Hasbro rakes in Q2 profits

"New York - Transformers aren't just titans at the box office; they're flying off to shelves too. Toymaker Hasbro said Monday that strong sales of the robots helped its second-quarter profit rise past analyst expectations. Profit for the three months ended June 28 rose to $39.3 million, or 26 cents per share, from $37.5 million, or 25 cents per share, last year."

And on the side there is a picture of a transformer toy, and a caption reads:

"Hasbro's Transformers Arm Blaster. Toy maker Hasbro said Monday that its second quarter profit rose 5 percent, beating expectations."

What's good for Hasbro is Good for us, no? It's good that the company that will be reproducing MFB is doing well. Any ways, I thought it was interesting.

I don't see how this relates at all to Beyblade. Hasbro doing well isn't exactly shocking considering the licenses they have.

If the toy maker is doing even better than what they have already predicted, as you've stated their success already, then this is good news for any products being released by Hasbro. What if they were doing this much worse? They might not have the money then to invest in the MFB. Any ways, it shouldn't neccesarily be a big deal, it's just some good news, that is all.

MFB won't be released by Hasbro for a year so even if they hit a rough spot now, they have time to recover. If this same report was made a year from now, it'd have more immediate impact on MFB.

Correct. I don't mind knowing that Hasbro is doing well, but I don't think they will have a rough time...ever. Kids love toys, period, and they will always be around to beg their parents for them. It's a vicious cycle. But really, even if Hasbro had a rough time prior to MFB, I would think that they would still put all they had into MFB, because it's connected to a TV show that will be broadcasting straight to their demographic...it would actually be exactly what they need to come OUT of a rough spot. So I have no worries on the subject.

Anyway, back on topic since you guys, especially Bey Brad, are going off on a tangent (which is not setting a good example at all). This article does have some relevence to MFB. Why? Because it has the potential to become even more popular than current toylines such as Transformers (and more than it was before) so the figures shown here could skyrocket in 2010 and blow everything else out of the water. Beyblade has done that once before so there is no reason why it won't done so again. It's taken Japan by storm after all. I can't wait to see what impact it has here in the West! All I know is that it's going to be epic.

Anyway, back on topic since you guys, especially Bey Brad, are going off on a tangent (which is not setting a good example at all).

My point was that there was no point in making hypotheticals. That's not the world we live in. The licensing of Beyblade has already been confirmed and the project most certainly will not be dropped as localization has already begun. So yes, it could be bad if somehow Hasbro had an absolutely disastrous quarter, but they were nowhere even close to that and never will be in the foreseeable future unless they release a Transformer that transforms from a car into a flesh-eating virus. I don't think anyone is shocked that Transformers sales rose during the release of a Transformers movie.

This topic is only related to the Beyblade in the loosest sense; they're made by the same company.

It is hard to tell whether somebody is joking online since there is no tone or facial expressions to give this away, regardless of the context. I was merely disappointed that a well-known Beyblade webmaster and mod such as yourself could post irrevelent points. I do not think any less of you even though you implied the opposite in the above post.

Perhaps you are right about the company's prosperity as of late but I agree with UnknownGod. In this economic climate, that could change. Although we hope it won't! Anyhow, MFB is set to be popular whatever happens and I hope it does outdo products like Transformers in profits and popularity as the better toy. After all, isn't this what we as Beybladers and Beyblade fans want? To have Beyblade as the 'in' product and hobby again?

The recession is bad, but it is not going to cause a generally successful toy company to grind to a halt for no reason. As long as kids exist, toys will sell.

Also, I don't really care if Beyblade sells more than Transformers ... simply that it sells.

Actually, it would be nice to be able find them in stock anywhere, so I wouldn't mind too much if sales in Japan slowed down.

Beyblade is not going to outsell one of the best selling toy franchises of all time. Nor does it have to. GI Joe hasn't been relevant for some time in the mainstream world yet Hasbro still pumps out the figures because they still sell well.

Yeah, and then it completely dropped off the face of the map, and was discontinued. Conversely, the Transformers brand has had new toys released every single year since launch in 1984. Even in years where there was no TV show to back up the toyline.
