So, I was at my local game store to make a pre-order on Asura's Wrath and was just kinda looking around in the DS game section when I saw a game called 'Bleach: Blade of Fate' If you know me just a little, you'll know that Bleach is my favourite series of the written and drawn media, but Bleach hasn't been very lucky in the video games department, especially here in North America. Most games that have been translated ranged from very, very sucky, like Bleach: The 3rd Phantom on the DS, to borderline decent with Bleach: The Shattered Blade on Wii. The only exception to that is the excellent PS3 game, Bleach: Soul Ignition. I had never heard of this game and, seeing it in the store, simply assumed it to be very, very mediocre. This was not helped by the price of said game, which was 4.99... Yeah, when a game is worth less than the Beyblade Bakuten Shoot game on Playstation 1 (Which was 7.99) it's usually not a good sign.
I took it anyway, if only for the luxury of saying 'Oh yeah, I own that too' and because... c'mon, it was only five bucks. I was fully expecting it to suck. I would basically buy it, play it for five minutes, find the gameplay to suck and put it in my shelf, kind of like I did for the 3rd Phantom. But Bleach: Blade of Fate, is... pretty damn fun! I'm serious, this is a very enjoyable game. The gameplay is simple, basically a button-masher, but very pleasant at that. The graphics are pretty basic, but I didn't need any more than that, the characters look like who they are, so it's cool. The voice acting's pretty cool, but I wish the cutscenes were voiced though, instead of just during gameplay, but it was still cool. They pretty much butcher the story, but it was for the sake of making the game a bit longer, since every fight takes about two to three minutes. After a few battles, you'll probably be able to win every battle with any character against any character. Yeah, it's pretty easy, but that doesn't mean it's not fun. Well worth the five bucks.
If you can find it somewhere, most likely for a similar price rate, I'd totally recommend it.
