However I do not want this turning into a pointless argument about a game. So I will cut my side of this argument here.

Oh that was like 6 years ago
look at african cup 1992

I just downloaded this iphone app for the world cup and it doesent show him on the roster for england. hmmm
The squad hasn't been selected yet and wont be for a few months.
Ahh okay that explains it.
Just to bring over my debate with SK, I think that Messi is the best player on a football pitch at the moment and thoroughly deserves to be in that position. However a point to be aware of is that because football was so less well regulated it often made it harder for the striker to score. If Messi played in the 50's game he would not last 5 minutes without having to go off because his ankle had been hacked away at.

And just because The defense was poorly organised does not mean that the attack was well organised. And even at the end of his career i don't think he'll be even close to 626 goals. And all of those things that you posted that people have written about Messi are almost rendered meaningless. I could easily find the same number referring to Pelé.

It is hard to measure who is the best footballer and this will be my last post on the matter and at the end of the day I don't really want to argue. I think we should just enjoy watching the beautiful game, so this will be the last time I post about it. And once again, just because I perceive Pelé to be a better footballer than Messi, does not by any stretch mean that I think that Messi is a poor one.
I realize you're not saying Messi is a bad player lol, but I still think he's better than Pele. I think Messi would do just as good,if not better, in 50's football. Players try to hack away at him every week (you don't watch spanish league do you? Teams like Malaga and Almeira come to Camp Nou only looking to put Messi out of the game), but he's too fast for them. The way he moves with the ball is probably the closest any human ever has come to defying gravity.

I think Messi will be close to 600 goals by the end of his career. His goal ratio this season is (a little below) 1 goal for every game. if he continues to play for 13-15 more seasons, and keeps this up, he can easily go past Pele (if he does it will be more impressive than Pele's record, considering the opposition he plays against everyday, compared to the opposition Pele played against in Brazilian league) He already has over 100 goals + he has scored 28 goals in Barca's past 24 games

Btw I'm not t he only one who thinks Messi is the best ever, my dad, who's been following football for 40+ years, says he's never seen anyone close to Messi (because seriously, I doubt that you or I are old enough to have witnessed Pele at his best, so our opinions, which comes off youtube clips, are not really justified lol)
messi and pele are both fantastic players
but pele is a legend
messi is a pro pele is a legend

If he had been born at the time of Pele or Diego Maradona, his waif’s physique would have stood no chance of survival against assassins such as the Portugal posse in the 1966 World Cup or Andoni Goicoechea, the Butcher of Bilbao, whose brand of ankle-crushing tackle from behind was outlawed in the early 1990s while Messi, aged five, was obtaining his first experience of organised football with a team coached by his father in Rosario, Argentina
this is also backed up by my grand father who went to see him play

Point taken actually.

Either way Messi is a star player and amazing to watch, the hat-trick against Arsenal was phenomenal.
Juventus!
Platini than Zidane and now Alessandro Del Piero
Late but wth: congrats to Newcastle and WBA.

Woot Forest are confirmed playoffs.
sk, did you see pedro's goal just now? sick, ridiculous technique

yeah i saw it, was amazing
henry was useless as usual (for the 15 mins he played), bojan now has 4 goals in the last 3 league games he's played Cool

btw spain's manager is blind if he doesn't call up Valdes for the world cup squad. imo he's been the worlds best keeper this season..Pedro could possibly have a chance for the wc squad too, if he keeps on performing good in the remaining games

Such a terrible season.
Oh yeah I forgot about that couple of hundred million down the back of the sofa. In all seriousness I hope Liverpool picks up next season it's a shame to see such a great club doing so poorly. Rafael Benitez fault?
Aquilani hasn't replaced Xabi Alonso adequately enough; we're struggling to break down teams.

Sincerely hope we don't do a Newcastle, or worse, a Leeds.
can i laugh at you now?

Seriously from a neutral it makes me quite happy to see things have finally been shaken up a lot. I do hope you don't go bankrupt/get relegated though.
Inter Barcellona 3-1
go italy!forza Italia !
Wink
Beat me, only the first leg but no heroics from Messi this time. I don't know if you can pull it back SK, great match though.
where has sk gone
Chelsea FTW Wink

We have to win it this year, can't believe we lost to Tottenham >Unhappy. We do play liverpool in 2 weeks, but their only real attack force is Gerrard, and Torres is out for the season now so we should win for sure.
