battles or we are having a contest that involves keeping track of many usernames. Other than that, I believe it should be enabled.

I can imagine that processing tournaments would be difficult if people are changing their names randomly (and I imagine it would be even worse for distributing faces and whatnot).

Impulsive username changes drive me nuts; I say, if you really want to change your name, think very hard about it, choose something you think that you'll stick with for a long time, and then put your old username as your user title for a couple of weeks to let everybody know that it's you (and, if you've been in a tournament that needs processing, shoot the committee a PM and give them a heads up so they can find you easier when the time comes).

I say give us freedom. We never done it last Anniversary when there was loads of username changes. I'd like to be Galaxy Blade once in awhile, but not every month. If anything, 15 days for a change would be nice.

You could set ounce and that would be how long you have to wait
