I was really impressed by the graphics and art direction. Aesthetically the game looks great.
The gameplay, however, I'm really not sold on right now. I don't know enough about it to really make a fair judgment, and I realize that Rare had to do something to differentiate Banjo from all of the other mascot platformers out there right now, but I'm not sure the vehicle customization was the right way to go about doing that.
Banjo has always been a character driven
platforming game, and that, at least from the footage I've seen, seems to have been lost amongst the developers at Rare.
But who knows, this could turn out to be really cool. I'm not hating on the game, just staying cautiously optimistic in case carp goes sour, because Rare has yet to prove their worth to Microsoft since their purchase (Well, Viva Pinata was
almost a redemption, but it flopped hardcore at retail), or the gaming public in general, for that matter.
