We've been seeing each other since January-ish, but we aren't officially dating. So about 5 months or so.
Dragonsclaw Wrote:No, age doesn't matter at all. If you read some shoujo manga they don't care and neither do I. It's the love that counts!
Anime and Manga =/= real life. I think some age difference relationships can work, but they aren't all perfect and they definitely bring about a unique set of issues to deal with, as I'm constantly learning every day.
Beynval Wrote:Haha it is, it is still weird though. Hes 20 so his partner is like... 40? thats a huge gap.
He's 41, 42 next month. It is a huge gap, but we are so much alike and have so much in common that it's rarely an issue.
Beynval Wrote:I believe he is gay.
I am. Don't know how many times I have to post this publicly. lol

You should watch your wording when discussing things like this. I'll admit I was a little offended by this. Yes I realize that the relationship I have is abnormal, but it almost seems like you're discarding any worth that it might have simply because it's so uncommon.
Personally I don't see the issue with age difference in relationships. As long as both partners are entering into a mutually respectful and willing relationship, are aware of the differences in their age and the friction that may cause, then there's really no cause for concern. If they can't handle it or compromise for the sake of their relationship then it will dissolve and shouldn't have happened in the first place.
What I'm saying is that it takes a lot of maturity on BOTH ends in an age-difference relationship to really make it work, and trust me, I know from a lot of first hand experience, it is a
very difficult thing to do.
