In School

Your right that makes sense but i mean in australia year 9 is nothing at all kids fool around in year 9 so i think it should be given to year 10s because its like when the really important years start and like your big exams come up at the end of the year. But yeah maybe year 12 is too late.
josh-jf, what year are you in?

Help! Theres SATS in 2 Weeks ;(

It's alright, they're easy! Grin
Well I found them easy anyway, especialy the Science one :\

I got a lvl 5 in Science and English, and a lvl 4 in maths.
Proxies are the newbie way to go about it.

When you turn on the PC, when it's loading in DOS, F12 or F10 depending on your computer setup and safemode if they have master password off, or utility partition and F2 for command prompt. Then just enter whatever commands you want, i.e. making yourself admin.

Either way, I wouldn't advise doing any of these things, the teachers catch on pretty quickly and if one of them sees you doing it in class that can figure out what you're doing then you're busted. (happened to me. =/)

High school or middle school SATs? Middle school SATs are so easy, I just got level 5s across the board, but High School ones are where it starts to get tricky.

Pretty sure they've stopped High School SATs now though anyways.
I don't think I've ever needed to turn on a computer at my school. They're always on. XD

Me and my mate did find one that had been left so that here were no restrictions though. We had fun changing passwords, apperances, desktops, downloading carp and then hacking into come other student and program files. Before we got caught. XD Elaine (computer technician who everyone is carp scared of) was kinda pissed but I think she was vaguely impressed that we'd go against her and we got to keep our new passwords as a sort of memento. XD

Anyways, how exactly do you enter the commands? We're talking about the black window with the white writing that kinda controls everything right? I imagine there's a certain way to write it. Don't worry about the teachers, they're all idiots apart from Elaine. We even have one who is probably 40-something who calls it 'the technology' and can't format word properly. Those lessons are painful.....Pinching_eyes_2

All SATS are easy (though they have stopped Year 9 ones now). I'd say it was GCSEs that were hard but I imagine they'll actually be reasonably easy as well. It's just the overwhelming stress that makes them seem so horrible.

Just tried it, it's blocked at my school. :[

For a reason. If you're really desparate to get them unblocked, go about it the right way and ask your IT technician about it. It's never good if you get caught doing stuff you shouldn't.

Wow, your IT techncian is safe. Ours is dumb, he does everything by the book he learned from so he doesn't know shortcuts or how programs could conflict etc. because it wasn't in the book he learned from on his IT course. -.-

To find lists of commands just google it. I learned most of them from an old DOS booklet for our computer we first bought when I was like four. All I could ever do was type "run asteroids.exe" or "CD DUncertain/" to change to the floppy drive directory when I was that young. Good times.

I'm pretty sure every school has at least one dumb IT teacher. Our one wrote things like this "hELLO" when she wrote things out on the board. We figure she'd had caps lock turned on for so long on her laptop she sort of assumed that's how you're meant to write stuff to do with IT. It sounds crazy but it was true. We corrected her after a couple of lessons... o.O

The reason being they don't want us to have fun? Out IT people/the learning governement thing never unblocks anything. Even the sites that we actually need for work. =_=

I'm asuuming he wouldn't be able to if he's at school. Proxy Listing sites are normally blocked too. =P

Awesome thanks.

And lol, that's hilarious. We only have two IT teachers, one that I've never had before and Mrs. Miles who I did have and who turned up to lessons hungover. She came in and told us "Shut up! You're so looooouuuud!" when we weren't saying anything. She then proceded to trip over a chair and blame Ruth for it. And give us evil glares all lesson. Good times, good times. ^^;

They block the sites you need for work? You should tell your technician or whoever is in charge of that aspect of the network. o.O

Can't google stuff at school? Ouch. At school people sometimes bring memory sticks with shockwave file games on to play where I go, and tons of people now have MSN because they have blackberry phones and stuff so people are on that a lot. =]

Lol, hungover teachers. We have one in our music department that scares us. She is SO unpredictable. Some days she's like "Hi Freddie!" yet the next day she'll yell at me to get out of her way or pretend she doesn't know who I am. I'm wondering if she's schitzophrenic (sp?)

The kinda sites it'd be really useful to be able to go on but they have some other function like a chatroom or they're just not school friendly or something dumb like that. I doubt they'll get unblocked.

Lmao, you can google stuff. It's just that if you google 'proxy sites', all the links will be blocked. XD

Yeah, we have some unpredictable teachers with short tempers and such. Schizophrenia is when you hear voices and have hallucinations and such though. You mean multiple personality disorder. Wink
You can't use USB Keys at ours Unhappy

They use websense to block stuff at our school. A couple of the more silly "reasons" I see are that the sites have been blocked for:

"resource sharing" <--- isn't this what the internet IS FOR? o.O

"tasteless/illegal/questionable" Okay, you can question anything, tasteless in an OPINION not a fact! I may agree with the illegal one, but shouldn't the site be taken down entirely or the webmaster sanctioned by the police if the website is illegal? =/

Quote:You can't use USB Keys at ours

How come? o.O
I had Stepmania in my documents for ages. That was fun. XD But then I had to delete it because I had too many files on my account. Can you believe we're only allowed 500mbs each? You can get more than that on a £5 memory stick. It's madness. I've got like 900mb and I'm always getting told to get rid of some files but it's all coursework. *sigh*

Oh, our reasons are cooler than that. It normally says stuff like 'pornography' or 'criminal skills site'. Even when it's not. XD
(Apr. 23, 2009  7:32 PM)Rocky Wrote: Can you believe we're only allowed 500mbs each?

We get 30MB at our school.

Although I usually just bypass it in certain ways so that I can go beyond 100% usage. I'm at a few thousand percent now if I remember right. I aim to get over 9000% at some point just so I can say that it's over nine thousand. =]

This is BEYBLADE! Dumb Rimshot
Ugh, 30mb? That's crazy. My DT coursework alone is 10 times that big. D:
Were only allowed up to 3 files. I just put them in ZIP files :p
Mines around 12omb, I always fill it up will a mass scale of Photoshop files XD
