GFX Guidelines [Rough Draft]
Welcome to the unofficial WBO GFX Guidelines. I basically just want to detail some things that in my opinion should be upheld. Most of the things here is not stuff I just came up with, these types of rules have been used on most GFX Forums. If you have anything to add or want something changed please comment below or PM me.
Feedback/Constructive Criticism
Feedback and CnC are huge parts of any gfx communities because they can help shape artists and refine their skills. When commenting on another persons work replies such as "Nice job", "I don't like it", and "It's okay" can and should be considered SPAM. Tell people exactly what you do or do not like about their piece.
Another good rule of thumb should be can be to strive to have a solution if you're going to point out a problem. Obviously you don't have to do this, but you should try and give the person a head start to fixing the problems in you see in their piece.
In the same regards the artists should listen to what other people say. No one is trying to say you have to obey every demand, but a collective understanding of all the advice you've been given will help you greatly.
GFX Teams
Yes, I realize there is already a "GFX Teams" thread. However! I don't feel it does what it's supposed to do, so that's why we have a section here for it as well.
The point of GFX teams are to learn as a group. In a group you watch your team members advance with you as you complete challenges like Team Battles and face off head to head with other members in the Community.
No team can be considered official until it's reached 3 members. Once official, even if there is only 1 person left in the team it's still official. The most amount of members in a team is 3.
If you're making a thread for your GFX Team you must include at least the following.
- Team Name
- Short Description
- Members
- Banner (recommended/optional)
- Userbar (recommended/optional)
- Upcoming Battles and Battle Record
-Ex. Team X vs. Team Z (9 - 6) WIN. So display what team you battled, the votes, and if you won or lost.
-Soon I will also be handing out "Battle Awards" to winners
GFX Battles
User Battles
User battles are GFX battles where several or just a few members can see who can come on top with the best piece decided by the community with a poll.
If you're going to start a GFX battle you must do these things!
1 thread for Discussion and Entries, and another thread for the poll/voting!
Discussion/Entry Thread Layout:
Challenging: [Specific user, Anyone, First 5 entries]
Theme: [Grunge, Cute, Freestyle, Anime]
Type: [Large Art(illustrations, drawings), Small Art(avatars, sigs)
Max Size: [Canvas size that can not be surpassed]
Due Date: [When entries must be posted in the thread by]
Anonymous: [If the battle is anonymous you must PM your entries to the thread maker so no one knows what yours looks like. You will be disqualified if you openly post your entry]
Participants Entered: [Your team name and the 3 members battling, also include any other teams name and their members who are battling once they've accepted your challenge]
To keep things fair no team member can be excluded from more than 2 team battles in a row
Voting Thread:
Show all entries and give all a name.
If the battle is anonymous then name them Entry 1, Entry 2, etc...
Define how to win. For example first to 5 votes, or most votes after 2 days.
Rules:
If you vote for yourself you're out
If you enter in a piece that you made previous to the battle
If your piece involves any racist, mean, or derogatory statements
Team battles
Team battles are when 2 or more GFX Teams duke it out with 3 of their teams members!
Unlike the User battles Team battles have a discussion thread and a voting thread, no entry thread. All team battles need a moderator. Now, you might be asking what I mean by this, I don't mean a forum moderator. One person, doesn't matter who that is agree'd upon by both teams will receive all the entries and will be the person who makes the Voting thread. Since you're entering as a team and not one by one you cannot simply add your entry in a thread, it must all come together at once. Here are some things you must do when you're making a Team battle.
Discussion thread layout:
Challenging: [Specific Team(s)]
Theme: [This must be freestyle unless another theme is mutually agreed upon by both teams]
Max Size: There cannot be a max size
Due Date: [When all entries must be PM'd to the battle moderator]
Voting thread layout:
Moderator must organize all the entries by team and create a poll where users can vote for the team they think did the best as a whole.
The Moderator must also decide with the teams what it will take to win, like 10 votes wins, or most votes after a few days.
All team battle records will be place in a Team Battle History thread I will be making.
Soon when I release "Battle Awards" teams can actually take home a unique emblem for winning
Battle Awards
Battle Awards will be good looking emblems that can be seen as trophies, made specifically for winning users/teams. Coming Soon
