Energy Layer - Orb Egis

Orb Egis (オーブイージス, Ōbu Ījisu) is an Energy Layer released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Cho-Z Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the BG-10 Random Layer Collection Vol. 10 in September 2018 and was later released in the B-128 Cho-Z Customize Set on November 17th, 2018.

Description:
Orb Egis is a round defense type layer with metal around the edges.
In the middle there is the design of “Egis” and there are two free-spinning metal balls on the top and bottom of the layer. On the sides, there are two stationary plastic balls surrounded by metal, and that metal is all around the sides of the layer, then covered by plastic on the contact points.
While the shape might seem recoil-inducing, the shape is actually very round and the gaps are not enough to create sizable recoil and the layer features tall teeth, increasing burst resistance. As with all Cho-Z layers, they are unbalanced, but as there is no metal at the area of imbalance, it is not unbalanced, further increasing it’s burst resistance and stamina. The outer metal creates high Outward Weight Distribution and the metal balls increase Life-After-Death, the round shape included makes it’s stamina close to high stamina layers like Archer Hercules and Crash Ragnaruk with good teeth to compensate for the increased burst risk from the OWD.

Use in Defense Combinations:
Orb Egis can be paired with the disk 0/4/5/7/10/Outer/Wheel/Sting because the combination will benefit from the heavy weight  of 0/4/5/7/10/Outer/Wheel/Sting disk and the high stamina of the
4/5/7/10/Outer/Wheel/Sting and paired with the disk frame Cross/Glaive/Star for high Life-After-Death and paired with the drivers Atomic/Orbit/Orbit Metal/Weight because of the high stamina and Life-After-Death of Atomic/Orbit/Orbit Metal and the heavy weight of Orbit Metal/Weight combined with the heavy weight of Orb Egis and the 0/4/5/7/10/Outer/Wheel/Sting will increase Knock-Out Resistance and Bursts.

Use in Stamina Combinations:
Orb Egis can be paired with the disk 0/4/5/7/10/Outer/Wheel/Sting and the disk frame Cross/Glaive/Star. The round shape and the high OWD of Orb Egis will pair with the high stamina of 4/5/7/10/Wheel/Outer and the heavy weight of 0/4/5/7/10/Wheel/Outer/Sting will increase it’s knock-out resistance, while the frames Cross/Glaive/Star will increase spin time. It can then be paired with the driver Atomic/Orbit/Revolve/Eternal/Bearing/Rise to have great stamina from Atomic/Orbit/Revolve/Eternal/Bearing/Rise and Life-After-Death from Atomic/Orbit/Eternal/Bearing/Rise.

Overall:
Orb Egis's round shape, high OWD, and Life-After-Death makes it a key part in defense-type combos.
As such, it is a must have for competitive bladers.

The inclusion of metal makes this Layer heavier than most God Layers. Orb Egis also features a gimmick, the metal balls are free spin for defense .

In theory, the free-spinning metal balls will parry oncoming hits by moving with the opponent's Layer and reduce recoil, but not very much due to the size, but shield like appearance layer will help the defense ability act with the balls.

Like many other Cho-Z Layers, Orb Egis is unbalanced, which increases Burst risk and drains Stamina. However, these issues can be solved with the use of a Level Chip that fits underneath the Layer.

Orb Egis also features a gimmick, the gimmick being two free-spinning metal balls designed to reduce impact upon contact with another layer.

In theory, the free-spinning metal balls will parry oncoming hits by moving with the opponent's Layer and reduce recoil, but its usefulness is very reduced due to the small size of the ball. This factor can be redeemed by the shield-like shape of the layer improving the chance of contact.

The metal lined around the edge of the layer creates OWD, which increases spin retention and stamina, at the cost of increased teeth skipping and bursts, but the heavy weight of the layer, strong teeth, and round shape can compensate, unlike Crash Ragnarok.

Like many other Cho-Z Layers,  Orb Egis is unbalanced, which increases Burst risk and drains Stamina. However, these issues can be solved with the use of a Level Chip that fits underneath the Layer.
