The tools are on the arms. That means they're elevated. B-dama aren't meant to bounce. That means they can't reach the tools. Plus you'd be gripping the b-daman, so your hand would interfere.
They don't have to bounce. The tools are tight enough to stay on the B-daman, but loose enough to get knocked off if you hit the B-daman in the foot. Also, there are some ways of gripping the B-daman. A two finger grip on the head part, a One Sided Grip on the B-daman's core.
