Starlight Road is more versatile and doesn't have anywhere near as much of a cost. Plus, it nets you a free Stardust Dragon to use against further destruction.

I hate the fact that people are ditching Starlight this format only because Heavy Storm is going to be banned. There are still going to be a lot of destruction cards (Torrential, Dark Hole, Mirror Force will probably see more play, Black Rose Dragon, Celestia, Judgment Dragon [if LS make a come back at the start of the format], Gyzarus [GBs are going to be everywhere, and since it seems Prisma builds are the big hype, you can bet on a lot of Gyzarus plays], Icarus Attack [despite BWs losing Whirlwind and Oppression, I'm willing to bet you will still see some rogue Blackwing decks], etc. etc.).

Starlight has way more utility and nets you even more advantage. I've never liked My Body as a Shield, it's entirely too situational.

I actually think Starlight Road is more situational than MBaaS. MBaaS works against all types of monster destruction, and with many people considering maining Trap Stun next format, MBaaS plays around it. On the other hand, Starlight Road is definitely more advantageous if it is allowed to go through, and with all of those mass monster destruction cards, it's not that hard to activate. I might actually main both. I'll save SR for the mass destruction and MBaaS for cards such as Bottomless Trap Hole.

Well technically you could use starlight on bottomless. Because if you were to some how bring out two monsters off an effect and someone used bottomless it would hit both monsters but i like to think starlight for like mirror force and torrential. I am probably going to main at least 1 my body. What do you guys think about respites in prisma glads?
The only situation where I summoned two monsters with an ATK greater than 1500 was when I went double Samnite with Rescue Cat. Although that won't be able to happen anymore come September, it would only happen when I knew that I could attack successfully. Well, Gyzarus and Secutor both SS 2 monsters as well, but I never lost them both to a lone Bottomless...

I've never tried Respite. I like keeping my card count to 40, so I probably won't be trying it out anytime soon.
I used to hate Respite, but after having made a Respite build and crushing people with it, I swear by the card.

I don't think I could ever play GBs without it now.
Ya it really is a good card and i remember using it awhile ago and everyone said it sucked. It recycles sub-par hands and is a +1
Quick question about spells

First off, i use a lot of continuous cards, traps and spells alike, so when i heard about a card called 'Double Cyclone' being able to whipe out one spell/trap on both side of the field at the same time, i thought i mist consider it

now i do have a Mystical Space typhoon and a Tornado

My question is should i stick with tornado or switch it out for Double Cyclone?

effects:
Tornado may only be activated if foe has 3 or more spells/traps and i can destroy one of their spells/traps
Double Cyclone says to select one spell/trap on my side and one sell/trap on foe's side and destroy the selected cards.

now with my deck i have a lot of continuous cards, so sometimes i fill up to fast...and sometime their beneficial effects can backfire, D-Cyc as a result interested me as away of countering my backfire from my Continuouses and still taking out one spell/trap of the foe's

Double Cyclone mang. You can burn a card you don't need very much to kill another.

A +1 means gaining a card advantage in some way. Using Respite recycles two cards, and you draw three. You trade 3 cards for 3 new ones.

Anyways, I drew a few hands with a 42 card GB deck with 1 less Spell Card and 3 proxy Respites, and it's not something that I really like. Playing with Respite takes adjusting, and the times where I draw Respite, I would have definitely preferred to have drawn a Spell or Trap that would be more useful in that situation. It would help whenever I drew Secutor, Retiari, or Murmillo though, but Test Tiger remedies that problem.
i cant wait till i get enough money for gemini deck staples, especially Black Brutdrago from some boosters. wish me luck!

I don't understand why you're under the impression that running a Respite build requires that you play 42 cards.

That's trash, you should never play more than 40 cards if you can avoid it, unless you're playing Lightsworn or something like that. 41 can be acceptable, but 42 is just... No. Just no. In my most recent build I'm playing 40 cards with 2 Prisma and 2 Respite and I've found that it works really well.

Anyway, I went to my last local tournament today before the new format starts and I went undefeated (5-0) with Infernity to win the tournament. It felt really good to give the deck a proper send off before it gets nerfed by the ban list on Wednesday.

EDIT: Just checked the lists, and man i was lucky the changes didnt hurt me at all, instead they powered me up, i finally get to dust off my spare typhoons and my Reborn.

but waht i'm happy about is: Forbidding of Heavy storm: that card annoys me to no end due to my continouses oh what joy i am in right now!

New ban lists happen every six months, or every March and every September.

Also, Double Cyclone is garbage, you shouldn't play it. It costs you 2 of your own cards to destroy one of your opponents. -1's are almost never a good thing, and this card is certainly no exception.
Sigh. Screw competitive play.

I was never under the impression that Respite requires a 42 card deck. It's just that I want to keep all 40 cards that I currently have in the deck. Removing even 1 of the Spells (I think it was one of the two MST) was definitely hard, since I feel that every card that I currently have in the deck will be live when I draw them.

A lot of players do indeed play with 41/42 card decks, however. It doesn't significantly lower the probabilities of drawing specific cards too much, although I agree that using a 40 card deck is ideal. I've never used a deck with more than 40 cards in a tournament, but people with 41/42 card decks have been able to top YCS events.

I've been looking on Shriek quite often, and I saw a couple of decks that interested me. They were all control decks (Counter Fairy, Gemini Beat), but they also contained an interesting tech: 3 Des Lacooda. I'm going to have to make a deck with Des Lacooda sometime.

I won a tourney years ago with lagooda monarch.

you just used 3 lagooda 3 dekochi and 3 skelengel with a sangan. then 10 monarchs. your usual spells and packed it with 3 threatning roar 3 waboku and some thunder of the ruler if you had any

realy fun deck to play in demise format as i had 8 maindecked cards that stopped the otk Tongue_out
im so happy i got a tuned magician and a woodland archer! now all i need is a few more gemini support cards, some gemini monsters, and Black Brutdrago. do you guys have any ideas of what cards i should look for?
BTW, anyone here have some Splendid Rose's they can part with? I got some decent stuff out of HA2.

Gemini is decent, but only the level 4 1900 beaters. Everything else bar Gigaplant (and maybe Il Blud) suck. Also, the only reason level 4 Gemini 1900 beaters are good is because of the fact that Gemini Spark exists.

It's funny/kind of sad, but the only time Gemini decks have shown any real potential whatsoever are Gemini City anti-meta decks with 3 Neos Alius and 3 Crusader of Endymion, plus the 3 Gemini Spark, etc.

I used to run a Gigaplant/Supervise OTK deck a format or two ago, and it was pretty cool but honestly Gemini monsters are way too slow and costly card-wise to make them viable for serious, competitive play.

actually i mostly only play against friends Tongue_out. from wat ive seen, you have to have lots of money to actually stand a chance at regional-stuff tournaments Uncertain so im just trying for a simple Gemini Synchro deck once i get a Black Brutdrago...
