HIGH PARK THROWDOWN
High Park (map) - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Sunday, July 19th, 2009 - 1PM
(originally slated for Saturday, July 18th)
MFB FORMAT

Calling all Toronto area Bladers! Come join Khel, Blue, and I as we host the first Beyblade tournament in Toronto in years (outside of Anime North haha)! Keep checking back here for more details as they become available!

We're hoping that we can create some sort of Toronto Beyclub, with HPT being the first event. Assuming we have enough attendees, this will be an official WBO tournament, so make sure to get your Blader Passport if you haven't done so already! And of course, we'll do some ranked and free battles in between everything. Oh, and there will be some prizes!

If you're interested, please let us know here so we can start building an attendance list. Hope to see you there!

Location:

If you think there is a possibility of you getting lost or anything else coming up, PM Khel right now to get his cell number.

Yeah, i'm thinking of getting flat sharp...
Was someone using FS?
Kei. He used it against me in our second last battle. I used libra unfortunately...

But you beat him Speechless
I free battled with it. pretty sick
yeah. It was the semi finals. me, Kei, Khel and Minion. You faced everyone once. Whoever had the best score would win. I had 2 wins and 1 loss. So did Kei. He made a Leon 105F before the matche started and i just used my libra hoping he would use an attack. I beat him there.
Placings

1) kool-kid9980
2)Kei
3)me
4)Minion

Good times overall. This was again a serious stamina fest though. Tried using RF once and it backfired. Strange cause when I used it 3-4 days before it worked fine. Oh well kool-kid played a good game Smile
lol stamina-fest

you're lucky i wasn't there
That was a really good turn out guys Smile I was expecting just 9 people, but 12 was sweet! I'm pretty happy with placing 4th, I really need to order some new tops though, I keep getting beaten by the same combo's. I don't have any defensive tips, just lots of ball tips... I'm hoping to trade some parts @ the flower city summit tourney. I bought two boosters off Kei and got Clay Wolf 105B and Heat Leone D125FS. Light wheels are silly.

I hope everyone can make it out again soon. As a suggestion- There is an awesome park at Dufferin station, which is right across from a mall with a ToysRus, and a Wal-Mart. When Hasbro releases tops over here, that park would be ideal for tournaments, as we could buy our tops across the street Tongue_out It's also a little closer to downtown, so it's a bit quicker to get to than High Park.

And yeah, that sounds like Double Elimination. I hope you guys had a lot of people, because you're only supposed to use DE if you have like over twenty people.

... Chief 2002 - Sigh ...

Kool-Kid kept busting out that darn Libra custom on me! hahaha; I used Storm Cancer 100RF in our first match in the Attack Stadium and he beat me 3-1 w/one tie. Our second match occurred in the round robin to determine the final matchups and I thankfully chose my Virgo custom and took that match 3-1 (in the Attack Stadium again). The finals were in the Balance stadium, and after just defeating his Libra custom, I guessed that he would try a Stamina custom and as a result, I took a huge risk and brought out Leone 105WB (not F, as Kool-Kid was saying) because with WB, it has some decent Stamina, movement, and during my tests, I was usually able to KO Stamina customs with some consistency. Unfortunately, he chose the Libra custom again (lol) and took the match 3-0 w/two ties. Fun matches. Grin

We just did round robin. Two pools of 6 Bladers, top two from each pool moved on to the top four. We had a three-way tie for second in Pool B (To, DynamicUno, Minion), so we were forced to have a mini-round robin between them to determine the final spot in the top four.

Top four then had a round robin; top two moved onto first/second place match, bottom two to the third/fourth place match.

You tricked me! I thought you were going to pull out a Stamina custom after I beat you in the previous match. Or maybe I was just over thinking the situation ahahaha (and as a I mentioned above, it was Leone 105WB; probably should have used a higher track. Leone 105F was a custom I was playing around with before the tournament).

(Jul. 19, 2009  10:33 PM)Bey Brad Wrote: Why almost no Attack-types ...

There was quite a few Attack-types, just barely any RF. Aside from my first match, there was never any situations that called for it to be used for me. Most matches, I saw what my opponent was going to use and was able to counter it without an RF custom.

It did become a Stamina-fest towards the end though lol

Yeah, something like that. Just need to get all of the footage and I'll get started on editing.

I was actually using D. Someone else was using FS though.

You thought I would use an Attack-type in Balance?! Well, Leone 105WB is kind of a pseudo-Attacker; using RF (or maybe even F, never really tried it in Balance) is suicide in the Balance stadium.

We actually only had 7 until you guys came a little bit after 1pm.

Sounds cool to me, lets keep this in mind for the future!

Thanks to everyone who came out! I had a lot of fun! We'll definitely be doing this again. Smile

Nothing official yet, but we are probably going to get something organized for FanExpo next month. Smile
get a bigger SD card
Yeah I just looked it up lol, Duffrin Grove Park Smile good suggestion

I don't think theres anything to be embarrassed of, Cool kid was just and unknown going in, like Ozuma as Mr. X LOL (btw your dad was not too annoyed, was he?)
Oh no. Please my dad is ALWAYS like that. Anything that bores him wants to get it over fast. He said sorry to me after. He just had a really, REALLY long day yesterday. Thanks for hosting this guys!
might as well get this out of the way.

Video footage from my camera was garbage. Like G.A.R.B.A.G.E.

First of when I tried to transfer the video to Kei's mac there was an error. This error has now corrupted that card and it needs to be reformatted. Nothing can be salvaged

The second SD card only had two matches. One was me vs. Minion. That turned out OK but was really long. Second was the final which the camera was not even pointed at the right freakin stadium.

This was a complete messup from our part. There is video footage on both Kei's and Blue's camera, and it might be enough. I can upload that one battle, but it's up to you guys. Literally is minutes of us all having an inane conversation as we wait for two stamina blades to finish their battles. While fun inane conversations it's not exactly thrilling video matter.

Sorry.......
D'oh. Unhappy

btw, who has the money from this?
both me and Kei. I got like 3 passport and 1 entry fee. Kei should have the rest.

EDIT: What also ticks me off is that the battle footage I have is really clear. HD makes a huge difference. I need a bigger SD card....
Man, this really sucks. Unhappy I got an 8GB class 6 card for like $30.
yeah, I know they are cheap. However it's not my camera, it's my parents. So for most of the year I'm using my average camera which doesn't shoot very good video. They haven't felt a need to upgrade, and I didn't feel like buying a bigger SD card for a camera which I will only use for like 1 1/2 months more.
I was goning to bring a 16GB SDHC Class 4 for the tourney, but I kind of forgot to reformat the card, and ended up forgetting it anyways, sorry.

If we go to Dufferin Grove I'll bring it. Note: Dufferin Grove is literally a jog away from my house. Only getting closer, lmao.
The amount of members in brampton are growing, we have around 4 [is ransack still active?] Once we get going, i'd like to host a few events myself, lol

Don't think i could make dufferin park, unless i could bus there. Parents refuse to drive me to another 'bucktop' gathering. all nonsense to them. In the future i'd probably rent out To's place and steal his food.
Bucktop? Wut!?

Anyway, why don't you just take TTC?
Dufferin Grove is exactly across the street from Dufferin Mall which is a small walk from Dufferin Station. If we were to have a Tourney there I'd have no problem staying at Dufferin Station helping people get there.
