Prominence (プロミネンス, Purominensu) is a Bladereleased by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dynamite Battle Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-191 Overdrive Special Starter Set on October 2nd, 2021.
==Description==
Prominence, like its predecessors Revive/Dead/Perfect Phoenix, is a defense type blade with a 4 bladed outer perimeter. As part of the Dynamite Battle Layer System, it can accommodate both the high and Low modes of DB Core and armor combinations, and features a gimmick to burst twice.
To Burst twice, the four bladed outer perimeter making up the wings, known as the Prominence Shield is attached to the rest of the Layer by a mechanism independent of the Layer-Performance Tip locking mechanism, unlike its predecessors, but it can still parry impacts with the opponent akin to Tornado Wyvern's free-spinning Layer. However, the loss of the Prominence Shield makes the Layer much lighter, and Prominence lacks its predecessors smooth perimeter, only having 4 small blades that form a recoil inducing square shape.
On the plus side, by changing the alignment of the Prominence Shield, it can be changed into Heavy Mode, where the attachment is much harder to knock off. This makes it able to withstand attacks from foes longer. The Normal Setting is better for countering attack types by messing with their performance tip, while Heavy is better for dealing with Stamina types to try and out-spin them with its round shape hindering spin equalisation. On both modes, the Shield creates an incredibly round and thick perimeter capable of parrying hits and reducing recoil.
The shield is meant to be a hazard for the foes by interfering with the opponents’ tip, but unlike its predecessors, it lacks metal, making it easily flung away by heavier combinations.
Prominence has very poor stamina compared to its predecessors due to its more spread out weight distribution, and lack of metal from its predecessors, only able to outspin Attack combinations due to the latter’s generally lower stamina, but it is capable of taking down opposite spin combinations due to its shape with the shield equipped.
==Use in Stamina combinations==
Prominence can be used in the stamina combination Prominence Phoenix/Belial I/Belial II/Spriggan Tapered Bearing'-10/0. The tough teeth of the aforementioned cores, as well as Belial II’s burst stopper, can reduce recoil taken after losing its armor, while Tapered’s Low lying nature and the aforementioned armor weight distribution allows Bearing' to bolster Prominence’s poor stamina and allow it to outspin both same and opposite spin opponents.
==Use in Defense combinations==
Prominence can be used in the Defense combination Prominence Phoenix/Belial I/Belial II/Spriggan Giga/Over Drift/Moment-10/0. The tough teeth of the aforementioned cores, as well as Belial II’s burst stopper, can reduce recoil taken after losing its armor, while the heavy weight of Giga/Over plus Drift's plate/Moment's hemisphere helps it resist getting knocked back by opposing attack types.
==Overall==
While not as good for defensive uses as its predecessors, Prominence’s working gimmick and low recoil design, makes it a top-tier choice for countering Opposite Spin Combinations.
As such, Takara Tomy's Prominence is a must have for competitive bladers.
