Wether the love is "real" or not dosen't always matter, depending on the age of the two people in the relationship. For example, a 17 year old boy dates a 14 year old girl. The boy is about to reach his full on maturity, and even then, his personality will be undegoing huge changes in the upcoming years because of the challenges of life, and just him deciding what he wants out of life. All the while this is happening, the girl is going to be hormonal, and going through HUGE personality changes. This causes a ton of friction in the relationship, and this isn't taking into account the extra pressure from outside sources. This would be true even if the genders were switched, and the boy was the young one.

But, let's say a 23 year old female and a 26 year old male are in a relationship, it's completely different. At that point they have both determined what they want out of life, and have matured fully. They (hopefully) are no longer living with their parents and have been on their own for a while and know what life is like. And their taste in the opposite gender won't be changing, and they know what they want in a relationship.

I would pick the older couple to last over the younger couple 10/10. No matter how "in love" the younger couple is.

I agree with you but the older one in a relationship will always have more ressources in his hands. I explain, the older one will have more experience, will do more things in his life that the younger one. I don't know if the older one accepts that the younger one is superior that him in terms of intelligence and experiencing life. I feel, for a durable relationship, that the difference of age needs to be the smallest possible. I don't want to think that the older one will suffer diseases and the younger one will, most probably, enjoy his life.

But I say this if someone want a durable relationship and not a 1-month relationship.

Anime and Manga =/= real life. I think some age difference relationships can work, but they aren't all perfect and they definitely bring about a unique set of issues to deal with, as I'm constantly learning every day.

You should watch your wording when discussing things like this. I'll admit I was a little offended by this. Yes I realize that the relationship I have is abnormal, but it almost seems like you're discarding any worth that it might have simply because it's so uncommon.

Personally I don't see the issue with age difference in relationships. As long as both partners are entering into a mutually respectful and willing relationship, are aware of the differences in their age and the friction that may cause, then there's really no cause for concern. If they can't handle it or compromise for the sake of their relationship then it will dissolve and shouldn't have happened in the first place.

What I'm saying is that it takes a lot of maturity on BOTH ends in an age-difference relationship to really make it work, and trust me, I know from a lot of first hand experience, it is a very difficult thing to do.

Correct, no matter what a person's sexuality may be, it dosen't change the fact that it's two individuals coming together in a relationship. Heck, maturity is a huge factor even if you are the same age or close to it. If there was a 15 year old who had the mind of an 18 year old, dating an 18 year old, I wouldn't count them out as fast as I would say...a stereotypical teenage girl, with an older partner. Maturity makes or breaks the relationship, because in the end, if you can't stand the way the person acts, it's just not gonna happen. And let's not even get into the "You try to change me!" arguments...thats just bound to crash and burn. lol
