It seems to me that rarely is he given credit for what he really is.. a quarterback better than 16 other QBs in the league, but worse than 10 others at the same time. The Cowboys have really been a mess in one spot or another under his tender as starting QB, but based on his numbers, I really don't think he's the problem, even considering the blunders he's committed.
I don't agree. Romo has great stats, yes. I give him that. But in years when he had a decent defense, he loses key games. He's only got 1 playoff win. I'd go in a different direction and look REALLY hard at K-State's Colin Klien or Michigan's Denard Robinson, who says he can beat Usain Bolt at the 40 on grass. I believe him, given the 4.30 40 time. At 100 meters, Bolt's gone, though.
I think the NFC North's going to own the playoffs. The Bears have a good offense this year, and added nice pieces to the defense this year. The Packers are the Packers. The Lions...Well, Stafford to Johnson. That's enough to win games. And the Bears' schedule is WEAK. Outside of the division, the only major threat is...San Fran, who the Bears can hang with. The Lions are going to get better on defense, and the Pack remain the Pack.
The Bills are indeed a team on the rise. Beat Brady once this year, and they could be in 2nd in the East. Or, and don't flame me for this, for I will explain, they can WIN the division. I know, it sounds silly, but does it? What happens if Brady gets hurt? The Pats will tank. No QB on that roster can handle the NFL but Brady, and Brady's getting old. Matt Light. Gone. Solder. Not playing well. Brady can't run, and he can't slide from what he can't see. That left side is decimated. With Mario Williams gunning for Brady, the question is this: Will the Bills go back to the spread like they did in the first 5 games of last season?
Alex Tanney's a weird guy. He wasn't drafted, he played D3 ball at Monmouth, and...he's pushing Tyler Palko for a job? I think he can do it. He's got accuracy. He's got an arm. His decision making is...decent, but he's shown flashes of pure genius. That's why Pittsburgh brought him in. That's why Buffalo brought him in. And that's why the Chiefs signed him. I think he'll make the team, and Palko will get cut.
Mr. Irrelevant this year was NIU's Chandler Harnish. Had more teams needed QBs, he would have gone in the 4th round. He's a Tebow-typer with a better arm and a quick release. His only knock? He played in the MAC. Ew. The pass-happy, throw-throw-QB Run-throw MAC. And yet he led NIU, traditionally a bad team, to three straight bowl games, won the MAC, and won 2 bowl games. Averaging 4000 yards of total offense a year. He was snubbed.
The Texans plan of unveiling their project QB, Case Keenum out of Houston, soon. Not really a run guy, like most project QBs, but I believe he's been toying with their Run-'n-Shoot packages. If you don't know what that is, let me explain. The Run-'n-Shoot made Timmy Chang, Andre Ware, Colt Brennan, and David Klingler 50 TD QBs in college. Look at their pro careers. Yeah. 'Nuff said. I like Keenum, but can he read a defense. I think he can push TJ Yates for the backup spot in case Scaub gets hurt. Bottom line is, nobody but Kellen Moore produced more in college than Keenum. And Moore only gets that for the wins.
Tebow: Ew. I can't stand Tebow. Sure, he made a few big plays. But look at that D! They did all the work, and got no credit. It's just not fair. John Skelton was 6-2 with 4 OT wins. Where's HIS media circus? I don't mind the option, but...it won't work forever. He's not fast enough. Or quick enough. He's a power runner, which is BAD for a QB. The Pats killed it, the Bills killed it, and the Phins CAN stop it if they get a jump on the Jets. Timmy's in for a bad year in 2012. The AFC East isn't the West.

They don't have the talent. Matty Ice is decent, but... Outside of the offense, who'd stop a Green Bay? Or a Detroit? Or a San Fran? Or even a retooled Tampa? (I think that if the Saints can't win the South, the Bucs will. Too much offensive talent, and a damn good D this year on paper.) Or a New York? (Not the Jets.) Or a New Orleans? Those teams are either REALLY balanced (San Fran and Tampa) or will just shame the poor Falcons (Everyone else). Those are the blocks. You've got to beat those guys to win a Super Bowl...After taking on Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, or even (again, a HUGE guess) the Bills! (That's a sleeper. Not gonna happen, but it's a possibility, assuming the FA signings work out.) Or the Texans. Or the Ravens. Or the Bengals. get what I'm saying?
Also: The NFC West is no longer a little-brother division. We're looking at Sam Bradford and the Rams with new weapons. John "Mr. Clutch" Skelton and Larry Fitzgerald trying to break some records. Russel Wilson and Matt Flynn trying to secure a starting QB job, and a possible package for Wilson may be in the works. And then there's San Fran. I like Seattle to win the division, actually. Flynn has all the GB single-game records...with 1 start. The RB situation is pretty good with Marshawn Lynch. The CBs are getting better. As for the Rams, there's an 800-pond gorilla in the room. Sam. Bradford. Will he stay healthy? (Probably. He's a tough kid.) Can he throw the deep ball? (Sometimes. The air-it-out offense did him in last season, though. He's used to 5 step drops, not 7 and a hitch.) Can he complete 25 passes a game? (Definitely. He's got the talent.) Can he keep up with Smith and Flynn? (That's the biggie. Flynn's a beast, and Smith's the best game manager in the league. Skelton's not bad, either.)
