Regarding Events Designed for Kids

I did some digging and cannot find any rule that explicitly states that WBO events can't be tailored to children specifically.

In a lot of communities parents are not willing to take their children to a Dave & Buster's on a school night where alcohol will be around. That's not to mention children just needing a space focused on competing against humans their own size.

Can any forum mod/admin explain why a previous attempt at creating a kids centric event was declined due to the age restriction (6-13) labeled to encourage fair play for children?

Please also don't take this as an excuse to suddenly update the rules to include explicit language. This really should be a dialogue. There's a whole generation of Bladers that aren't able to compete well because they're kids playing against adults 3 times their size.
I think a “junior league” or something should be a thing

Like for example Baseball has T-Ball

There peewee leagues for football for the kids

I feel like a league like that should exist and would be helpful to not have kids going against adults.

I want my nephews to start beyblading I jut don’t want them competing against grow adults such as myself
IDK, as a kid, I don't particularly feel like it's too unfair. Granted, I'm not an extremely young child that can barely reach the top of the stadium. I feel like there should be a league for people under 10, another for 10-18, and then 18+, but also open tournaments for all ages, because sometimes kids like me want to annoy adults with Wizard Rod.
kids have every ability to get as good as adults, as long as they're past Hasbro or tt's age suggestions.

Yea, an 8 year old physically isnt gonna be able to launch as hard as someone 10+ years older than them mate.

This is more or less where I'm leaning. Granted I'd expand 6-13 and then 13-17.

And 100% any all ages tournaments should remain just that.

The baseline perspective here isnt just about competitive viability, it's allowing kids to socialize with other kids, and parents of said kids to be more comfortable with the environments they're bringing their children into
The WBO doesn't allow age-restricted events. I think this is one of those things that isn't stated in any rulebooks or guides but has been mentioned by staff in various discussions. There was a discussion thread about allowing age restrictions a little while ago in the discuss section but doesn't seem to have gone anywhere.

Personally, I'm in favour of kids-only events. It was suggested to me by parents of kids who attended my events and shortly after I implemented a separate under 13 bracket, but allowing kids to compete in the main tournament instead if they want. Getting beaten 7 times in a row by adults 5 times your size isn't gonna be fun for anyone, so it makes sense to make a place more accessible for them. Plus, it allows the kids to use simpler rules like 1on1, and for the kids to wrap up faster because the parents don't usually want to stick around for like 5 hours.

My only problem with them has been that judging them sucks and is not fun. I've recently found a place where I can run kids' events separately and I'm gonna try getting the kids to judge their own matches since I think they'd probably enjoy that, and I'm no longer running the kids brackets at my main events.

When it comes to specific ages, I find that 12 year olds usually seem to be at the level where they can compete against adults just fine, and there tends to be a significant gap in skill between them and younger kids, unsure exactly where the line is but I may try putting under 10s in a division of their own.

From the WBO perspective though I think people often think of it as a place for all beyblade events, but that doesn't seem to really be the intention behind it. WBO events are their own kind of event that exists along many other kinds of events in the beyblade community. That's not to say that the WBO shouldn't allow age restricted events but that age restrictions may not fit into what WBO events are intended to be (I don't actually know I'm just guessing). You can always run age restricted events outside of the WBO.

I was gonna cut this up but I'll address everything in one shot.

Kids only events are a net positive. Especially for the kids themselves. Im sorry if you haven't enjoyed judging kids events. I had a blast just last week. These kids really get into it and playing opponents their own size/age goes a long way for their confidence in continue to play.

I will call out one specific point:

"You can always run age restricted events outside of the WBO."

Thats a given, but the exposure that being able to post here would provide will do so much to elevate the events. A separate youth ranking could be created or simple if an age restricted event is created, it CANT be ranked. It really is that simple.

Parents don't want to always have their kids playing against adults.
Kids don't always want to play against adults.
And the adults themselves feel legitimately bad playing against kids sometimes. But they can't risk "giving a point" to boost a child's confidence without risking their own standing in that tournament.

Allowing age-restricted events is the simplest fix.
Yeah I agree, idk why the WBO doesnt allow it, seems obvious it should be allowed. I just come from a perspective of having run events outside the WBO for ages so I'm more happy for them to do whatever. I would've been happy to continue running the kids brackets at my events if there was someone to judge them.

It is quite literally a kids toy.

As a 11 year old i dont support this children above 9 have the ability to beat adults and we like destroying adults with either wiz rod ball or dran buster 160 hexa with the 160 turned around and i think in this discussion i think our opinions matter more but i think limited tournaments for like 8 and under could be good

agreed. unless every adult on earth is constantly exercising, kids and adults are closer to even footing than some would frame. Also, some communities can't afford to have split age groups, due to the lack of people coming to tournaments.

in retrospect, perhaps kids under 10 would be at a significant disadvantage, but I'd say above 10 are close enough to equal.
Bumping my own thread for this one. It is kindve ridiculous still that we aren't able to post events designed for children even if they are non Ranked events.

Worse over since now we can create Custom Rankings.

I would love to be able to speak with an admin for WBO to find a solution.
