Redakai: Conquer The Kairu

Redakai is a new media franchise from Spin Masters (Bakugan, Air Hogs, etc.) and Marathon Entertainment (Martin Mystery, Totally Spies, etc.) that encompasses everything from 3D trading cards, action figures, and an animated series launching this fall on YTV (in Canada), and on Cartoon Network (in the US).

MTV.com Wrote:Games of the Redakai CCG will be played as 1-on-1 battles, where each player will control up to three characters. Each character is placed in an individual tray, where additional cards with transparent layers can be placed on top as the game progresses. When a character is attacked, a visual effect such as an energy blast or slash mark will overlay right on top of the character’s art. When they eventually transform, the art will be replaced entirely, but transparent layers along the edge will allow for stats and health to progress as the character evolves.

ICv2 Wrote:The most ingenious aspect of RedaKai is the gameplay itself, which is based in part on the proprietary 3-D process used in the cards. Not only do the cards have depth, they also have motion; the attack cards for example have 8-12 frames of animation, so the players can actually see the attack. Additionally many of the cards are created on clear plastic to allow for a simple “stacking” method of gameplay. When for example an attack card is layered over a character card, the effect of the attack is visible, or when a “monster” card is layered over a character card, the change in the character (and his power level) is clearly visible.

Redakai launches to Hobby Stores in June, before hitting mass retail in August.

Seems this will be the next big thing, though the card game seems overly simplistic. Almost like an evolution of the Bakugan card style.
May try this out if a starter set is cheap. Already too deep into Yu-Gi-Oh! to get serious about another game.

Then again, if this a Spin Masters/CN thing... I'm not expecting a whole lot of depth, but then again, let's look at the capture formulas for Pokemon...
For pricing on the cards:

ICv2 Wrote:The exclusive hobby SKUs include $4.99 Gold Packs, which contain six cards, including one rare card exclusive to the hobby; and the Hobby Structure Deck (MSRP $18.99), which contains 43 cards including a hobby exclusive card among several rares. The Hobby Structure Deck allows players to play at tournament level right out of the box. The other hobby SKU is The Championship Set, which also comes with 43 cards in a cigar box-like package with a card shield, which functions sort of like a DM screen to hide a player’s cards (which is helpful because the cards are somewhat transparent, and it’s useful to hide them from your opponent); a "battlefield" that will hold a player’s three character cards in the advanced game, and a blind draw deck box.
I own decks for basically evey major card game out here.

Probably going to get at least a structure deck.
Seems interesting. Thanks To! Hope you can more info on the show.

Anyone still play? I got into it before it started shutting down. I have a GIANT collection since I got a lot on clearance. So anyone still enjoy the game or play?
Hmm. Seems awesome. Thanks To!
Any actual fans left? I love the game still, anyone still play?
I recently starting buying some of this game from my local Walmart after walking through clearance and seeing a whole bunch. At first I saw packs, 3 pack blisters, starter decks (mainly Battacor and Raticor, but I found and purchased 1 stax) and X-Readers. I bought them out of the single packs and bought some of the 3 pack blisters. A few days ago I saw a bunch of championship tins on the opposite end of the aisle (which is kinda weird since you would think it would all be together, but heh it's clearance). The packs went from 2.00 to .25 cents (thats how I bought a bunch lately) blisters went from 3.00-1.00, the starter decks went from 7.00-2.00 and the tins are 4.00. I bought a tin, an x-reader, and a Batticor starter deck when it first came out, but now my collection has improved a lot. Hoping to buy more this weekend as the game is cheap and pretty fun.

Oh yeah and sorry for the major bump.

Yeah, the clearance for this is crazy. I think it might have one more year until Wal-Mart throws it out.
