Osamu Mashimo - the creator of Beyblade!

For some very odd reason, TAKARA-TOMY has very recently added a page in their "products" section dedicated to the creator of Beyblade, Osamu Mashimo. He has been with Takara and then TAKARA-TOMY since April 1986.

Apparently, while we all kept saying that Beyblade just generally comes from beigoma, the old spinning tops made in metal from Japan, it actually originates from two old toylines called "Battletop" and "Suge Goma". These did not perform that well in the market, so they could have completely abandoned the idea of using spinning tops, but then Osamu Mashimo thought of customization, which is what changed everything for the existence of Beyblades.

The rest of the page is quite incomprehensible because I have no idea if they are talking about how Bakuten Shoot Beyblade did or how Metal Fight Beyblade perform now, but the text is very positive.

Also, one of the very interesting points of this new page is that, for the first time since 2005, TAKARA-TOMY is directly referring to the old Beyblades. Two special artboards will be exclusively released via having to purchase the first parts set the WBBA has released; for some reason, they are not even focusing on the latest, which are the Phantom Orion and the Big Bang Pegasis Parts Sets ... There will only be one hundred of these artboards, and there is one dedicated to all the Dragoon Beyblades, and the other is for all the Pegasis and L Drago Beyblades.

So, overall, this is really just a topic to inform you about the new page and share the new details we finally get about how the Beyblade series started. I doubt we will ever see these artboards, so we might as well forget about them already. However, what is very weird is that TAKARA-TOMY would upload such a page if they were really planning on putting Beyblade on another hiatus and admit that they failed to make it 'evergreen' like Hasbro wanted ... Therefore, in my opinion as someone who has been close to what TAKARA-TOMY has done in all these years, I think there is still much hope.
So, that's the man that started it all? I love him :3

Very cool that TAKARA-TOMY mentions the old series, and shows off the creator. I had always thought Beyblade was started by Beigoma, just like everyone else. Really nice to finally know where it came from!

Everyone stalk Y!JA, so we can find one of these boards.
Apparently the official Beyblade Facebook Page has censored another one of my accounts, so if someone can post the information there that there are new details about the origins of Beyblade here and post the link too, it would be appreciated. By the way, it seems that nobody alerted everyone there that the actual 4D Beyblades are now released in United States stores.
The Beyblade page is always a tad bit behind - by months, I mean. They don't usually post things until LONG after they're released.
I'll go spam my video link on there or something later, if I can. :p
Wow, I would like to shake that man's hand. Big respect to him.
Seems interesting a History Board of Beyblade you say? Wow I never even hear of Osamu until this topic I always assumed Aoki Takao invented the customising of spinning tops ah well you learn something new everyday

No no, I mean that there are not even Facebook users who have posted the news on the official Beyblade Facebook Page yet. Someone needs to.

Aoki Takao just drew the manga and designed the characters, which were later redesigned by D-Rights for the anime anyway. It is like those people who think that Adachi Takafumi is completely responsible for Metal Fight Beyblade.
Wow, this is a very interesting topic!
I feel like an announcement that will cause overwhelming "SQUEE" from fans is on the way...
Whoa! Art Boards sound pretty cool! Lord knows how much they'll go for later, though.

Uh, how come?
So that's the guy who stated beyblade! very cool! I would so want to battle him in a bey battle! Grin
Behold, our leader.

Wow, I honestly had no idea that Osamu Mashimo created Beyblade. Rather, I have never heard of him before. I was always led to believe Takao Aoki created Beyblade. Now, I know that Takao just created the media form of Beyblade, not the concept. I apologize for my stupidity.

Ahh, finally. I though that Takara Tomy has forgotten about the original line of Beyblades. W-w-wait. Only one Dragoon artboard? Well. I believe I had no chance in acquiring an artboard anyway. Hmph.

It makes me sad thinking about putting beyblade for evergreens
but it makes me happy cause knowing whats my hobby has such history and its not just a spinning top but before this never heard of Osamu Mashimo but now I know Smile
Hmm, good to know about this! I haven't really cared much about Beyblade's "history", but this guy created Beyblade, so he's awesome in my book!
I'd never heard of him either, but im glad we did now. He's a Genius. Thank you for making beyblade Smile
That Man is the best man in the world for creating Beyblades Smile
Wow, I really was a fool for thinking that Aoki Takao created Beyblade... Tired

Anyway, I find this very incredible. I'm surprised that he has never really been mentioned until now. We all owe him a lot for creating Beyblade. He really would be an interesting man to meet and battle.

Those artboards really would be awesome to see if they ever come out! Cute
Strange there isn't a Dranzer History as that Beyblade was the most produced Right Spin Beyblade from the original series I think it deserves a mention.
Hm I'd love to hear Osamu's opinions on the media form of Beyblade and maybe even battle him!
So he's the one that made beyblade to what it is today huh, well i guess that makes him a genius

Actually, I think it's interesting people call him a 'genius' since it wouldn't be that hard to think of the idea of customizable spinning tops. I mean, sure, I love him for what he's created, but the actual idea was pretty basic. the marketing would've been more complex. but to make beyblade the franchise it is today, yeah , he's pretty clever.
This topic has now been posted on the Beyblade facebook timeline. Didn't have a chance to get to it earlier. But its there now. Hopefully some kids will actually pay attention.
so awesome... i wonder what those other spinning top toylines he created looked liked?
is there anyway the WBO can contact him or anything and kinda get like are thought's on what we call a sport ?

We barely have any way of getting into contact with TAKARA-TOMY at all as it is.
Also no one considers beyblade a sport. It is a game.
